So I made cinnamon toast this morning... incorrectly it would seem. I rarely make it so I don't keep "cinnamon sugar" on hand. I have *gasp* never mixed my sugar and my cinnamon together much less bought it pre-mixed. But I'm being told that it's "wrong" to sprinkle on sugar and then sprinkle on cinnamon.
A first-world issue for sure. But you know the rules... when in doubt, take it to the peas.
Is this really a thing?

I usually premix it as needed. But I am not militant about it, it's my preference

I don’t think it’s wrong, I just find it works better to have them mixed. We do always have a spice jar of cinnamon sugar on the counter! It’s a necessary staple around here.

You can buy cinnamon and sugar premixed? That's a nope for me... pretty sure they'd find a way to fuck it up, and charge double to do it. It's cinnamon and sugar. Mix 'em together before you put it on the toast, you heathen!

Either way, but since I don't keep them pre-mixed, I usually put them on separately.

We have it premixed here, but growing up, we’d pile on the sugar and then sprinkle on the cinnamon. That’s my preference and is, in my opinion, the best way of doing it.

I premix. It just comes out better that way. I also like controlling the cinnamon to sugar ratio. I find that if I mix it ahead to keep on hand, I always have to add more cinnamon.

Ah, the burning questions of life.
I've always mixed it prior to sprinkling. In my experience, the cinnamon doesn't sprinkle evenly. Seems like an area with too much cinnamon would be bitter.

Sorry it has to be mixed together otherwise you either taste too much cinnamon or too much sugar. Glad you were advised of the correct way to make it so that you won’t make that astronomical mistake again.

Then I have been doing it wrong for at least 44 years. As long as I have been cooking. I doing a healthy sprinkle of sugar and then add cinnamon. The key is to add a lot of butter to the bread. THEN a really healthy dose of sugar. You want to get a crust on sugar. The cinnamon is heavy or not. Depending on how much I have in the jar. I have tried to cut out sugar in the past year so I haven't had this in a while. I think I may have some this morning.

We always mixed the sugar, cinnamon AND the butter together and spread it on before we broiled the toast. I haven't made it in years though.

I premix it myself and have it in a jar. But I usually just put cinnamon on my toast and eat it that way.

Lol We just mix it together in a cup and I’ve never heard the kids complain.

I have 2 bottles of cinnamon. When one of them gets half way, I fill it with sugar and then dump and mix, put back into the bottle. I guess my girls never realized I did that. So I have been questions by both of them on what do I do to my cinnamon. Haha, first I told them mom secrets and they both sat me down on Christmas eve and asked me "no, mom seriously what do you do to the cinnamon?"

I forgot to add in my (mixed, always mixed) response is I also make my own and do not buy it premixed. I did purchase it premixed once about 20 years ago so I could get the container that had a cool penguin on it and had the perfect sized shaker holes. Sometimes you do what you have to do.

I never pre-mix. Butter the bread, pour on lots of sugar, sprinkle on cinnamon, then toast.
