My DD is very environmentally conscious so I made a bunch of reusable drawstring bags instead of wrapping paper. I used a Vintage Noel fat quarter stack I’ve had for a couple of years. Hopefully we’ll be able to reuse the bags in future years. I think I’m going to do it for birthdays too. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181224/bfa64c43a2b902b09a94fca4c1e88068.jpg)

I did that about 30 years ago with the kid's Halloween trick or treat bags. I made bags with drawstrings from Halloween fabric. I still have them and now dgs and dgniece use them! I love the idea of the same for birthdays.

So many talented crafters on here. I love this thread. My plan over the next week is to compile a to do list for 2019. Some projects from here are likely to feature. Happy crafting to you all. ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/love.jpg.gif) This thread has been a highlight for me this year, even when I haven't had things to share. I enjoy all the crafts that everyone does. Thanks to all of you for sharing your talents with us! I have great plans for 2019 that involve my sewing room and stash, so I hope to see all of you more often! A very Merry/Happy Christmas and a Wonderful New Year to all of you! I agree. It’s been fun seeing what everyone is working on and to see all of the different crafts and hobbies out there! It took me several months to finally post a picture. I like seeing everyone’s pictures so it’s only fair that I post mine even if I think they are less interesting or not a finished project. Thank you all for sharing and let’s all keep crafting in 2019!

We used them for many years and then, when the kids were grown and on their own, I re-used the fabric to make Christmas quilts for the grandkids.

Enjoy your shopping. How are you getting on with your crochet? I am better at using the internet than crochet. It’s coming but slowly. I have no concentration so I can only do anything for 10 minutes at a time. It’s frustrating. I don’t know how to read any longer either and I read from right to left. It’s frustrating because if this is going to be life at 50 then what will 75 be like? Slowly is good, there's no need to rush.

muggins those are adorable! This thread is my very favorite one on the board. So much talent here. So much eye candy. Merry Christmas! Look what Santa 🎅 brought me. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181224/340159f37e0d46854d66a3c302253a1d.jpg)

lainey , I am finishing up my Secret Paths shawl and then I'm doing that Tea House Wrap. I decided I am going to use the same brand of yarn as she used (I have a bit in my stash and it's a nice, soft, thick yarn) and I ordered four different colors today to compliment the skeins I had on hand. I am thinking this will be beautiful and cozy and looking at the pattern, super easy too. Aha! Now I think I know your plan for the new yarn! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg)

I have several skeins of the same yarn in a gray tweeded with those colors. I am going to use the gray and the colors in that Tea House Wrap.

jeremysgirl - you lucky duck! What fun! I love this thread too. I love the inspiration of the ENORMOUS range of ideas that everyone has made. It's better than Pinterest because all these crafts have been made by ordinary people, not professionals paid to produce perfect photos - and there are no stupid ads. Thank you lainey!

Here is Mum being silly in her cardigan.
By the way, this is an "at last" moment, so please humour me!

Did anyone receive crafty gifts for Christmas? My mom gave me 10 yards of white Kona quilting cotton, rotary cutter blades, needles for English paper piecing, two quilting rulers, and my favourite grey Aurifil thread.

Thank you all! Yes she loved it. She wore it all Christmas Day, and showed it off to everyone. I have to say it looks lovely on her, and very cosy. It's the first big garment I've ever made for anybody and I'm thrilled to the back teeth! All December I've been wanting to make myself some slipper socks, especially when I washed one of my two beloved pair and found holes in them. I told myself I would NOT start a new project until I finished the current one. My family arrived for Christmas on Sunday. I finished it on Saturday... ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/R6yG4nI0YHiVm0wktwl4.jpg) Talk about cutting things fine... Tomorrow I'm playing!

Just popping in to wish everyone on my favourite thread a Happy New Year ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/pompom.gif) Have been ill over Christmas and so far have managed to avoid the need to go into hospital. PC is on the blink so this is the first time online for ages. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and want to say how much I have enjoyed spending time on this thread with all you inspiring crafty people. I will be starting a new mini project in the new year and it is probably the most ambitious build I have attempted. Look forward to coming back fresh in the New year hopefully a bit healthier and on a new PC. Regards and best wishes from Sue aka phoenixcov

What size bags did you make? They look a really useful size. On a connected note, dh paid for gift wrapping for a present from Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was a lovely lined fabric bag which will be definitely reused.

Eeeek! I can't wait to see what it is. I'm so sorry to hear that you've been ill, hope you're doing better now.
I've put the fabric gift bags on my to make list. Would it be a bad idea to gift the gift bags to people so they could reduce paper waste?

I think it's a great idea but as with all things handmade its a case of knowing your audience. Some people will love it, others will be unimpressed. You know, it might be a small business idea for you. Little eco shops are popping up all over the place and would be in the market for useful products to sell.

I stayed up late last night (my eyes are having a hard time staying open today) to finish my shawl. I am really pleased with how it came out. It needs blocking. I have never done this before. Any tips or tricks? I'd like to get this done tonight.
