I am usually setting an alarm to get an album from Ali for DD but I just did not like either of them this year.
I would be surprised if they sell out. I love the pattern on the 3X8 but I'd fill that thing up in 10 days...
I can't imagine the game that owning your own business would be in terms of ordering product. Ugh.
I want some FJ album sneaks!!

Hey I saw your ISO post. Have you decided what you'll be doing/using for DD? I hope to keep things very simple. I am not one to document on a daily basis as I learned last year. I just don't have the time or energy for that. Not sure if I'll do an album or more of a freestyle ring album (I hate the term 'junk journal' lol). I'm thinking lots of 6x8 photos with journaling. I want navy, green, red, black and white throughout. As far as my ISO post, I love the simple alphas. I would have to do something to get rid of the gold on those alphas but I could figure that out. These are just thoughts. We'll see what actually comes of it lol. |

I'm surprised all albums are still available at this stage of the DD game. Is this the first year no album has sold out yet?
Ali did say they increased album numbers this year. Last year I think they did 3 rounds of albums. 1 at the start 1 shortly after that arrived around shipping time and the 2nd round orders that arrived in late November. It seemed people were disappointed in this year's designs. The 3x8 design seemed popular, but only if it was a 6x8 album. By popular I mean there were a handful of posts in the Facebook group mentioning it and I think someone asked if Ali could make that a 6x8 for this year. My main issue with this year's designs were just that they were so similar to past albums. I line my DD albums up on the shelf and I want some variety year to year, they are starting to look too similar! So I skipped getting an album from Ali for this reason... but if it had been my first or second year to her products I would've picked up the red album with phrases on it.
I decided to use one of her albums that I had in my stash, it's a smaller spine so I'm a little worried about that, but I'll make it work. It's white with diagonal gold stripes and it was from an older OLW release.

My crate paper came today from ACOT (I preordered) and it is GORGEOUS! I love it so much. I bought a lot of it (well, like 1 piece of most of the paper). I love the glossy alpha and the gold sticker puffy words are great. I also picked up the tag making kit and it's quite a lot for 5$. The cardstock stickers are nice too. How orange is the red (it looks quite light and a bit orange for the papers)? Are you doing an unboxing video?  How big are the elements of the tag ephemera pack vs the normal ephemera pack? (sorry about all the questions!)
I've only been waiting for this line to drop since June. What's three months? Three months is nothing...  Come on, scrapbook.com, the internationals are growing impatient! Not sure if this would be helpful, but here’s a 4x6 showing some of the Merry Days pp from the 6x8” paper pad w/ some patterned paper from SC’a Keystone Cabin line & Crate Paper’s Peppermint release- the some of red & pink are both more orange-tinged than the pp from the other two lines, but I don’t find it jarring, at least. eh. Im trying. I couldn't sleep last night and *almost* bought an Ali main kit and just used that. BUT I didnt. I don't really want that kit, I dont think. I *think* I just want some of the embellishments and it would be nuts to buy it just for that. I could try to sell what I dont want, but theres still no guarentee that anyone else would want it. For now, I will use my PP mini kit and probably some of her old digitals that I already have. I don't really want to use digitals, but again, Im not finding anything else I love. So boo. Here I sit. Not loving what I have, but don't know what to do to find what I love. |

I'm so glad that we decided to stay in tonight. I've had a super busy and long week and was not up for a late night out. And then scrapbook.com releases Merry Days. Oh happy Friday night! *ALL the heart eyes*
I'll return for a second scrapbook.com order later this month to buy my EPP album (couldn't get the lowest shipping rate with the 12x12 chipboard Thicker sheet) and some Tim Holtz Christmas stuff (not released yet).
Now that I've secured my Merry Days order, I can go ahead and say that this line is total perfection for my childhood memories: the longest stretch of living in one place when I was a kid was three years in a foreign medieval town where we lived in a small white house with a red door (just like one of the houses in the Merry Days line) next to park with swans (I refuse to believe that is a goose in Merry Days ). And my mother would pick up pine branches for free (we were super poor after my dad disappeared all of a sudden and emptied the bank accounts) to make a simple wreath with a piece of recycled fabric tied up as a bow (just like the one in Merry Days). This line has my heart so, so, so very much. My eyes welled up when I first saw it properly.
*pours another glass of wine* Scrapbooking is pure emotions sometimes. It really is.

Do you have Liz's 2017 DD digital kit? Did you look at all the chipboard stickers in the 2018 Christmas lines? There are some fun ones out there. Do you have a certain aesthetic or colour scheme you want to see in your album this year?

Somebody brought up the lack of diversity in scrapbook lines in this thread a few weeks ago but I can't find the post again (was it you, scrappyesq?). I agree and have been looking for items that include other ethnicities in the Christmas releases.
1. Crate Paper's Merry Days has a paper called Frosty Days that includes a few black/African-American characters (one of the girls building a snowman and woman in dusty turquoise coat and red pants carrying pink gift). It looks like a couple of characters are supposed to be of Asian descent (other girl/child building snowman). 2. Crate Paper's 2017 Christmas line Falala has a paper called Wonderland that represents only black/African-American characters (I just double-checked the sheet I have in my stash to make sure). 3. Tim Holtz's Paper Dolls include a few black/African-American people (albeit very little), both for the Christmas and Halloween releases.
I might purchase Tim Holtz's Christmas Paper Dolls later this month. If so, I am happy to mail free of charge the black/African-American dolls so that you don't need to buy so many white faces just to get a couple of your own ethnicity!

ooh I am really resisting buying any more this year for DD unless I hands down love it. And I haven't seen anything to make me feel that way....yet. I like clean and simple, using red + white + green. I am going to spend some time with my old albums tonight, seeing what I *really* use each year. Its quite possible I don't need anything else as I tend to be photo heavy. I am wondering now if I am trying to over compensate with buying fillers when really I am worried that I wont have as much to document now that my oldest is in college and moved away. Hmmm. Maybe thats what my issue is these days. Something for me think about.... |

I did that before I purchased anything this year, it helped me figure out what to get and also to see what works for me and what doesn't. Last year was my first year as an empty nester, but I found I still had stuff to take photos of and journal about. When things got a little thin, I asked my kids to send me pix. That helped fill in any gaps. Oh, and I did that tag thing that Ali did last year with the short questionnaire. It's my favorite part of my 2017 DD. You could do something similar if you had any gaps you wanted to fill.
