From the Hill... “The latest Employment Situation report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows weekly employee earnings have grown $75 since tax reform passed, well short of the $4,000 to $9,000 annual increases projected by President Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). During the three months following passage of the tax bill, the average American saw a $6.21 increase in average weekly earnings. Assuming 12 weeks of work during the three months following passage of the corporate tax cuts, this equates to a $75 increase. Assuming a full 52 weeks of work, the $6.21 increase in weekly earnings would result in a $323 annual increase, nowhere near the minimum $4,000 promised and $9,000 potential annual increases projected by President Trump and Speaker Ryan if significant cuts were made to corporate tax rates. Unless something drastically changes, it seems that Americans are going to have to settle for much less than the $4,000 to $9,000 projected wage increases. An extra $322 a year isn't going to do much to pay down the $1 trillion in additional debt they are projected to take on as a result of the tax cuts.”Anyone surprised by this bit of news? Not a bit. Our small business has drastically cut our hours since the trump tax clusterfuck. Our owner is terrified that he won’t have a business in a year because of trump. So I no longer work a “full time” hours job (but am expected to do a full time plus amount of work in week, regardless of the 12 hrs a week reduction. I’m the most senior staff person, and we just lost one other full time person (who won’t be replaced) and the others who are part time also got their hrs cut. There might be a few that see an increase in wages, but I know of many, many more who are losing hours and benefits. Fuckers.

The Hill... “ U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley defended U.S. strikes on Syria in the wake of the country's chemical weapon attack, saying on Sunday a similar chemical attack could happen in the U.S. if precautions are not taken."This very easily could happen in the United States if we're not smart, and if we're not conscious of what's happening," Haley told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday." "We have to be very conscious of the fact that we cannot allow even the smallest use of chemical weapons. That's why you saw the president strike this past weekend, that's why you saw him expel sixty Russian spies after the attack in Salisbury," she said. Haley's comments come days after the U.S., in partnership with France and the U.K., launched over 100 missiles at three targets in Syria.” Gee where have I heard this argument before? Oh yes Bush and the WMD. And we all know how well that worked out. Um, is she trying to tell us something about our president that we should be wary of? But I guess it is ok for our government to poison thousands of their own people. Because lead poisoning in flint wasn’t a big deal because they were just poor people. People still don’t have drinkable water. These supposed leaders can rot in hell for their actions.

I guess he snuck this in before he sneaked off to the golf course...
“Just hit 50% in the Rasmussen Poll, much higher than President Obama at same point. With all of the phony stories and Fake News, it’s hard to believe! Thank you America, we are doing Great Things.”
Which prompted this reply from Chris Lu...
“Among real pollsters today:
-WPost/ABC: 40 approval/56 disapproval
-NBC/WSJ: 39 approval/57 disapproval
Worst numbers of any post-World War II president”
FiveThirtyEight had his average approval rating this past week at 40.7%.

Republican National Committee is a class ACT, NO NOT!! Fox News host to RNC spokeswoman: ‘Is it befitting’ for Trump to attack Comey?BY MORGAN GSTALTER - 04/15/18 05:18 PM EDT Fox News host Leland Vittert pressed Republican National Committee (RNC) spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany on President Trump’s tweets attacking former FBI Director James Comey as a “slimeball.” McEnany said Comey has “gone off the rails” since being fired by Trump last year and that his behavior was not “befitting of the office.” “If the standard is behavior befitting the office, and you're saying it's not befitting an FBI director to act in the way he's acted, is it befitting for a president to tweet and call somebody a scumbag?” Vittert asked of Trump’s recent tweet calling Comey a “slimeball.” McEnany said Trump was just “counterpunching” to the accusations coming out of Comey’s new book to be released next week. It is the RNC’s job to provide “cover and defense” to Trump while he faces attacks from “a rogue, disgruntled employee,” McEnany said. ** On Thursday, the RNC released a mock cover of the memoir attacking Comey’s “ego.” The RNC also released a new official “Lyin’ Comey” website to attack the former law enforcement official.( www.lyincomey.com/ ) thehill.com/homenews/media/383266-fox-host-confronts-rnc-spokeswoman-is-it-befitting-for-trump-to-attack-comeyI am just not sure we will recover from all this!!

More than 20 percent of Trump campaign spending this year has gone to legal feesBY MORGAN GSTALTER - 04/15/18 07:34 PM EDT President Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign has spent more than 22 percent on legal fees so far this year, according to the latest fundraising reports filed with the Federal Election Commission. The campaign has spent around $835,000 in legal fees in the first few months of 2018. The money was divided up between at least eight different firms and the Trump Corporation, according to an analysis from Buzzfeed. Trump is in the middle of a costly legal battle with adult film star Stormy Daniels, who is suing the president to get out of a nondisclosure agreement he didn’t sign. Daniels alleges she had an affair with Trump and was paid “hush money” by his personal lawyer to keep quiet about the relationship. The two legal firms involved in the fight with Daniels — Harding LLP and Larocca, Hornik, Rosen, Greenberg & Blaha — were paid a combined total of $280,000.The most donor spending — $350,000 — went to Jones Day, the firm that has represented the Trump campaign since the 2016 election and handled all litigation relating to it, Buzzfeed reported. About $125,000 was spent by the campaign at Trump-owned businesses, hotels and restaurants. The campaign has also made 20 different purchases from Amazon, notable because the president has been attacking the company on Twitter this month. thehill.com/homenews/administration/383279-more-than-20-percent-of-trump-2020-campaign-spending-has-gone-toI don't care where they spend their $$, the more they waste on lawyers the less they have for campaigns. But, Why is the RNC paying for any part of his fees for the Daniels case? wonder if the IRS got any of the $125,000 paid to trump businesses?

“Trump should arrive at Mar-a-Lago a little after 3PM tomorrow, according to the W.H. schedule. As of now, there’s nothing on his schedule after that.”
I guess he decided he could hide better at Mar a Lago then the White House. Because that is what he is doing. And that is why he didn’t go to South America for the summit.

Cohen used same company to make payments to two women: report BY BRETT SAMUELS - 04/15/18 08:37 PM EDTFederal prosecutors are reportedly looking into Michael Cohen’s use of a private company in Delaware to get money to women who alleged they had affairs with two of his clients. The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that Michael Cohen used Essential Consultants LLC to send money to a former Playboy model who alleged top Republican donor Elliott Broidy had impregnated her. He used the same company to pay $130,000 to adult film star Stormy Daniels, who claims she had an affair with President Trump in 2006. The Journal reported that Broidy made an initial payment of $62,500 to Essential Consultants LLC as part of Cohen’s negotiation fee, and later paid the rest directly to Cohen. The newspaper reported on Friday that Cohen had negotiated a $1.6 million settlement for Broidy, who served as the deputy finance chair for the Republican National Committee (RNC). thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/383283-trump-lawyer-michael-cohen-used-same-company-to-make-payments-to** Cohen got Us Weekly to kill story about alleged Trump Jr. affair: report BY MORGAN GSTALTER - 04/15/18 08:34 PM EDT President Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen was reportedly able to get Us Weekly magazine to pull a story about Donald Trump Jr.’s alleged affair with a "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant. The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that Cohen got the tabloid to kill the story in 2013, according to people familiar with the matter. ** Cohen established Essential Consultants, a Delaware limited-liability company, to secretly pay Clifford. thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/383282-cohen-killed-an-us-weekly-story-about-alleged-trump-jr-affairI read an article that Cohen doesn't do much real legal work ...... “Trump erupted when it was announced that France and Germany were each expelling only 4 Russian officials while the U.S. was expelling 60; he was furious that his admin was being portrayed as taking by far the toughest stance on Russia, WaPo reports.”
&
“Trump’s briefers tried to reassure him the sum total of expulsions was roughly the same.
“I don’t care about the total!” an admin official recalled Trump screaming.
Trump insisted his aides misled him. “There were curse words,” the official tells WaPo, “a lot of curse words.”
Oh that charm. 😀

linkIt’s my understanding that if the attorney was helping the client commit a crime there is no attorney-client privilege. And the idea that trump decides what’s privileged or not is a pretty gutsy request on his part. The Hill... Trump asks judge to block feds from reviewing documents seized in Cohen raid
From the article.... Lawyers for President Trump wrote a federal judge on Sunday asking her to halt federal prosecutors from reviewing documents seized in Michael Cohen's office and home, arguing that the Department of Justice cannot fairly evaluate the materials. A trio of lawyers for the president wrote to Judge Kimba Wood in the Southern District of New York to request Trump and Cohen be allowed to identify privileged communications prior to a fuller review. Trump's lawyers - Joanna Hendon, Christopher Dysard and Reed Keefe - wrote that potentially privileged information was seized during the raid. They argue that Trump should be able to review those documents before a taint team made up of federal agents and prosecutors to ensure his right to attorney-client privilege."The President, the public, and the government have a vital interest in ensuring the integrity of the privilege review process, and the taint team procedure is plainly inadequate to the task," the lawyers wrote, according to a copy of the letter published by Talking Points Memo.

Trump whipsaws on Russia: "President Trump seemed distracted in March as his aides briefed him at his Mar-a-Lago resort on the administration’s plan to expel 60 Russian diplomats and suspected spies. The United States, they explained, would be ousting roughly the same number of Russians as its European allies — part of a coordinated move to punish Moscow for the poisoning of a former Russian spy and his daughter on British soil. “We’ll match their numbers,” Trump instructed, according to a senior administration official. “We’re not taking the lead. We’re matching.” The next day, when the expulsions were announced publicly, Trump erupted, officials said. To his shock and dismay, France and Germany were each expelling only four Russian officials — far fewer than the 60 his administration had decided on.... Some close to Trump say the recent measures are the product of an ongoing pressure campaign to push the president to take a more skeptical view of the Russian leader. “If you’re getting briefed by the CIA director on all this stuff, there’s a point where, even if you’re Donald J. Trump, you think, ‘Hmm [Putin’s] a really bad guy,’ ” said former House speaker Newt Gingrich, an informal Trump adviser.... “I think I could have a very good relationship with Russia and with President Putin,” Trump said at a news conference just days after the largest expulsion of Russians in U.S. history. “And if I did, that would be a great thing. And there’s also a possibility that won’t happen. Who knows?”... Why not let the Europeans deal with Ukraine?... To the surprise of even his closest advisers, the president agreed late last year to the weapons transfer on the condition that the move be kept quiet and made without a formal news release. ... “Why are you asking me to do this?” Trump asked in a call with British Prime Minister Theresa May, according to a senior White House official. “What’s Germany going to do? What about France?” He was insistent that the poisoning in the English city of Salisbury was largely a European problem and that the allies should take the lead in moving against Russia. " Top-notch leadership, there, Donnie. www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/trump-a-reluctant-hawk-has-battled-his-top-aides-on-russia-and-lost/2018/04/15/a91e850a-3f1b-11e8-974f-aacd97698cef_story.html
