For those wondering: Becky spent 3.5 hours inside The Gem Studio at City Creek Center to make a ring. Yes, you heard me right, 3.5h inside a shop during a pandemic. With her elderly mother. And other random clients. Cannot relate. And she claims to suffer from anxiety. Right. Heidi went to a place called Valor to make her ring. Interesting and maybe random/not so random they both made rings. I got to admit it looks fun. We did this when I was in a junior high shop class. I think I still have the stone. Of course right now does NOT sound appealing. If I had known she'd been there, I'd totally have made the 2 hour trip though.

Ya know, they say imitation is the best form of flattery (or some words close to that) but it seems like blatantly trolling IG and copying all the people.
I mean, like wait a month or so? Give people time to forget that HS or AE just did that?🙄

I am gobsmacked to see that the flour sack dress is a current pick, not a throwback Thursday pic from the 70’s. I have no room to talk, fashion-wise, but I’m not publishing my incredibly unflattering pic on Instagram! Becky is working hard to get fit doing her 5 K runs, that dress makes her look like an old lady, or 8 months pregnant. Girl, rock something that makes you look good, even to attend a Temple wedding.
And I wish Charlie the best, but can’t see how that’s going to work. A coming out bio? Published by Deseret Books? Happy repressed future for you. My Dh was born and raised in Utah, and we spent 10 years living in Utah County in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. I can’t believe the LDS church has become THAT tolerant....

My Dh was born and raised in Utah, and we spent 10 years living in Utah County in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. I can’t believe the LDS church has become THAT tolerant.... They're not tolerant. You can have SSA (same sex attraction) but you can't act on it. That way, you're not homosexual. Technical loophole. It's the same pseudo-accepting stance the Catholic Pope has taken recently. I highly recommend TLC's My Husband's Not Gay reality series from a few years ago if anyone can track it down. It got a lot of backlash and it seems like the Church of LDS wasn't happy with the participants either. These gay men refusing to identify as gay were spending all their time together to "help each other not being gay" while their wives stayed at home, had children and talked to the camera as though everything was fine and dandy. It was sad because it was real. It would've been kind of hilarious had it been a parody. I still remember all these scenes of these "SSA NOT GAY!!" men meeting up all the time, playing basketball all sweaty, going on some kind of camping trip and whatnot... You knew there must have been some slip-ups.

That dress is very "cottage-core" which is having a trendy moment among young women right now.

That's my thought as well. Another name for "cottage-core" is "grandma-core." Maybe I should just stop there. I'm not sure I need to spell it out.

I had to google what "cottage core" was. Guess I'm not cool anymore haha Cottagecore and dark academia are the two hip aesthetics of Gen Z right now. They're all over Tumblr and TikTok. It's light, fairy-ish and floral vintage vs dark, retro and spooky. Pastoral innocence vs boarding school, both set in the English countryside. One favours home life, the other knowledge.

Wow, cats, books, and waffles are Cottage Core? And cats eye sunglasses, cats, books and typewriters are dark academia? If I were younger I could be so hip and happening! I could bridge the distance between the two and be Dark Cottage!
But, I do have to ask about the band aid.

My SIL likes funky shoes. We passed some shoes in the window and she asked me if they were funky or grandma. I said, “When you’re 25 they’re funky, when you’re 50 they’re grandma.” Same thing with the dying your hair gray trend. People see a young girl with gray hair and think “trendy.” People see me with gray hair and think “grandma”. Cottage core is gonna look trendy until you hit a certain age. After that, people will wonder if your last name is Havisham.

Cottagecore and dark academia are the two hip aesthetics of Gen Z right now. Not going to lie, I may have had sweaters similar in style in the 90's. I do like the colors of the clothing.
After that, people will wonder if your last name is Havisham. I totally got that vibe! I was expecting to see a tattered lace dress.

Just as a reminder, Costco premium layflat $85 for 72 pp (according to a 2018 review) Project Life Hardcover (which sounds like it will be cheaper than the new layflat option) - $215!!!

The lay flat books are always way more expensive than regular books, regardless of brand you go with. I agree that BHs seems really pricey, but I don't think that's as insane as you think... the Costco one seems like it isn't really great quality and is definitely a "discount" option.
I would suggest comparing with other brands, I know a lot of people like Artifact Uprising and I use Blurb. I've never ordered a lay flat book (I tend to go with the regular style because lay flat are $$$) but Blurb seems to start a 12x12 lay flat book at $95, but that's only 30 pages. You would pay more to add each page... still, I don't think you would get quite to $215 with 60 pages. I believe Artifact Uprising is more expensive than Blurb. I know Blurb frequently has coupon codes.
