Integrity, ethics and justice aren't "partisan". If you think these are just "liberal" concepts that's part of the problem.

Renate was horrified when she learned of this reference, which is a pretty clear indication that she knew exactly what it meant. I knew what it meant as soon as I saw it, just as I knew the references to ralphing and boofing.
From WaPo:
“One of our good female friends who we would admire and went to dances with had her name used on the yearbook page with the term ‘alumnus.’ That yearbook reference was clumsily intended to show affection, and that she was one of us. But in this circus, the media’s interpreted the term is related to sex. It was not related to sex.”
Kavanaugh here is referring to yearbook mentions of a woman named Renate Schroeder Dolphin, who had joined 64 other women in signing a letter of support for his candidacy. She then learned that Kavanaugh and his friends had referred to themselves as Renate alumni in their yearbook, which she recognized as an insinuation that she was promiscuous and had engaged in intimate relationships with each of the boys.
Bolstering Dolphin’s perception of the meaning of the term was a poem one of Kavanaugh’s classmates included in his yearbook entry: “You need a date / and it’s getting late / so don’t hesitate / to call Renate.” She told the New York Times that the insinuation was “horrible, hurtful and simply untrue.”
Kavanaugh's argument that the term was meant to show she was “one of us” is hard to believe — especially since she only learned of it after news reports chronicled it this month.

On one hand, I appreciate that this isn't a normal situation and the party in power has been ignoring or minimizing/brushing aside allegations and information that has been brought to their attention without really looking into it. There is no trust then, that bringing the information to the committee will guarantee that it is investigated thoroughly. I also acknowledge that Avenatti has made public some pretty important information in the past, and typically had the receipts to back it up. However, I think the allegations might be taken more seriously, if only by the public, if they were presented in a less show-boating manner.

From 1983, in his own hand. Note that he describes himself and his buddies as loud, obnoxious drunks... Wow, where did this surface and has it be verified as authentic and his writing? If so, the drinking is but part of the issue. Beg girls to stay (for kissing only I'm sure.) Welcome with open....what exactly is he implying here? Nothing untowards I'm sure. Ignore the 'fffff' sign-off that is not part of any word that begins with 'f' to mimick his friend as he stated under oath. There's a lot in there that does not jibe with what he said under oath.

I don't know if this information has appeared yet on this thread but one of the first cases on the Supreme Court Docket this month is Gamble v US. This is a challenged to the 'Double Jeopardy' rule which allows for both State and Federal prosecution of the same crimes as they are separate sovereigns.
A ruling that would disallow double prosecution would be extremely favorable to dt, his family and his circle. He can pardon for Federal, but not all state charges.
I suspect an expected favorable vote from Kavanaugh if appointed to the SC would be part of the deal to appoint him to the SCOTUS seat.
I suspect also that this is one of the reasons for the big push on the confirmation, and also the vote this week that Bitch McConnell is pushing for. (and I realize that is an insult to females dogs. My apology for that)

I watched his testimony. Google “boof” and “devil’s triangle” and you will understand that you, as part of the American public, were lied to. And that is just one of several lies. That he couldn’t just say what they actually meant and that he was a stupid teenager, but chose to lie instead and become aggressive with the senators, disqualifies him from being worthy of a Supreme Court seat, IMO. So I have googled them and the only reference I can find is in the Urban Dictionary. Devil's Triangle has only appeared since the hearing and boof seems to have more than one meaning. Since slang words come and go and their meaning seems to change with each generation I'm having a hard time believing he lied about the meaning back then. I am 53 years old. I graduated high school in 1983 and college in 1987. I went to high school and college in the mid-Atlantic. While I was certainly not in his financial demographic, I did attend a college that was mostly upper middle class at that time. All of this puts me in the same age and general locale of Mr. Kavanaugh. I knew the meaning of those words back then and know them now. I feel pretty confident that he is full of crap about their meanings. And for the record, during my college years, I probably played every drinking game out there. There were never any by those names. I did a lot of things I am not proud of in my youth. But I would never consider trying to attain one of the most elite lifetime positions in the US either.

I visited the SJC website first to find the link but couldn't from their public page. I found the link from the Salt Lake City Tribune and the URL tells me that was released to media and not readily available on the SJC public webpage. Could me wrong of course, but it freaking STINKS to high heaven in my mind.

I'm not familiar with any of these terms - whether it's because I was younger or on a different coast. While it doesn't bother me to debate about other meanings to devil's triangle or poof- the debate surrounding Renate Dolphin is different IMO. I do think there are legitimately different meanings to that, I think it's a disservice to HER to debate whether there's an alternative meaning. Perhaps because I knew a certain girl in high school who people absolutely bragged about obtaining a date with (and absolutely nothing else happened). I personally think Kavanaugh's merits or lack thereof were evident in his testimony. The need to bring up an unrelated, private person and debate their sexual history in high school seems utterly unnecessary and unfair. I do see what you're saying, and I hate it for her. I also think the insinuations are so terrible anyone who is asked about this will be reluctant to state that it did mean something more nefarious than a date with her or "admiring" her because they don't want to further drag her name through the muck. But I do think it's relevant to Kavanaugh's character and treatment of women at the time. He claims he was never disrespectful to them. This entry in his yearbook may contradict that. I agree. What an awful thing to find out people you thought were your friends wrote about you decades after the fact. I would be horrified to read something like that about my teenaged self knowing what the casual reader who didn’t know me might think. It was definitely a clumsily worded notation that was intended to mean more than “she was just a good friend that everybody dated”. Yeah, right. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg) No wonder she retracted her glowing endorsement, I would too.

They have all lost their minds! linkI would bet my house it was released to counteract and distract from Kavanaugh's letter from high school. Regardless, disgusting. eta: I am boiling over this and am wondering how her sexual preferences a) have anything to do with whether or not she was assaulted or b) her credibility as a witness. There was absolutely zero need for that information to be included in the letter, or not redacted if they insisted on making it public. Victim shaming at its finest. She likes kinky sex so she's a liar. Kavanaugh was a virgin so he's innocent. I can guarantee if this was reversed these same loathsome people would be saying his sexual proclivities shouldn't be used against him. I also find it very interesting that this was all there was to it, yet he thought of her 3 years later and wanted her help with his campaign. I'm still mulling over my thoughts on the ascertations about her mental health and its relevancy. But not about the releasing of this letter, especially when they tried to hide so much. Absolutely unacceptable.

Absolutely unacceptable. In one of the stories I read that Ketterer also has been diagnosed as having Bipolar Disorder and was fired from a DC television station after his diagnosis in 1995. I think his “concern” over her mental health may be some projection on his part. I also think the SJC, in this case, may be exploiting his mental illness. Eta: the whole thing: that he thought she was a prostitute when he met her, that he had the affair, that he tried to reach out to her later to help his campaign, that seeing “how sad Mrs. Kavanaugh looked at the hearing” being the impetus for writing the letter - seems off-kilter, to me.

However, I think the allegations might be taken more seriously, if only by the public, if they were presented in a less show-boating manner. While I would normally agree—-the GOP Senators are not allowing these voices to be heard. They have repeatedly made contact and have been awaiting the FBI to call, but nada!

I used to think that honor, ethics & justice were not solely liberal concepts. But lately I have my doubts. Yeah, yeah both sides have bad people, both sides lie, blah blah blah. However, one side has taken it to new heights. I’m finally understanding why Republicans called McCain a RINO.

I have never reached the level of loathing/fury for any public figure that this sorry excuse for a man has triggered. This infuriates me to the point where I seriously wonder about what he is doing to my own personal mental and emotional health, it's like the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. It is not good for anyone to be so angry so often, but he is unavoidable. I have always been a pretty laid back, non-confrontational type of person. He and his accomplices are turning me into someone I really don't want to be. Yes, Lucy, we are doomed.
