I didn’t know this was someone in our group but I responded to this and a little while later you Lr post and mine are gone! Did you delete it or did she?

I just got a follow request from one of her followers, I recognize the name as someone who is a fan.

And I was just blocked. I surprisingly feel hurt. Someone please keep us updated on the shenanigans.

Do you feel supported or uplifted?

I guess she meant for everyone else but not for herself. I was a little ‘hurt’ by her post on NSD. I used to love her sketches, I’m not much into PL but I thought it was a nice way to scrap for those who enjoyed it. But she, more than once, had pretty much put me down because I still prefer making layouts.

She doesn’t, I get it, I didn’t really ask her to, but keep your put downs of me to your self. I don’t need to hear ( read ) it. Leave me be. Let me be me.

Maybe YOU should uplift others & encourage others Becky? Where’s that?

A Note From Becky:

(Inter)National Scrapbooking Day. Have you heard of it? It’s a thing! And it’s TODAY — the first Saturday in May every year. And I love that it’s a thing!

Yesterday I posted this picture (above) of some of my earlier scrapbook pages (from like 15 years ago) on instagram and someone commented, “So nice to see a scrapbooking post from you finally!”

I think it’s tempting for some people to be stuck in what “scrapbooking” should “look like”. I think it’s tempting for some people to expect that “inspiration” looks like page sample after page sample after page sample. Is that really what can deeply encourage resolve and inspired action? Perhaps for a few. Sure, scrapbook pages are fun to look at. But how many pages do we need to look at to really move us into ACTION ... know what I mean?

This work that I have been doing spans 23 years now. I’ve seen evolution. I’ve led evolution. I encourage evolution. I EMBRACE EVOLUTION. If we stay stuck in how we’ve always done things, or how we always expect things to look or to be shared … I’m afraid we’ll be missing out on the most beautiful pieces of what all of this can look like for us personally, and how it can have a deep impact on our lives.

So on this International Scrapbooking Day, I say … Here’s to the way I used to do it. Here’s to how I do it now. Here’s to how I will do it differently in 5 years and in 20 years. Here’s to EVERY way and ALL the ways and ANY way that we document, preserve memories, protect our photos, and record our stories. Here’s to YOU ... for any effort you’re making, in even the smallest ways. IT ALL MATTERS.

Here’s how I am currently trying to lift and inspire others in their quest to cultivate a good life and record it. Say hello to Charlayne and her daughter Kerry.

This week I met with these beautiful women. Charlayne has stage 4 cancer. She has felt anxiety and concern and worry about not having her stories documented. My purpose in being there was to LISTEN and offer counsel and guidance.

When I arrived, tears were in all of our eyes as we hugged it up. We felt instantly connected. By the time we hugged goodbye and I left their home, there were tears AGAIN. Except this time the tears were full of HOPE and possibility and RESOLVE! It was the best feeling ever! Charlayne and Kerry had a solid game plan. A SOLUTION. One that was completely customized to their situation, including Charlayne’s very limited energy and physical abilities, as she is in the thick of chemo treatment again.

With their permission, I shared glimpses of our time together on my Instagram page ... in my featured story called “Charlayne”. If you’re less familiar with watching stories, just go to @beckyhigginsllc on instagram and you’ll see a row of “highlights” (circles). These are saved series of stories that I want to last way longer than 24 hours because of the value I hope they’ll bring to your life.

My purpose in sharing has always been — and continues to be — because I KNOW that it will help and inspire someone else. And based on the DMs I got from the Charlayne stories, this continues to ring true. I didn’t share sample pages. Showing Charlayne scrapbook pages was NOT what would have inspired her or served her in any way. In fact, it would have probably overwhelmed her. Our dialogue about real solutions is what helped Charlayne. And the fire that is now lit inside of some people from watching Charlayne and Kerry?? THAT’S TRUE INSPIRATION.

By the way … we didn’t even talk about Kerry’s documenting struggles or goals. That morning was about Charlayne. But you better believe that Kerry is going to be at RISE + SHINE — our live event in Peoria, AZ on Thursday. (We wish Charlayne could be there too, but she has chemo therapy that day.) I believe that any feelings of overwhelm or frustration or defeat that Kerry is feeling with her own memory keeping will melt away completely after she spends Thursday with us. I believe this with all of my heart, because of the way that we have designed this RISE + SHINE experience.

If you can logistically get to Peoria on Thursday … YOU NEED TO BE THERE! What I did with Charlayne this week is what we’ll do with everyone who comes to the live event. It will change your life and fill your heart and mind in the most beautiful way.

If you have done pretty much nothing with documenting or preserving memories in your life, this event it for you. If you want to live a more intentional life, this event is for you. If you are buried by bins and hard drives of photos and memories collecting dust, this event is for you.
