That sucks that you made the drive and they didn't have what you really wanted! Many years ago I visited Calgary and went to Treasured Memories. I was new to scrapbooking and I was in Heaven! Is it still around? I don’t think it was their fault. I don’t shop here very often and was not aware that if items were available on line, they were not necessarily in store. I was in the city anyway, so not a long drive— just a little out of my way One of the first “real” LSS’s I shopped in was Scrapbook Paradise in Calgary. As you say, it was Heaven! There is a Treasured Memories in Edmonton. I like shopping there. And at least a couple of other SB stores in Calgary. I haven’t been to the others.

blemon - I'm so sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and for the repose of your uncle. I actually thought about DD daily yesterday and ordered some photos...

So sorry blemon , uncles can be very special and that sounds like a huge shock to the family. joblackford - are your stripey socks visible??? I am not someone who draws attention to themselves... my Christmas socks are in my boots My DD is rather more like Shimelle in personality - she will totally dress it up and show it off! grammadee - you gotta tell me what you were looking for, inquiring minds DD - I'm faithfully keeping my JYC journal and have remembered to take some pics too. But I haven't done any personal scrapping in 3 weeks now...it's all cards and homemade gifts! Today - off to Currys, an wonderful Ontario Art store. Dick Blick of Canada I need a Pentel "sparkle pop" gold pen. It's the best gold pen I've found, and mine ran out with 10 Christmas cards left! I'm using it to outline part of my sentiment...

grammadee - you gotta tell me what you were looking for, inquiring minds I saw they had some ep 6x6 My Favorite Christmas plus the puffy stickers and chipboard. I wanted to use that quirky Santa in the old truck on a page I have in my mind. And I have had trouble getting my hands on 6x6 Christmas papers this year. Bad timing I think. No big deal. It’s not like I don’t own any Christmas paper... My favorite Christmas

It might be an age thing. I only ever ate mincemeat pie at my paternal grandmother's when I was under 10, so the early 70's. Maybe so! I turn 40 on Thursday so I wasn’t even around til late ‘79. Happy birthday! I hope you have a great day.

are your stripey socks visible??? I am not someone who draws attention to themselves... my Christmas socks are in my boots Oh yes, I was wearing a knee length skirt and coat! And I usually walk/take the bus (although yesterday I did get a ride). And all my work in the library is in the public area. I have mostly given up on being normal. Did you see the fun run photo I shared a couple of pages ago? I had to walk a mile each way through town to the ferry dressed like that literally with bells on! Yesterday while I was waiting for hubby outside Starbucks a guy told me he almost mistook me for "the Where's Waldo guy" and I told him he was right - the socks are actually part of my Waldo/Wenda costume. (Where's Wally in Brit English) HAPPY BIRTHDAY mom !!

And with my fun-running friends (they are runners, I am not!) We girls were trying to stand up straight because the guy is so tall, but it made us look like we were puffing our chests out btw my socks have Christmas gnomes on them. Scroll through to see some more crazy costuming. That looks like so much fun! I love how into it everyone gets. I have always wanted to do a Jingle Bell run/walk! Of course by the time that I do it will be a walk all right, with a walker!!

Thank you all for the kind words!
He was Jewish so everything happened very fast with the services to stick with the tradition. We are home and exhausted. I'm working from home tomorrow to get a little extra rest.
I appreciate you all so much!

I love that runners are like this - all tutus and onesies and crazy hats. Some of these people are hardcore runners too, like Ironman types 😳 but they just go all out with the crazy costumes for these fun events. I’m glad I finally tagged along with these folks, even if I just walk a long way behind them. BTW Librarians are also nutso with the costumes - my friends who run and wrangle books are the best of the best. If you can’t join in a run at least try to find some library workers to hang with around the holidays.

While I did my second pass on nephew's photo book today I (half)watched The Knight Before Christmas and (for the first time ever) White Christmas. I might be a bit grinchy because my reaction to both was pretty meh. And I still haven't seen a 2019 Hallmark movie worth recommending - I don't think any have held my attention for 2 hours. But on the other hand, I've been enjoying the Deck the Hallmark podcast recommended earlier, and yesterday I tried the Norwegian Christmas series on Netflix "Home for Christmas" (Hjem til Jul) "The constant comments on single life of 30 year old Johanne and society's expectations of the perfect family Christmas finally gets to her. Johanne starts a 24 day hunt for a partner to bring home for Christmas." It's terrific! I needed a little sharpness and swearing in Norwegian! I'm watching with the English subtitles on so I can listen to the language, but that also means I have to watch with my full attention. (You can watch dubbed into English if you don't mind the weird mouth movements). It's the first thing I've found lately that's worth my time. Very funny. I'm excited to watch Great British BakeOff holiday episodes, and even the US version too. And I think I got the darn photo book done at last. Now to try to make a New Year's card for my SIL's family - their Xmas card was not good so it's going in the trash. It would help if her husband didn't stand 2 feet away from everyone trying to stay out of photos... they are left with very few choices for a holiday card... (suck it up, photo shy people - your loved ones want to see you!) Hope you all are having a festive weekend

My SIL's church holds a Christmas musical every year and for the last couple of years she's asked my DH and I go with her. The highlight of this years was Mary and Joseph walking into the church on a real donkey and the shepherds with real sheep. Later during the performance they put their own something-to-do-with-the-birth-of-Jesus-story lyrics to the music from Aladdin's Prince Ali and had two camels walk through the church. Also, when the pastor asked everyone to bow their heads in prayer some young girl bent into the aeroplane crash position. If you're being grinchy you'd better make some room for me on that bench because The Knight Before Christmas was seriously underwhelming. There were so many gaping holes in that movie I could have ridden two camels through them.

I watched a super cheesy Hallmark movie today called The Christmas Card. I suffered through but the actress was an absolutely horrible actress.

It's been super busy around here and the usual holiday movies are sucking (for us). We have yet to find one (new) that hasn't felt like some kind of torture. I know, the drama. However, we did watch "The Moodys" series special on Fox. It's not the RomCom/lighthearted Hallmark story we were looking for, but it did have some pretty funny parts.
