Embri I agree it's like a lull right now with the holidays. My stores just brim full of Christmas decor. I trip over it. I am not complaining.. I would be a hypocrite side eyeing Christmas decor since I bought a whole bunch of Christmas decor last night, lol. I do table top trees so I need to get it fast or it's gone. You find the cutest binders. I love Avon binders. They are so pretty. I am so envious your store gets so many coloring books. No thrifting for me. Fall cleaning this week so I don't want to go thrifting until I get done. Next week I am back to my schedule.

Nothing like being with your daughter and doing a little thrift shop therapy. Here is the gem I found yesterday. It's from an antique store in a small town near her apartment. The police chief was going to buy it (according to the shop owner) but he never came back for it. So, I told her to tell him that it went to another police family. So excited to have another typewriter to use. This little gem is in perfect condition and only cost $35!!!!

So excited to have another typewriter to use. This little gem is in perfect condition and only cost $35!!!! That's a really lovely looking typewriter, Patter. I've never seen one with green keys before, and such a good price too. Have some fond memories of getting to play with one of these in grade school. You find the cutest binders. I love Avon binders. They are so pretty. I am so envious your store gets so many coloring books. Wasn't a pretty one I'm afraid - just plain dark blue, with gold embossed 'AVON' on one side, and a number on the back. I'm guessing it was originally some kind of product catalog that was carried to customer's houses? I really only wanted the inserts, which are very thick and double folded pockets, perfect for holding big dies. October is always more sparse at Value Village (aka Savers for the American folk) since they devote a large amount of floor space to new Halloween products. It's one of their best money-making months from what I've heard, not too surprising given costume stuff is expensive if you go to a specialty party shop. I'm not too terribly befret, given I picked up a second-hand copy of Gloomhaven (22lbs of boardgame goodness!) from a private sale and foresee spending a lot of hours with it.

Went to the creative resuse store nearest me (90 minutes away) yesterday because we were in the area for other things. I spent around $20 and got some fun finds- basic grey Chipboard alphas for $1, 12 sheets of 2007 fancy pants die cuts for $2, some Cosmo cricket DeLovely 12x12 Chipboard for $2, Lily bee alphas for .50. not much in the way of paper, but it was fun to find some old collection stuff.

Oldies but goodies! It's always exciting to find 'deadstock' for things you want - stuff that's sat around on a shelf or warehouse but never been used. And chipboard seems far less common than paper, at least around where I am.

I found some great things at Value Village. This was all in a plastic bag for $1.41 (Rusty Pickle, Fresh Tags, Jolee’s Tags, misc).

Went to the creative resuse store nearest me (90 minutes away) yesterday That's about the same amount of time for me to the nearest one too. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll go back. It was great if you are more into the mixed media and art collage type of thing.
Since I don't have great thrift stores, the closest thing is Dollar Tree. I got a cool sheet of adhesive gemstones. It's orange gemstones with purple skulls. Very cool looking! I thought I'd try applying them to one of those fake foam pumpkins.
They also had Christmas out, but not all of their Thanksgiving items. I saw some mini pompoms in Christmas colors, cute gemstone looking snowflake stickers, mini Halloween stickers (come in a package of 8 boxes with stickers inside), regular Halloween stickers, and packages of small fall leaves. There were other things, but this is what I remember! It really varies by store. The closest one to me is smaller than the one I went to.

That was a great deal on all those tags and other goodies, LavenderLayoutLady - I wish our VV had prices that low; they never put out anything for less than 2$ it seems. That said, I didn't have a bad day yesterday! Picked up a very nice Hallmark 12-pocket portfolio card storage thing. (3$) It's already been put to use for board-game tile storage. I was actually looking for something exactly like this and it couldn't be more perfect. Also grabbed some unusual paper and a Cuttlebug embossing folder (big dots). The paper feels a lot like my specialty origami paper, and has shiny fibers in it, gold leaf or embossing. Pretty fancy stuff, though mostly scraps there's still a few full sheets and it was ~1$, same with the embossing folder. Brand new 25 pack of black 12"x12" cardstock, also 3$. The model builder in me couldn't resist picking up a Gundam model kit. Original retail price still on it was 99.99$, paid ~4$. Missing a few small bits but I'm having a great time, and the fun : price ratio was right.

@patter Gasp, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your new baby. She is so pretty. That is one workhorse typewriter too. When I was younger and worked as a secretary I spent a lot of time on those old typewriters. We had computers, lol but back then we still did a lot of typing using manual typewriters. I remember setting down with that model of typewriter and thinking of her as a loyal friend. Embri We had a Value Village in my area too. I am in the Mid-South. It was a lovely store. I think the managers couldn't run the store correctly and they have since closed. I did like going there. I would have been thrilled to get the black cardstock from your latest haul. I always love finding unusual paper. mrssch Great haul. I would have been so thrilled to get those tags. Admit it how much did you squeal when you spied Rusty Pickle. ! I have some sheets of Rusty Pickle paper I hoard because that company was just perfection. No pics because I was tired, lol. I did go thrifting and found some cute things. I got a cute floral school binder that is now a new coloring pages binder. Lots of cute office supplies to tear up and turn into something new and cute. A lot of it was only like twelve cents each. Seashells, makeup bag and I found a retro Barbie for my collection. Not too bad of a haul.

@amayalylac, I too spent a lot of time on these typewriters when I was younger. Mine was the 1970s model, and I have one of those also. Truly would rather type on them than most other things. I also LOVED the IBM Selectric and the interchangeable ball. That would be the only electric I would like to add to my collection. A blue one in particular would be heavenly!

I learned to type on an IBM Selectric my sophomore year of high school (1988) and actually enjoyed it! We learned the basics but switched to the boxy Macintosh computers once those were installed in the typing lab. Miraculously, our timed tests improved dramatically...our teacher wasn't computer literate yet and didn't know about copy + paste!

Went to my first ever outdoor flea market. Beautiful day but not many there. I bought postcards, vintage christmas cards, order pads, bookkeeping student workbooks with lovely handwriting, 1950s magazines and some misc books for cheap. I like when it’s slow because vendors give good deals inorder to make a sale.one vendor was practically giving away an old farm ledger but the mildew was horrendous and the paper was unuseable. I even found 2 vintage Halloween cutout witches for my collection. Now to find time to work on my Halloween and Christmas art journals/glue books and use my goodies.

As expected, October is a quiet month for thrifting. No crafty finds to be had again this week. Did grab a couple of toys, some Schleich Fairies for the niblings, pair of planter pots and some cotton/linen yarn blend.

We have a Goodwill Outlet store in town. I go every other month or so. There are tons of people there, so it really can be a free for all. I have found some great stuff there (not much for crafting though). This weekend I went as they were wheeling out some new bins and I saw this sitting on top of the pile. Snagged it. It is the smaller one, but really, really heavy. I have a teacher friend who I knew would love it. It cost $2. Found it on Amazon used for $47.

Not a thrift store, but I went to the Echo Park warehouse sale this month and got some great deals. It was mostly page protectors. Probably the best deal was a travelers notebook cover and insert for $10.00. They normally retail for $30.00. I also went to an outlet store in Salt Lake City. My daughter was thrilled with $2.00 books that were fairly recent titles too. I got one of the Johanna (sp?) Bradford coloring books for $2.00! The corners were really, beat up, but definitely still usable. They had Ms. Kate Cutables paper packs (stacks of them!). They were considered part of the stationary sale (25% off). I paid just under $6.00 for one super hero pack. Most were versatile polka dot patterns, but that's all I bought because I hadn't gone to the EP warehouse sale.

I have found some great stuff there (not much for crafting though). What a nice looking guillotine trimmer! I have two thrifted ones in my craft space and love them both. They're workhorses. I got one of the Johanna (sp?) Bradford coloring books for $2.00! The corners were really, beat up, but definitely still be usable Can always use a corner rounder to clear that problem up. Takes some time, but the end results are nice. Sounds like it was a great sale!

Wasn't expecting much today given it's only a few days until Halloween, but was pleasantly surprised with a few supplies to add to my stash. ~1.5 packs of mixed blue cardstock, some cold lamination sheets, a laminated unicorn themed divider, two packs of assorted wooden ladybugs and leaves, pompoms, and bells. On the non-crafty side, an unused Pokémon activity book plus reticulated giraffe, grizzly, and pinto foal figures + saddle. All told ~5$

Saw a little girl about 8 collecting all the cameras she could find at Goodwill yesterday. Wish I would have asked her why she was buying them. Then I wondered why she wasn’t in school on a Tuesday.

Sometimes you see people with carts or baskets and just have to go 'huh' based on what they're loading up on. I too would have head-scratched over this - maybe it's for a school project? P.D. day? Or she just really likes cameras!

Homeschool or Satellite school student. I know some schools are out for Fall break. I guess it's a week or so. My district does not participate. A couple of my friends who are teachers in neighboring states are out of class this week or was it early last week? I can't remember I just know they were on Fall break, lol. She might have went with a teacher to pick up supplies for a classroom school project. I have done this but I was a teenager and not in grade school. My school would take the responsible students for these kind of excursions, especially if we were the group leader.
Embri I know you will appreciate this. Thrifting for art supplies was a bust last weekend. Gaming was a score. I got Nintendo DS games 2 for $1.50. I bought two fashion games because I had the other titles. They had everything from Mario to Pokemon 99cents each or 2 for $1.50. I am still excited about my score.

Made some money today instead of spending it. I had a copier paper box full of books I bought at an estate sale and a library book sale over the summer. Most of them were pre 1900. I took them to a local antique dealer hoping to just recoup what I bought them for. To my surprise the dealer only bought half of the books and paid me triple what I bought them for.

pas2 I am so excited for you. It is the best when you get the perfect resale. Embri I agree you can't have too many games or too many handhelds. Now, if I could find that score on Switch games, ROFL. You know that is not happening.

I posted this on the main board too, but thought you guys would appreciate this find, a Making Memories ornament kit for 1.49. It has 6 or 8 pieces of various patterned papers, some ribbons, and chipboard accents. I will take the ornaments into school for our creation station, but I am totally going to use the pp and ribbons and chipboard pieces. Oh, it also came with their word sticker sheets and border stickers too. I would have paid 1.49 just for the word sticker sheet alone, I love and miss those.

The big dump of snow kept us from heading out to the thrift store earlier in the day when we usually go, so imagine my surprise at finding this bundle of goodies still left on the hooks: All of that for less than 5$! I couldn't be more pleased. There were a bunch of cheap pens mixed in, the usual promotional kind and ordinary blue/black/reds, but even after taking those out there were still a ton left of the better artist grade stuff. Two big punches (I stickered one of them because the measurements were wrong) and a plethora of pens. All of them work, and are in mint to near mint condition. The jewel of the ensemble is of course the Copic Multiliner SP 0.7. Thrilled to have this one in my toolbox. SP's aren't cheap, I only had one prior to this. At the back we have a Staedtler compass, pencils and Technico lead holder. Already had one of these but it's got 2H lead in it instead of 2B, so now I can have both. A Pilot gold pen that still works, and an empty Montana Marker pen. Previously had whiteout or white paint in it, I cleaned it out because it was goopy and gross. Haven't decided what I'll put in it yet. A good set of Staedtler Triplus Color pens. Didn't have any of these, so they're welcome additions. Two grey fine liners that are doubles, and a gold Sakura Gelly Roll. My first one. Other singletons are a Stablio Green point and a Staedtler pigment liner. Middle row are all Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens. Most are the fineliner tip, which is great because I didn't have any of those either. A set of blacks including a small calligraphy/chisel nib, a gold and one brush tip (the minty green). Top level are all Sakura Pigment Microns. Several duplicates but a nice array of sizes from 005 through 1 and 2. I think I'm good on pens now for the next decade or so... ... unless more Copic Multiliners wish to grace me with their presence. I'll never say no to those!

Only because we go regularly to look, and live in a decently large city. And skip reporting on the fails, because they tend to be unexciting - who really wants to read about 'ho hum, nothing all that interesting today' over and over? No sense in boring y'all to death. End up leaving a lot of things behind. A big book of paper, stacks on stacks of gift wrap, yet more punches - a single big one and two teeny tinys in a bag for 13$ (?!!?! how do they price things, a dart board?) three times over. Yikes. Old yellowed craft paint, separated in the bottle, big bundles of pipe cleaners and dollar store craft kits, half used. An assortment of kids activity sets, the kind that come with an instruction book and supplies... binders upon binders upon binders. There's always a ton of regular stationary stuff to sort through. This is the first bag of artist markers I've gotten, and I've been looking for many a year. They also had a small set of Prismacolors for 8$, but I don't do pencil colour work and have a whole tub at home so they stayed on the rack. Miles of premade cards, envelopes, party decorations, beads (ugh I touched one bag and someone had already been rummaging around in there and it dropped a bunch of little beads and stones on the floor. *sighs* I can't even really pick that stuff up since it's all just going to fall out worse if I try to put it back.) But yeah. The good stuff's out there, you just have to keep going. Most of the time it's nothing exciting. Just wish I had crafty or artsy friends nearby to share the extra fine liners with. Doubt I'll end up using all of these myself.

Embri No girl you find great things. I will give a humble brag but in my group I am known for the girl with an eye for thrifting treasures. As my friends/family would say Girl, you have a great eye. Thrifting is a talent. I also think your particular store somebody there has a big donation heart. Rather donate than resell. I am like that too. I rather donate. I do admit I am very careful now of donating high ticket items to the thrift store. I use to have no qualms at all. The flippers competitiveness made me a lot more careful since now it's become a social media game of greed. I use to not mind flippers because you know they were just trying to make a dollar to expand their income a bit. Most flippers can't work- physical or mental hardships, unemployment, etc.... Now, the flippers are like "Let me have a big ad revenue YouTube channel showing you all the things I flipped and how much money I am making and how badly I act while doing it!" ROFL! The flipping stars can be worse than the scrapbook stars. Now, I donate high ticket items to charity auction.
