I'm an experienced stamper, especially with the petite places line .. but why does it take so long to make these little houses? I love them. Every time I start them I think to myself... oh, it won't take long to bang out a couple of houses... but no.... hours later and I'm still putting on the roof. I have all the tools.. good paper, good ink, stamp positioner, using negative space for die line up. WHy oh why?

I’m not sure what the future of PTI is but they are no longer the PTI that some of us used to love. Nicole and the long time designers were the heart of PTI, that’s gone. Their hiatus to regroup is bad for business but there will always be the PTI unicorns that willl buy from them no matter what. I’ll admit I was one of those unicorns until they showed their true colors back in the email deleting days. Jennifer McGuire is the ultimate stamping influencer and I’ve always wondered why she didn’t promote them more. There’s got to be some industry scoop behind that. out of all of this PTI mess, I’m just glad we still gets Betsy’s designs! Years ago Jennifer McGuire tweeted that she can’t believe how long shipping takes when she lives in the same city as the company she ordered from. Jennifer McGuire lives in Cincinnati and the PTI warehouse is also in Cincinnati. It didn’t take long to figure out that’s the company she was referring to. I got banned from the forum a few years ago for daring to ask why my pre-release order HAD NOT SHIPPED when people who placed release night orders were receiving theirs. (This was AFTER the "we lost a whole palette of orders in the warehouse" debacle.) Just tried to log in one day and my user name didn't exist anymore. Some of you may be interested in reading Rick's posts in this thread on Splitcoast. (Yes, that Rick.) Start around post 88.

The stories circulate among these groups. For obvious reasons they don’t put it out to the public. You can always PM him. Everything said is true. It’s quite an eye opener and really makes me hesitant about this company.

Hi everyone my name is Rick and I am not a stamper. Although I certainly have had my share of experience in the stamping industry. I was married to Julie Heskamp for 12 years, and she is the owner of PaperTrey Ink. I was deeply involved in the business while we were married and then after our divorce I created a die manufacturing business that she fairly quickly pushed me out of. I started the PTI forum and was the admin until we parted ways in late 2017. I met a lot of wonderful people on the forum and during my time helping with customer service and I am anxious to catch up with the folks on here that were on the PTI forum. I posted some behind-the-scenes info on the PTI forum and they banned me in about 30 seconds lol. I see that Rick just posted in the "introduce yourself" section so he may pop onto this thread with some insight. Hi Rick.

Julie has tried to court Jennifer McGuire several times and although she has come for a couple of meetings I am sure she had a premonition to stay away from them. All of the other conjecture above has already had the riddle solved with the letter from PTI yesterday about inktopaper. I don't necessarily think is is a bad idea to shed the papertrey name and move forward with a new site and a new name. The PTI name is so destroyed at this point I would assume the wholesale nature will really just be a front to offload 20 mil in inventory to paper crafting stores. Julie has always had an itch to do wholesale design and sales of dies and stamps so it may serve that purpose as well.
They could literally come up with 20 different reincarnations of themselves and all of them will suffer the same fate because they will all be run by the same people that ran PTI into the ground. It is so amazing to me after having left in 2017 that I finally have some clarity with their situation. I truly believed for 20 years that Julie was a loving caring person until the time it came to stand behind me or run over me and they just became so selfish when it was them losing a little bit of money vs. me being able to pay rent. They promised me the moon when I literally handed them a die business on a platter until the day came when they could save money by screwing me over. Then and only then did I see their true colors. It's like if you are a Heskamp they will do anything for you but if you stand between them and the next benjamin they use their might to roll right over you. The did the same thing to Nichole in my opinion.

Cry me a river You stood idly by while they shit on their customers over and over and for years you defended the “three brilliant business women”. You get shit on and now you’ve found clarity. Fuck off! PS, this isn’t the PTI board where YOU can delete comments so put on your big girl panties.

Fuck off! PS, this isn’t the PTI board where YOU can delete comments so put on your big girl panties. What is it exactly that you think I could have done to change the situation? I had no ownership interest in PTI nor did I get to make a single decision about how the business was run. What amazes me the most is that YOU had every ability to just simply walk away from the mess and you chose to continue to stay and fight them for absolutely no reason.
I see that the vitriol from the stamping community is alive and well here and your life hasn't gotten any better. When people act the way you do it just shows the world who you really are.

@rick G, welcome to the board. Thanks for your insight. I can see how being in deep makes it hard to be objective, until you finally get some distance.
I would love to know what red flags Jennifer McGuire saw that made her stay away despite having several meetings. Just their basic personalities, maybe?
I was strictly SU until Nichole started PaperTrey (I followed her from SU), and they were the first other stamp company that I bought from. I bought all of their stuff for the first year or so, I thought her designs were so fresh and new. Once the ink pad fiasco happened - where ink pads started going mouldy and smelling reallllly badly, and PTI wouldn't compensate us or do anything about it, I stopped buying from them. Such a shame.
Anyway, welcome.

I honestly think she just didn't need to be involved with them. A lot of designers came on board because Nichole wanted them to... but Julie was trying to get involved with Jennifer... not Nichole. That seems like a big red flag to me.
I honestly was not asking anyone to cry me a river.... I took my punches and moved on. I think a lot of people would have done well to do the same thing.... especially customers who thought it was their responsibility to save the world from PTI...
Nichole was the face of the company but unfortunately Julie and Jane were behind the scenes and they never gave a damn about crafting... they were just in it, and continue to be in it, strictly for the money.

I remember attending the one in person Stamp affair they did in Cincinnati. Jennifer McGuire stopped by in the evening and brought Nicole and all the designers ice cream. They seemed to be on great terms so if there was any intentional distance there, it was on the business side and certainly not from the design team.

I think that Jennifer M. is a talented businesswoman but I don’t think her “star” personality would have been a great fit for PTI. Rick, thanks for coming here. PTI, customer service rep. replied to a forum member that a decision yet to be made regarding the continuation of the forum. I will be truly be disappointed if the forum fades away.

That makes sense regarding Jennifer. She is doing just fine on her own, she's incredibly professional and seems happy with her business. I have no problem with people wanting to make money, but Julie and Jane are stupid not to realize that customer service and reputation are everything. I believe a person will never be truly successful if they step all over other people to make a buck, it will eventually catch up to them (as it has now for J & J apparently).

Hopefully in the near future she will add a forum for her followers and customers. I cannot imagine the manpower needed to provide that to her customers...but we can dream.

A forum can be setup in a day if you know what you are doing and can run on an AWS server for about 30 bucks a month.... I emailed her and offered to help her for free but she did not respond

Rick, Welcome!! Thank you for the insight. It’s just so sad that PTI will soon cease to exist. Now that they’re showing sneak peeks of the new releases it’s more “real” bc obviously the designs are different from what they used to be. At least I have stamps I love that I’ll treasure for many many years to come.

I am not loving any of the sneak peeks from Ink to Paper. None of it feels new or fresh. My next purchase will be from The Greetery as I have always loved Betsy's designs. Anyone else feeling underwhelmed?

I like the layered flower dies but already have two similar sets from Altenew so cant really justify another one. I’d be interested in more sentiment sets but the ones released don’t really appeal. I have a lot of stamp sets and am getting more picky about what I buy - something really needs to fill a gap in what I already have.

I am pretty underwhelmed by the wholesale side of the business so far-one pop up store in Kansas. I think I’m throwing my PTI mad money in Betsy’s direction again when the new release happens for her. I’m not seeing anything in this PTI release that I need or want. The cheesecloth stamp is to my liking but I’ve had one of those stamps for years. Mine is maybe an IO rubber stamp and larger so you can mask to whatever size you need. Rubber stamps so much more reliably and crisply stamping in thin line designs like these.
Awesome puppy Rick!

Is PAPERTREY INK ever going to announce, somewhere OTHER than their forum, about Ink to Paper? Because if it weren't for this site and splitcoast, I wouldn't even know the new venture exists.

The fact that when you google “ink to paper” their website doesn’t show up in the results AND that there is already an Ink To Paper store just shows they put no thought into this change.

A couple of questions/thoughts.
Now that there are 2 businesses with PTI being the wholesale arm and all the old products on the PTI website, does that mean only the PTI brand stamps, dies, etc. will be offered to other retailers?
Who are the retailers that are now offering PTI products? Or I2P products? Has anyone signed up to retail these? I expected a list with the new release. You know, a "now available at X, Y and Z stores". I haven't seen anything from the big stamping online stores announcing it either. Did I miss it?
Another case of "we're still working on it"?

There was one pop up store announced for retailing Ink to Paper products this month but I understand it could change each month. Sorry, but that just seems weird to me. I'd like to know I could pick things up regularly if I wanted. There was something saying about PTI transitioning to wholesale in the next 3-6 months. I'm not sure that they'll be offering the older sets or whether it's just basically going to be the paper products. It all just seems a bit disorganised.

I think Nichole and the design team were the heart of the company and tried mightily to keep Julie’s train on the track. After seeing those Buy It Live unedited videos filmed in Julie’s basement I knew Papertrey had jumped the shark. I never felt the same about Papertrey after reading several of those long irrational accusatory customer service rants that showed up on several forums. What owner of a company does stuff like that?
Interestingly to date Jennifer McGuire has not even noticed Ink To Paper as a new stamp company. Ordinarily she highlights a new company on her blog. She mentioned Betsy’s New company.
