Prompt n°28: Face the sunFor many of us December documenters, the days are finally lengthening again and with the first days of winter comes that feeling of hope. For this prompt, think about embracing sunlight. Seek it out through the day. What happens now that the darkness of late autumn is starting to dissipate? Do you go on a hike or walk to get your body moving after all the yummy food and get some much-needed vitamin D? Do you like to enjoy a cup of hot tea or coffee in the garden, bundled up in your winter coat and wooly hat? Are you taking some time off to enjoy the outdoors now that the Christmas madness is over? Any very early signs of the rebirth of nature? Down under, how are you enjoying these last days before you begin noticing that the nights are growing longer? Photo idea: Let the beauty of sunlight guide your photo composition here no matter the scene you're shooting. Try to remember the times of the day the light is the best during this season to take photos in your garden, living room, landmark you're visiting so that you can capture a well-lit photograph. Anything goes! Don't forget to move around the scenery to see how you can make the most out of the natural light for your picture. Enjoy the sun and capture whichever way you're doing so. Song of the day:

No official Ikea store yet sleepingbooty (and it sounds like it's going to take years) but there are a number of places that bring in some of the more popular items of furniture etc from Australia. GET ON IT, IKEA! We can't have our anniefb depending on import and black market stuff... 😉 Not to mention it’s more expensive than I’m sure IKEA would be at an actual store.

I’m thinking about packing my December daily up. I’m kind of over it. I think during this next week I’m going to focus on my journaling and then pack it up and do it later in the year. I said I was going to finish it this year but I’m not. I got to day 14. That’s better than past years. I’m ready to move onto new projects that are really just old projects I need to finish. I like to bounce around.

ecvnj58 - nothing wrong with that - it's hard to be creative when you're not feeling it. Maybe there'll be a Christmas in July challenge that'll get it finished later? I'm working on Christmas Eve on mine - it's been really nice actually to have a small scrappy project on my desk that I can work on as time allows (we won't talk about what my desk LOOKS like right now though with all the Christmas stuff scattered everywhere). My kids are enjoying seeing the progress and have been good about getting photos for it for me - I'm actually IN some of them. Ordered another batch of photos from Thursday, Friday and Saturday for it and DH will pick them up this afternoon.I think once I get Christmas day through yesterday scrapped it'll be almost done - just New Year's Eve and Epiphany to go event-wise and DS leaves tomorrow morning...our holidays are winding down.

Well my “travelers notebook” has turned into an encyclopedia and I’m not done yet. Lol I think I made some good December memories! I am undoing the staples and putting it back together with rings. It’s a hot mess but for once that’s a good thing. Lol

sleepingbooty, you are a true holiday champion, keeping us all motivated, and taking the time to respond individually. I appreciate you! As for Little Women, I highly recommend seeing the movie at the theater. The cinematography was beautiful, and the attention to detail in costumes and setting was so well done. It is an Academy Award contender in every way. Even the men in the family (who grumbled about going) really liked it. They admitted crying more in Star Wars, though LOL.

Hi all, I'm hopelessly behind on this thread. Just gonna have to stay that way. Typing on my brand new MacBook, I'm so thrilled to be back on a Mac.
The weeks leading up to Christmas were pretty rough for me, lots of issues with my (now former) job which cumulated in me giving my 2 week notice on the 23rd and they turned around and essentially fired me. It was kind of awful and not a great way to start my holiday break. I'd been carrying SO much stress from this job and it crept into my family and Christmas. Happily I start a new job on January 6th.
We have 2 more Christmas celebrations and then we are done. I've been taking notes and photos, no time to start on the album. Soon hopefully.
Hope all of you are well and had a wonderful Christmas.

Not to mention it’s more expensive than I’m sure IKEA would be at an actual store. Really, it's a lose-lose situation for IKEA as long as they don't get to it... Maybe they're still struggling to place the country on the map? Shall we send them some GPS coordinates, anniefb? I’m thinking about packing my December daily up. I’m kind of over it. I think during this next week I’m going to focus on my journaling and then pack it up and do it later in the year. I said I was going to finish it this year but I’m not. I got to day 14. That’s better than past years. I’m ready to move onto new projects that are really just old projects I need to finish. I like to bounce around. Hey, you, THUMBS UP! You made it halfway through the project in real time which is an awesome performance, especially for someone who tends to document later on. Go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back. You did amazing and totally deserve to put it away for a while and have fun with other scrappy things. Totally proud that you got all those days documented this month (and you should be too). I'm relieved to read that you've actually enjoyed working on this smaller project throughout the month, Linda. It was a rough ending to the year for you and you would have been absolutely validated in the decision to back away from it but you've been such a December trooper. It's been heartwarming to see how you've embraced your December album despite everything life threw at you. And how nice that everyone in the family is already enjoying the album and making sure you're also in the photos. Sounds like this turned into a beautiful family collaboration... Well my “travelers notebook” has turned into an encyclopedia and I’m not done yet. Lol I think I made some good December memories! I am undoing the staples and putting it back together with rings. It’s a hot mess but for once that’s a good thing. Lol Woohoo, julie5! I love messy projects that keep growing and sprouting new branches. YES to all the fun memories and full pages. Are you going to use extra covers for your December TN? Colourful rings? As for Little Women, I highly recommend seeing the movie at the theater. The cinematography was beautiful, and the attention to detail in costumes and setting was so well done. It is an Academy Award contender in every way. *puts it on the winter cinema outing list* Thanks for the recommendation. I do love a film with good cinematography... And yes, I totally read Little Women growing up. My mother actually took her time to find a decent translation of it before getting me a French language copy. PS: I appreciate you, too! Oh my, what a scary December month you've had. Losing one's work around the holidays is incredibly daunting. I'm so glad this has a happy end that you already have a new position. Congratulations! Wishing you all the best (and a healthy work environment).

Prompt n°29: Through the looking-back glass
2019 is about to end. Soon, it'll be 2020. Before we embrace this new chapter and enter the new decade, take some time to look back at the year. What do you wish to keep a condensed memory of? Are you a person who likes to list their yearly playlist? Can you come up with a list of favourites: place visited, meal eaten, goal achieved, good news received, landscape seen, etc.? If you like to document for future generations, it might be interesting to write down the cost of everyday life as the decade ends (gas, loaf of bread, litre/pint of milk, dozen of eggs, newspaper). Journalers and prolific writers might enjoy using the "This was 2019" writing prompt as a starting point. Photo ideas: Go large or go small for this one. You can include your very favourite family/friends photo of the year blown up as large as your album allows or make a collage of photo tiles showing as many things included in your 2019 recap. If you're making a price list, don't hesitate to take out your smartphone at the store to photograph the items with their price. Whole album (yes!) of the day:

We went on another grandpa adventure yesterday - snow tubing. Grandpa outdid all of us. I think he was told the session was closed but managed to con “just one more slide” out of the young guys running the place. And the only 77 year old we could see on the mountain was hiking back up the hill between every slide - the rest of us were too exhausted. We have a lighted maze adventure on New Year’s Eve and then we can all go back to our normal lives. http://instagram.com/p/B6rrp9jg4Xh

I'm getting excited that it's almost time to order my December photos, and when they're delivered, get started on my December pages.
I have my holiday paper pads, along with my wintery stamped images, and homemade embellishments all sitting on a shelf. I kept pieces of gift wrap, and cute Christmas tags. I have a list of all the holiday going ons we did, the movies we watched, the books i read aloud to the kids.
I'm excited to put it all together in January.

Prompt n°30: Catch-up n°2Time to check in with your project and figure out how you can move forward with it. If you're documenting in real time, flip through the pages, make final design decisions, adhere "floaties" down, print the photos for the empty slots, finish the journaling, etc. If you're documenting this merry month in 2020, try to do something to help your future self make the process easier: a checklist of things to pull from your stash, journaling down the important memories, start your final photo selection and so on. And yes, thank you sleepingbooty - I’m going to miss this thread in the months between everyone getting sick of DD and July when the supply shopping begins again. Fear not: come the first days of August, we'll head into another DD thread. It'll be a fast descent into madness, yet again. "It's still summer, I can't believe we're already discussing and buying Christmas stuff!" "My Christmas stash overfloweth but look at those pretty papers..." "I'm going to be good this year and not buy [xyz], someone remind me when Ali's DD release drops!" It will be here before you know it (and you won't believe how quickly the first half of 2020 will have flown by)! Go Grandpa! I love that he's having a blast and showing all of you young ones how the Christmas season is done. Sounds like your family had an absolute blast this December, joblackford. I'm wishing you a wonderful ending to the year in the maze tonight. And of course, if Grandpa is coming along, I fully expect to hear what shenanigans he'll have been up to... She's got the stories, she's got the ephemera, she's got the scrap stuff. All she needs is her stack of photos and some time! It sounds like you're *so* ready to tackle your project, LavenderLayoutLady! How exciting and how fun to think of all the memories you'll get to put together in January. Can't wait to hear how it all goes.

Prompt n°31: On the eve of 2020I'm a big fan of New Year's eve. The big, loud celebrations, the small, intimate ones at home. It doesn't receive the love and attention the other December holidays do but I hope you will take the time to add it to your album if you're documenting all the way to the end. How does it look like for you this year? Are you introverting and staying in with a platter of nice food and the TV to relax in front of? Do you take a moment to go outside and witness the arrival of the new year at midnight? Do you wish your sleepy pets happy new year at midnight? Do you go out to party with friends? Do you have special plans? Whatever it is, it's yours and it's good. Embrace whatever you're doing and get it documented. If you have teens and young adults around the house, try to get them to share their respective festivities by sending you a selfie around midnight so you can also include their perspectives. The more, the merrier. To those going out: party safely, please don't drink and drive, keep an eye on your friends and, of course, enjoy yourself. To everyone: have the most wonderful time stepping into the new year. From the bottom of my heart, merci beaucoup for participating along this month. I look forward to seeing those continuing or beginning to work on their project in here in 2020! Happy last hours of 2019, my scrappy friends. Photo ideas: Your favourite things about tonight (food, TV show you're watching to ring in the new year, comfy slippers or party dress you're wearing), midnight selfies, before and after midnight shots if you're having confetti or fireworks. Song of the day:

I'm done through #20, but 21 to the end are a lot of bigger stories (4 gatherings and the Star Wars movie). I haven't had time to sit and work on it when I feel like it...and haven't worked on it when I have had the time! Too many distractions from DH and the boys, thankfully we all go back to our regular lives tomorrow.

I finished my album! I'm so happy to have it complete and slipped on the shelf. I'm not quite ready to put away the Christmas supplies yet though... I think I want to use pieces of my DD supplies to document December in Project Life. I'm hoping to work on that some this weekend. I shared my album on my Instagram and wanted to just post a few of my favorites here. Best wishes to everyone who is still working on their albums... I hope you are able to finish your album before running out of mojo, but remember to enjoy the process & if you aren't feeling it... jot down the words and set it aside until DD fever strikes again (it always does)! https://www.instagram.com/p/B5oCgNcgtfh https://www.instagram.com/p/B6VoFC8gOcN https://www.instagram.com/p/B6tRxBKgOyq
