I’m curious how the economy really is, particularly in rural areas that rely on farming. I visited my mom in Iowa this weekend. They are looking to buy a new car in the next year or so. When out looking, several dealers have said that business is very slow right now. They even had a car salesperson that they worked with a few years ago call them randomly. She said that she was calling all of her old contacts (they didn’t even buy a car from her in the past, just we’re interested in one) because business was really bad. Then they went to a furniture store and were told there that business was really slow as well. That people aren’t even coming into the store because farmers are hesitant to spend any money. Clearly that affects all business in the area. Rural farming community here and economy sucks.

Pay to play - best democracy money can buy... "Calk is no bit player in this case. His decision to push through two big loans to Manafort at the same time he was asking Manafort for help in getting a top job in the Trump administration has been the subject of testimony from other government witnesses.... The emails released into evidence on Monday made Calk’s quest for a Trump appointment abundantly clear. We know from prior testimony that Calk was pushing Manafort for Trump administration spots – either in the cabinet as HUD or Treasury secretary, or as Army secretary. Calk, who did serve in the Army, was angling for an appointment while the loans were being negotiated. Those loans – and whether Manafort lied about the financial information he provided to Calk’s bank – are part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s tax-and-bank fraud case against Manafort. Federal Savings Bank president Javier Ubarri, who is also knowledgeable about the loans according to testimony and emails put in evidence, was also never called by the government to testify. Instead, three less important bank executives told jurors about the loans to Calk. Two of them were granted immunity – Dennis Raico, a former Federal banker who testified on Friday and James Brennan, a Federal vice president who testified on Monday. Calk’s pursuit of a job from Trump Manafort and Calk first discussed potential loans in April 2016, when the possibility of Trump becoming president seemed unlikely and shortly after Manafort joined the Trump campaign. Discussions over loans between Manafort and Calk’s bank would continue for months. A $9.5 million loan closed on Nov. 16, 2016, just after the election. A $6.5 million loan closed on Jan. 4, 2017." chicago.suntimes.com/columnists/stephen-calk-never-called-by-government-as-witness-in-manafort-case-glaring-omission/

I'm not sure why people are up in arms about Omarosa recording people in the WH. Wasn't this the same thing the President bragged about with the alleged Comey tapes and people cheered? If it is legal, then it is legal. If not, no one should be able to do it. Pick a side.

Bill Clinton...
“Like people all around the world, Hillary and I are thinking about Aretha Franklin tonight & listening to her music that has been such an important part of our lives the last 50 years. We hope you’ll lift her up by listening and sharing her songs that have meant the most to you.”
trump...
“.@markburnetttv called to say that there are NO TAPES of the Apprentice where I used such a terrible and disgusting word as attributed by Wacky and Deranged Omarosa. I don’t have that word in my vocabulary, and never have. She made it up. Look at her MANY recent quotes saying....”

Not only that, he didn't say he taped Comey as Omarosa said she did, he said Comey better hope no one did. I realize that's a distinction that won't be allowed to stand, but I also recognize that it would be allowed, if the shoe was on the other foot.

I can’t decide if you are really as obtuse as you seem or are you are being deliberately obtuse as a way to poke the liberals on this thread. Which is it? What is it that you think I don't understand? Why don’t you explain why your posting as two accounts unless it’s to troll

Dan Pfeiffer....
“Has Trump said the N word before? Almost certainly
Has he said it on tape? Maybe
Will we ever hear that tape? Probably not
Do we need to hear a tape of the President using the N word to know he is a racist? Absolutely not”
He’s right IMO.

“An 11-year-old was able to hack into a replica of the Florida state election website and change voting results found there in under 10 minutes.”
Something to ponder.

Is DT a racist! long history.......... ‘No Vacancies’ for Blacks: How Donald Trump Got His Start, and Was First Accused of BiasBy JONATHAN MAHLER and STEVE EDER AUG. 27, 2016 The Justice Department undertook its own investigation and, in 1973, sued Trump Management for discriminating against blacks. Both Fred Trump, the company’s chairman, and Donald Trump, its president, were named as defendants. It was front-page news, and for Donald, amounted to his debut in the public eye. “Absolutely ridiculous,” he was quoted as saying of the government’s allegations. Document: Affidavit of Donald Trump in 1973 About the Housing Bias Case Looking back, Mr. Trump’s response to the lawsuit can be seen as presaging his handling of subsequent challenges, in business and in politics. Rather than quietly trying to settle — as another New York slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/01/no-not-everything-is-racist-but-donald-trump-is.html** www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/08/27/us/politics/trump-affidavit.html**

I like to read both sides of issues and this one has been big with his supporters. Big. It was also a lengthy discussion on FB at the time. He's just full of bravado and says stupid things day after day. He implies things day after day that are not true. He lies day after day. If you look at his many tweets prior to becoming the President, he contradicts himself so much that I just can't give him any credibility. I also have a hard time understanding the strong supporters who choose to ignore his dishonesty.

They were able to change names and numbers..thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/401728-11-year-old-hacked-into-a-us-election-website-replica-in-just-10-minutes oh, THAT'S comforting. (and by that I mean freakin' SCARY!! Especially since the federal response to this is so woefully inadequate, too little, and MUCH too late.)

Why do all the news outlets keep saying that Omarosa was the highest ranking Black in the Trump administration? Doesn't anyone remember Ben Carson? I realize he is a weinie but surely he outranked Omarosa.

I realize he is a weinie but surely he outranked Omarosa. They're referring to senior staff which does not include the cabinet. She was the highest ranking black in the West wing which again does not include the cabinet.

He has out lied presidents/administrations in office for EIGHT year.........

Manafort trial, the defense RESTS. Did not call any witnesses, zero, zip, nada........ This is what CNN is reporting: What the defense is saying: On his way out of the courthouse, defense attorney Kevin Downing said that the defense rested its case because “the government has not met its burden of proof.” I don't understand. They think their client will be found not guilty? So they don't need to defend him?

It happens on both sides and it was outrageous then, before we had Donald Trump to compare and say they aren't as bad as him. Sexually assaulting women is pretty bad and then re-electing Clinton despite that, there's no moral high ground there, despite the posturing and high horsing.

His administration and well as others were not mostly corrupt, dishonest, stealing from the taxpayers with their antics...... (yes we can go back to ancient history and might find worse administrations) ETA: I have no side.

They think their client will be found not guilty? So they don't need to defend him? This is disconcerting. On one hand, I don't think he has a defense available to him, or anything he says may place him in hotter water. On the other hand, I think he is taking a crap shoot on the verdict because he is prearranged for a pardon.
