December Daily 2019 MEGAAA thread

Prompt n°27: Christmas and everything after

The holidays have their peak day: the 23rd for those celebrating Saturnalia, the 25th for the Christmas crowd, etc. But what happens after? Today's prompt is all about looking at those days after your peak day. Do the holidays keep going in your household? Does the tree stay up for a while longer? Do you bake or cook festive things still? Do you have to go back to work or do you get to extend the holiday? Do you enjoy keeping all the decorations up a while longer? Are you still watching Christmassy movies and listening to seasonal music? Do you keep the spirit going a bit longer? Do you perhaps work your way through the 12 days of Christmas (or celebrate the full 8 days of Hanukkah and so on) until Epiphany? Document the perhaps quieter but possibly still festive holiday "afterglow." 

Photo ideas: What goes on the table (meals from leftovers, special treats), the first decorations being taken down, taking the tree out to be recycled/put away in its box, any 12 days of Christmas tradition, donating some toys/books/stuff to make place for the new ones.

Don't you love it when other people's passion for Christmas décor can be enjoyed by all? I love pointing at pretty Christmas lights, trees and decorations all around (obviously, not mine) and go: "Oh, look at my pretty garden all decked out for Christmas! Look at the great job we did with the lights this year!" 😁

Nope. Another trip cancelled. This strike, I swear... (I mean, just let me go to Disneyland for a day and then strike on 😂) We're attempting again next week. Fingers and toes crossed!

Great Christmas gift! But of course, you've got me wondering now how you managed to find IKEA furniture in NZ. Did they finally open? Did you finally get to enjoy discounted Christmas Vinter collection goodies? 

I only remember that when I mentioned it, joblackford had already begun watching it. She was aiming for the nice list though: she limited herself to 1 episode a day. I was 100% naughty and binged it. Forgive me, Santa? 😬 So glad this thread is spreading the Home for Christmas love! 


That's the talk around town... As soon as it was released, people speculated Netflix might look into a second season if the viewership numbers are good. For Netflix to be allowed to operate in the EU, they need to produce EU content (made in the EU with EU staff and also meeting EU language diversity). This would be a solid candidate to meet their EU content volume in 2020.

Now that's a great Christmas gift! Nothing like someone helping out and taking on part of the workload, especially for something such a big task. 

Very touching tribute to her late husband and a beautiful way to keep him alive during the holidays. Food is such an important part of social gatherings so I find it very fitting that you honoured him through what gets shared and what nourishes you. I'm so glad you insisted and managed to convince her to come over. It will have made a great difference in her experience of this first Christmas without him. 💖

City lovers, unite! Sending you good vibes for a 2020 Christmas in an exciting city with loads of cool museums to visit, special drinks and food to try and the joys of hotel life (fresh towels, not having to make your bed, no cleaning: what's not to love?). 

Sounds like you made the perfect December album for your family and holiday season, Linda. It definitely doesn't have to be daily. I think you're going to have a wonderful time flipping through this album and looking back on your Yuletide season years down the line. Have you considered adding a couple of yearly spreads with your very favourite memories and photos? It's a great way to keep the independent December/Christmas album going without getting overwhelmed.
