This board is going to help me finish my album from last year. I only have one shelf on a cart devoted to Christmas things, and I have space for my go to crew: KP, Jamaica Makes, Crate Paper, Paislee Press + maybe IACB. I’m hoping they don’t disappoint. It’s easier for me to focus knowing what generally fits my aesthetics. Let the DD games begin!

Love this thread!! 🎄🎁🎄🎁🎄🎁 In 2014, 2015, & 2016 I did 8x8" DD-esque books. Loved doing them, but felt like I was creating memories specifically to make my book exciting. Then I didn't even scrapbook Christmas 2017 & 2018 until just a couple months ago. I decided that I would use a 12x12 album, and just scrapbook Christmas 2017-onward in in. I like that it gives me a lot of freedom to add plenty of gift-opening pics, lots of cookie decorating pics, etc. I'm really looking forward to scrapping Christmas 2019. I have a paper pad (Love Nicole Mistletoe and Holly), and with my last ACOT order I bought a Pink Paislee cut apart Christmas paper. I still need embellishments, because I've used them all up. I'm thinking lots of enamel dots and shapes. Some stickers. Not sure what else. Yay!!

I have no idea what I’ll do for Christmas. I have easily 200 or more photos and 3 albums half started. It’s a project I can never fully commit to and complete. Maybe this will be the year I find my groove. But I’m here for all the hoopla that awaits us with sc/ae/dd. Wanna join me in the volume club? I'm going down the December album with several years in it route. It's not as tedious or big a project as a single DD album (and cheaper too) but still as much fun (and you get to buy a new collection of goodies yearly anyway). I just document the memories from December all the way to the end of Epiphany as they happen without worrying about the daily aspect or the "finishing the album" routine, make my own page divider and start a new chapter in the same album the next year. Hmmm, believe it or not, I’ve never scrapped Christmas before I quit scrapping. Or at least barely, I have one Hanukkah layout that I know of, it was published, lol. One of the things that helped me to rationalize not scrapping when I wasn’t scrapping was the overwhelming ‘why bother, I’ll never catch up anyway. So When I came back to scrapping I did so with the conscious choice of not looking back because then it’s all overwhelming. But maybe I could do this and sometimes go backwards, if I feel like it? hmmm, I’ll think about it. Interesting idea. Thank you.

I love the idea of the volume club! I have *most* Christmases scrapped in 8.5x11 and 12x12. Last year was my first year trying JYC style album - it's not finished yet. I love looking at the sneaks but I doubled my Christmas stash last year so I really want to use that up this year. I was also trying not to go smaller than 8.5 x 11 but I love those 6x8 albums so that will be my only purchase. ha! I see what I just did there!

omg, I just came across an "it rubs the lotion on its skin" rub-on sticker on Etsy!! >.< Very curious to see your history of search terms on Etsy, guuuurl... 🔍😲🙈 I'm excited that I don't have to worry about buying anything until Black Friday. I'm already having trouble with the idea that it's August!Scoot over, I'm already dreaming of going back to late May... Shouldn't buy anything this year because I have quite a large Christmas stash but might get tempted by an album and maybe some embellishments - definitely not that creepy santa though. Attack the stash! This board is going to help me finish my album from last year. Yes, we will! And yes, you can! Future victor of the DD games... 😉 Love this thread!! 🎄🎁🎄🎁🎄🎁 And this thread loves you! ❤️🎅💚 In 2014, 2015, & 2016 I did 8x8" DD-esque books. Self-reflection is an important part of life and bettering oneself. It's good that you've come full circle and realised doing things a little differently was more in line with your Christmas season. So glad you've found your December groove and I hope you'll share your Christmas 2019 additions to your album. Cookie decorating all the way! Hmmm, believe it or not, I’ve never scrapped Christmas before I quit scrapping. Or at least barely, I have one Hanukkah layout that I know of, it was published, lol. But maybe I could do this and sometimes go backwards, if I feel like it? hmmm, I’ll think about it. Interesting idea. Thank you. Ooooh, we have a December documenter newbie! YAY! Can't wait to see what you do and how you handle the excitement (and, let's be honest, the bit of pressure too) if you decide to join us this year. December Daily/Journal Your Christmas/documenting the holidays can turn into complete chaos and madness but it's always fun and light-hearted on the board. 😊 Going with Christmas albums in volumes rather than one per year means you can go back in time to add a year whenever you feel like it. Super fun! But if you just want to move forward and scrap the present, no problem either. You do you! All that matters is that you do what tickles your fancy, that's it. Any kind of December documenting is welcome here. Zero rules to live or do by. We love and encourage anything and everything. ✌️☮️🕊️ I love the idea of the volume club! More AE sneaks, rubber pieces. (Sorry no linky, Luddite here.) Love the arrow, Santa face is creepy. Teehee, Santa face *is* odd indeed. More giant rubber pieces this year for those who like them: https://www.instagram.com/p/B0q05FWAtHU Easy to pass. No creepy santas for me.

I’m so ready for this. I didn’t buy new stuff last year and I’ve used up a whole bunch of Christmas stash. I’m ready to buy all the Christmas things! Same. I did so well last year and my stash is super small. So excited!

My fellow Christmas crafters, it is with utter disappointment in myself and my calendar-keeping skills that I must inform you all that we are already a day late with the December Daily MEGAAA thread this year. How was Aug. 2 chosen as the date? It's weird when I quote you, the date changes to 07/20/2016!
Anyway, I have an ongoing Christmas album and bits and pieces of really old collections. I'm looking forward to getting something new especially after my husband's recent purchase of concert tickets!

omg, I just came across an "it rubs the lotion on its skin" rub-on sticker on Etsy!! >.< OK...I cave....someone please explain!! Booty had been quoting/giffing the Silence of the Lambs quote earlier in the thread (serial killer talk - we got there from the creepy cut-cheeked Santa? which now reminds me of the guy with the smile cut into his face from Sons of Anarchy - ugh!) and then I searched rub on stickers and found the "rub the lotion on its skin" rub-on sticker... If you haven't seen Silence of the Lambs we probably shouldn't put the quote in context because the whole thing is pretty disturbing.

Heidi Swapp is releasing a cheap alternative ($8) for DD this year with a holiday album kit in her Winter Wonderland collection. Here's a video in which she shows you her prepped December album using this kit: This is what happens when a scrap person listens to people! Travelers notebooks are extremely popular. Pair this with the excitement of December Daily and she made a smart move!
It looks like a slightly larger size, but then you HAVE to buy what she is selling.

A volume approach is a great idea sleepingbooty. I am really struggling to complete last year's album. I don't like the photos I took, I wasn't in a great place, I didn't go home for the holidays, don't even really love the products I bought, etc. This might be a much better way to do it going forward. I'm hoping I do get 2018 finished before the end of the year. Everything DD is stacked up on the floor of my studio right now. I really want to get my hands on all the Crate Paper collection. I've only bought bits and pieces the last couple of years and I am always kicking myself later for not getting enough.

I've scrapped since 2001, and I have 2 Creative Memories Christmas covers (beautiful!) with only Christmas layouts that I did between then and 2009 or 2010 (when I discovered DD.)
I loved that approach and they are so fun to flip through. A whole trip down memory lane and a quick progression of nearly 10 years of the kids smiles.
I don't at all regret switching to DD style, but I have 2 6X8's for most years, and it's easy to get them out of order and I worry more about them getting damaged from handling.
The other thing.. those layouts in the "volumes" were PURE JOY to make. DD's comes with soooo much stress for me. And back then, it was easy to pick the collection, make pretty things, and move on. No months of agonizing and comparing. I kinda miss that to be honest.
Even saying that, I'll be doing DD again this year lol

How was Aug. 2 chosen as the date? It's weird when I quote you, the date changes to 07/20/2016! Ha, it used to be the 1st of August because of the sneaks dropping left and right come the beginning of August but I'm a known calendar-challenged brain. So Aug. 2 this year. Woops! Also, the date quotes are rarely right on this board (if ever). I'm getting March 17, 2016 for you. Maybe the date we originally signed up? I'm looking forward to getting something new especially after my husband's recent purchase of concert tickets! I smell a perfect excuse! *chef's kiss* Booty had been quoting/giffing the Silence of the Lambs quote earlier in the thread (serial killer talk - we got there from the creepy cut-cheeked Santa? which now reminds me of the guy with the smile cut into his face from Sons of Anarchy - ugh!) and then I searched rub on stickers and found the "rub the lotion on its skin" rub-on sticker... If you haven't seen Silence of the Lambs we probably shouldn't put the quote in context because the whole thing is pretty disturbing. I love how you are trying to spare elegantsufficiency a "pretty disturbing" scene while my first instinct was to not give away any context in case she hadn't seen the movie so she wouldn't get spoiled, joblackford . Sorry about your crappy 2018 Christmas season. I hope you get to make up for it this year. It'll feel great when you can push the project aside and file it away once you're finished with it. Clean slate, fresh page, new chapter and all that jazz. Glad to see other people interested in perhaps pursuing the less stressful volume approach! The other thing.. those layouts in the "volumes" were PURE JOY to make. DD's comes with soooo much stress for me. And back then, it was easy to pick the collection, make pretty things, and move on. No months of agonizing and comparing. I kinda miss that to be honest. Even saying that, I'll be doing DD again this year lol DD sure brings out the masochist in scrapbookers/documenters! It's good to hear that the Christmas volumes were both pure joy to make and remain so much fun to flip through. Win-win as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks to mom pointing out the sneak, we have the first reveal of Color Cast Designs' Christmas 2019 offer. It looks like there are two shades of red with different finishes for the acrylic pieces. The lighter shade has an embossed-ish star effect, the darker one is all sparkles. https://www.instagram.com/p/B0yZ5ajA14G

Embarrassing confession- I’ve started prepping my DD already. Please don’t judge me too harshly! I’m doing a junk journal inspired approach and not using very many pocket pages like I have some other years. I love the mix of textures and interactive elements so much more than the page protectors which have started to feel kind of sterile to me lately. My life has a small lull in the summer that is perfect for scrapping and I know life will be crazy in the fall/winter so I think it’s the best way for me to actually make progress on the project. Added bonus, I can harness the excitement about Christmas from the sneaks and take my time to play with product as opposed to what I actually do in December, which will be much more rushed and by the end I’m usually sick of it anyways. I’m going to resist buying anything this year, although last year I failed and bought a whole bunch of Merry Days and then turned around and bought a KP kit on sale. This is always my favorite thread because I get to spend time with other Christmas fanatics.
