Yesterday's haul! Another planner for the die storage project, a nice large one that I was quite pleased to find (3$). Joining my drafting pen collection (4$) are a set of four Fabel-Castell TG1-S pens. Only one needed some cleaning, all back in working order now. Neatest feature on these is probably the built-in humidifer cap. Empty space in the box is for an optional sold separately compass attachment. These pens are older than I am, but the ink's still perfectly good, much to my amazement. Below the pens is a stack of clear and opaque report covers, the kind used in comb-binding machines. Planning on using mine for stencils and spacers between my magnetic die storage sheets. Probably a good ~150 sheets (3$). Rounding out the day is a copy of Ubongo (~5$), two Grand Champions horses (2$), and a GURPs Hellboy source book / RPG game (2$). (not my image) There were still a ton of these 'icicle/ice candy' things on the shelves, been there for more than a month now. Nobody wants them, can't say I'm surprised. Also passed on foam tape, a small and poor condition guillotine cutter, and job ticket pockets. Office supply area had the usual assortment of adult colouring books, scrapbooking albums/kits, and binders.

There’s a cleaning solution & it works well in a sonic jewelry cleaner. I can’t tell you how many of those I’ve cleaned over the years.

Oh, I've already restored them to working order! It's old hat by this point. No ultrasonic was needed for these, they weren't that bad. Taking them apart is fun, having to clean your fingers afterwards of the ink a bit less so. *laughs*

Office supply area had the usual assortment of adult colouring books Fun! I'd definitely buy one. I wish I had stores with better selection! I have found them at Dollar Tree. I copy the design onto white cardstock and color with markers. The rest I've got from Amazon. Creative Haven has a good selection at a reasonable price.

Colouring books are fun, but I've got 3-4 already, so the rest regretfully have to stay behind! Especially considering I'm not using the ones I already have; doesn't make sense to acquire more. They usually turn over pretty quickly so someone's buying them.

On the topic of mates, lol. Marry your best friend. DH & I have known each other since we were little. We have been best friends since we were teenagers. My DH loves me for me. I can't imagine hiding things from him. I need to share all my treasures with him because he's my best friend. Best friend's share everything, lol. Never settle for the guy who changes you. Marry the one you want to share your world with, not the one who think he should be your world. refugeepea I was a big Franklin Quest girl back in the day. I know that Avery's smaller notebook filler papers went into the FQ. That's what I bought back then. Right now WalMart has a bunch of the smaller notebook items on clearance for like a 25 cents to a $1.00. I know these sales can be very local but it doesn't hurt to peek. You can take your FQ in with you to see if it would work. I make my own planner pages now. I do the cute printables or use blank to embellish and stamp what I need. Right now I am making my own custom sketch journal. Monthly and weekly pages you can find online for free. www.calendarlabs.com/ is a good start. I read you love Creative Haven coloring books. WalMart got a new selection in. Embri I love your haul. I can beat your drafting tool age. I have my Dad's drafting set that was made before WWII. My most prized possession. I haven't been thrifting. I was going to go today but didn't get the chance. I have been hitting the clearance sales and gettng some great treasures. My best find was self healing cutting mats 12x12 for $1.25 at Dollar General. Score!!!!! I got six of them. I left the other five but I was so tempted to snag them but I don't like to be like that. I have die cutting mats for a good long while now. I am using one for it's traditional use. I love it. Best cutting mat I have had in a long time. I also got some file folders for 10 cents. I cut them down. Old school stampers you all know how much we love, love, love our file folders. I do miss thrifting. It's been too long. I want to go now, lol.

Don't have many tools that old around here that I can think of, maybe a few of my grandfather's things. I'd have grabbed a bunch of those cutting mats too. Our dollar store only has the really tiny ones and they're 4$ with a hobby knife.

Designate yourself a space, and when it's full don't buy any more until you've used / donated some of your stock. Assuming that paper is a supply for you, and not a collection. A lot of folks walk the line between both, but at least for me paper is a means to an end. I collect stickers, but not paper. If your intention is to accumulate paper, and that's what makes you happy, then go for it. Otherwise - as painful as it can be - don't buy more than you can handle.

I see your point, but I probably have more paper than I need at the moment because -I'm a slow scrapper -I live far away from any real shopping -Thrift stores in areas with real shopping, suck! -I have plans, BIG plans for all this paper. -I seem to like products that don't end up being popular. If I see a deal, I try to stock up. -My life is boring. I'm at home most of the time, it is my cheap indulgence. Since I can't travel and do fun things, I might as well have a few things around me that make me happy and distracted. I also think your level of stash that you are comfortable with can vary widely from one person to another. I have a spot in the living room and don't plan to expand. BUT there's high ceilings and I can always go UP!

If you haven't filled your designated space, then by all means get more paper. How much is too much is an individual decision after all. And if you collect paper more than you use it, that's okay too! Just because some poeple don't doesn't make it right for you. I don't collect bottle caps, souvenier spoons, Ferraris, or parrots. They don't make me happy (and two of those I wouldn't be able to afford!) but I'm sure there's someone out there who does collect them, and gets enjoyment out of it.

I get about the paper. Ladies those are your stickers, lol. Like Embri I collect stickers. I am making room for stickers. I don't really collect paper unless I can make stickers from it. I do the designated area for my paper. I don't want it encroaching on my sticker space, lol. Seriously, there really isn't a difference from one collection to the next. It's like one lady collects shoes and the other collects purses. Not thrifting but thrifting prices. Hobby Lobby- If you have a chance go take a peek. I used my thrifting money at Hobby Lobby today. My clearance haul was a lot of stickers. I got a beautiful Fiskars corner punch for only $3.00. They had a lot of punches. I was tempted but I am transitioning to dies. I only want to buy punches that I always use. My best find- The WRMK Pom Pom maker. Ready for this. I paid sixteen cents!!!!! Yes, sixteen cents for the pom pom maker. Score!!!! Don't look for the red sticker to say sixteen cents on things like that. It was only $2.00 but rang up as sixteen cents. Yes, I do love pom pom's, lol. I was really happy to get it. I have developed this love of those crazy WRMK tools. I don't need them but they are so much fun.

Three dollars is a steal for a Fiskars corner punch - I'm happy when I can get them used for that price, and 16¢ for anything these days is crazy. Reminds me of the time I picked up two copies of a computer game that were on the discount shelf, but they'd already been cleared from the computer system so they rung up for a grand total of 2¢. I wasn't about to argue with that! The cashier was most bemused, I'd imagine it's not something that happens too often. Haven't found another deal like that since then. Corner punches are great - they're one of the few punches that really does work better as a punch than as a thin metal cutting die.

refugeepea I think the pom pom maker would be a good investment, especially if you can find it at the sale price for $2.00. I hope you all get the magic register for sixteen cents. I like to make pom pom's for kids. I make them in white so they can have snowball fights, lol. Kids love pom pom's. The textures make them so happy. When my child was little and was making me mad I would throw a pom pom at him. He would laugh so hard. He knew he better cut it out right now, ROFL! Have you all seen the cute pom pom planner charms? My DH enabled me. He pretty much said that not owning a pom pom tool would be just weird since I am pom pom crazy. My DH knits and crochets and I am always stealing some of his yarn to make pom pom's. Poor man can't even bring out a skein unless I am in it. We go out shopping for yarn and he's like "What do you think of this yarn?" He's thinking of blankets and I will tell him "No, I don't think it would make good pom pom's" ROFL! Embri what were your computer games? That beats my Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo DS that I bought practically mint condition for $2.00. I am addicted to corner punches. I was thrilled to find a corner punch on clearance for such a low price. I know they are not as popular as they use to be. I am always hunting for new ones.

It was Creatures: Exodus; doubt anyone here has ever heard of it. Creatures was a very niche franchise, but it had a huge impact on my early years. Many fond (and not so fond; computer crashes, augh!) memories. In a nutshell, you're tasked with raising successive generations of Norns - the tititular Creatures - who have simulated brains, genomes and biological systems. And rarely want to do what they're told! Any Mario title for DS at 2$ is highway robbery - take it and run! Your DH sounds like a wonderful person. Everyone deserves a partner (assuming they want a partner) that supports their interests, even if they aren't shared. Pom pom planner charms sound cute, can't say I've ever seen one before.

I remember Creatures- Exodus. I never played it though. I thought those little creatures were sooooo cute.
I wonder if they will ever make #4. Crossing fingers for you that they do. I mean I am finally getting a new Nancy Drew game so there is always hope for our beloved franchises. I remember several in my dolling communities where modding the heck out of Creatures. It still has it's cult following.

The Creatures community is resilient, rather amazingly so. Most of us aren't pinning our hopes on an actual Creatures 4 though, given the disaster that was the mobile game. Instead the spiritual successor is in good hands with Steve Grand's project. He was the A-life designer behind the original.
Not much available at thirft this week. I got a handful of small figures from various franchises, but nothing else looked reasonable to bring home. Had one lady ask if she could use my phone (?!?) and I honestly told her I don't even own one. :S Is that a normal thing people do? I wouldn't dream of asking to borrow some random person's expensive electronics unless it was a life or death emergency.

Yes, that is a thing to ask for your phone. I think that's a thing that needs to go away because phone's are now people's wallets too. You wouldn't hand over your wallet. My DH usually has expensive phones because he's a power user and needs it for work. He won't let people touch his phone. He has a big heart and is the type of guy that has the reputation "He will give you the shirt off his back" His phone is off limits. Mine is hearing impaired phone. When people ask for mine I tell them that. Then they look at me as if I am lying to them and just downright rude. Ok people I can read lips, I can hear you I am not 100% deaf. I said I am hearing impaired! Jeez! ROFL! My phone would be useless to them. It is hearing impaired and I am on T-Mobile's hearing impaired program that is $3 a month for thirty minutes text/phone. I hardly ever use my phone. I use WiFi and my iPad to do all my messaging. Embri I bet that lady looked at you like you were the biggest fibber in the world when you told her you don't have a phone, lol. I have several friends with no phone, dumb phone (Yes, that is an actual term) or like me basic phone and use tablet for communication.

She certainly seemed amused, not sure what was going through her head at my answer; it was the truth though. I only had a cellphone for a couple years as a teenager, and probably made less than five calls with it. Parents got it for me as a safety thing, but I never really saw the point of phones, and it was an expensive service for what you got. At the time they really couldn't do much besides primitive text messaging and a couple really basic games like Snake. And keeping the battery charged was an annoyance.
I need the delay intrinsic to forums and computer-based communication in general to get my thoughts in order properly. I hate having to talk on the phone, or even answer it.
*headshakes* You've probably run into the same people who think the only folks who get handicap parking permits are in wheelchairs. A lot of mobility problems are not so obvious at a glance, and people who otherwise look perfectly healthy aren't always.

I heard cell phone coverage is expensive in Canada. I know over at my frugality board when somebody posts their budget and needs help we are all like "Why is your plan so expensive?" They always say "I am in Canada." I don't like talking on the phone or even answering it. I get it. I did go thrifting this weekend. I didn't get anything crafting related. I thought you would enjoy this Embri. You all know I have been going through a lot lately. My DH surprised me with a new turquoise Switch Lite and three brand new games- Yoshi, Spyro Reignited and Assassin's Creed III collection. He did get it for a thrifting price. Are you ready? All of it cost about $58. He took advantage of sales, trade-ins and coupons. He knows I would have had a fit if he paid $400 for a gaming system and games, lol. I am really enjoying my Switch and it has helped my stress and anxiety so much.

Oh indeed, we have some of the most ridiculous rates for telecommunications services in the developed world. :\ Our household is relatively lucky since we have a legacy unlimited internet plan from back in the day where consumption was measured in MB rather than GB, but telephone's still like 50$ a month for a landline.
What a thoughtful gift, and a thrifty one to boot! Video games have kept me company through many a rough patch. Zen hugs (if you want them).

Has anyone shopped Facebook Marketplace? My area seems to have a lot of craft/SB/stampers purging right now with great prices. To bad it’s stuff I wouldn’t use. One person has a uhaul full if papercrafting stuff she is selling in lots then the rest goes to a community flea market on the weekend. Its about a 45min drive away. I’m trying to talk myself out of driving down to see if there is any Basic Grey paper. She won’t answer inquiries of that nature. She seems very overwhelmed with it all.
Has anyone shopped here and gotten good deals?

I've never shopped FB, but that's because I absolutely refuse to touch it, ever, for any reason. Social media is one of my personal bans for life. That said, it sounds like a nice weekend activity to go check out what's in that uhaul. Even if there's no Basic Grey, with that much stock it's almost sure you'll find something worth buying. A very small haul today - just some storage in the form of CD pockets. They're really nice, very thick plastic and I can't complain for less than 2$ for twenty sheets (4x sets of 5), new in package. Originally I was going to store finished ephemera and scrap paper but these are sturdy enough that I'm considering if they could be used for dies. Also grabbed some adorable dinosaurs for a future boardgame DIY project, some animals and a Cthulhu themed card game in a tin. (3$ for the game, 1$ for the animals/dinosaurs)

I have! I got a rolling tote XXL bag for $40.00 and over the weekend while scrolling through it I found an ad for a "LAST DAY" garage sale. I spent $80.00 and probably scored $500.00 or more worth of product. I would happily post pics, but I'm not sure how to do it.

@scrappyglue What was your best find in the tote? That is such an awesome deal. Embri I want to snag that little seal. He's so cute.

So far that has been my best find! I also found a CM consultant not far that will sell stuff out of her trunk for a massive discount.

I had an unadvertised yard sale and still made $97, which is good for not having any kids things or clothes. Next I am taking a box of antique books to a local antique dealer to see if she will buy any. I have way more than I can use for journals or my collection. Have to purge to make way for some new goodies.

I miss the days of every weekend was yard sales everywhere. Nowadays most of the good stuff ends up online in some way or another. I can't really fault people for that - it's easier (most of the time!) to sell directly rather than simply hope someone shows up who's looking for what you've got.
Nothing crafty for me recently, just some planner sized pockets in an old Avon mini-binder. Wasn't much on the shelves either that looked interesting. There was a photo t-square that I passed on, the usual assortment of colouring books, binders and office supplies. Expect things will be better after October, since so much Halloween stuff is taking up space.
