Yes! That is freaking nuts. It just screams greed to me. I feel turned off. Im feeling that about the whole release. The 3x8 transparencies are $1 cheaper that the 6x8 and you get 1/2 of the amount of the 6x8. WTF. And the 4x6 tags are just over $1/sheet for a 4x6 piece of card stock.

My first thought...wow, that is a lot of stuff. They’ve taken the basic idea of adding options for people and blown it way, way out of proportion. Money grab much?
When it comes to the actual kit components - I’ve said it before, I’m a bit tired of Ali’s aesthetic and looking at all of it, it just seems like a giant hodgepodge of stuff. I’m glad I’m not going with her kit this year, I’d have a really hard time figuring what to buy and would have probably overspent. It makes me a little sad that something I used to really look forward to has turned into a Christmas version of the Hunger Games.
I will probably pick up the star album, b/c my stash of pp is all Inked and I don’t have the energy to find an alternative at this point. I’m eyeballing those overpriced number stamps, too. Will be curious to hear what everyone picks up.

Ok, just watched the videos. At the end of the day, I do like some of the components — I just don’t like/want all of them to justify the purchase.
For example, I really like those tiny paper flags. I use things like that all the time on my photos, and it’s be nice to not have to create them. I do like the fabric stars from the mini kit. Did anyone notice Ali said Christmas Love for one of the chipboard in the mini kit when it actually says Christmas Eve? It took me a few seconds to stare at that chipboard because it DOES look like LVE, as in someone forgot the O in love. But I think it’s supposed to say eve. Thats where I am. Trying to decide if its worth buying it, keeping what I want and selling the rest. Kind of a hassle. I did realize I have last years red album unused so that is making it easier to say no to all the albums. I am at the same place. I want a sheet of the chipboard trees, a couple of tags, some cards, etc., to supplement my stash. What pieces does everyone else want? Maybe we can piece out a main kit, lol

Maybe we can piece out a main kit, lol From the Main Kit: I like the acetate number, gold alphabet, xl tags (wouldn't need that many of them though) and some of the 3x4 cards. I would be willing to split: xl tags, puffy sheets (there's 2), cork stars, wood veneer, mini paper flags, 3x4 cards, 4x6 cards, and 6x8 papers. I really only want the red rubber tag but would be willing to let it go too. I DO NOT WANT: Green trees, paper pad, metal tags, hexagons, acetate pieces, gold stars. From Liz's Kit: I want: 1/2 3x4 card, 1/2 4x6 cards, 2puffy stickers, 1 or 2 pieces of chipboard, bag I would split: 3x4 cards, 4x6 cards, chipboard, puffies, I DO NOT WANT: stars, 6x8 papers Things from the shop I'd split: Chipboard (I really only want the word strips) 2 of the 4x6 tags 1 sheet of gold stars ( I have the same stars in red if someone wants to trade) 3x8 journal cards + transparency - I only want one transparency and about 1/3 - 1/2 of the cards Specialty Journal cards - only want about 1/3-1/2 of them

Thoughts on Ali's stuff:
Main Kit - Love the big tags and the white plastic numbers. That's about it. Absolutely NOT worth $50. Glitter trees are horrid. Does anyone know where I can get similar plastic numbers? Can my Cameo cut something like that?
Paislee Mini Kit - I like this one more than the main. Not a fan of some of the 6x8 papers (Happy Everything???).
Kid's kit - Nope. Only thing I like is the 3x4 card with the gnomes.
I'm shocked at the prices. I shouldn't be, but they are outrageous.

Ugh, I wanted that darn die cut bundle, but not sure I want it for $12.99 plus the 3x8 transparency bundle... I really like the main kit but don't really need it. Plus I prefer my albums fairly flat so I have no need for many of the dimensional items. What I need to decide is if I want one of the albums and work from there. I buy from Ali all the time and the prices still shocked me.

Joanns carries Cricut Acetate in a pad (use a coupon and get it for around $5) so yes, Cricut will cut it - they just wont be frosted. You could use vellum though.

I'm just catching up on all of this having got back from holiday a day or so ago...no FOMO for me at all! (phew) I did, however, just spot this tutorial for making a custom sized binder and thought I'd share it here, because it seems to me that many of us have all we need for this year's DD/JYC except for something to put it in!

Yes! That is freaking nuts. It just screams greed to me. I feel turned off. Me too. I wasn’t planning on buying any of her stuff anyway, and after seeing the prices I am so glad. There are absolutely some elements I like, the transparency dividers, the chipboard bundles and the shipping tags, but I am going to spend my money elsewhere. I just cannot support the outrageous pricing. I don’t like the main kit at all. It is so hodgepodgey, and not in a good way. The watercolor cards don’t match the folksy potato print cards and the glitter trees seem like they belong in the kid’s kit. Way too many different aesthetics going on in one kit.

Can we talk about approaches? Who does a full December DAILY - as in, a story/spread for each day? Who does more of a December Memories approach where your album includes a selection of stories from the month in no particular sequence? Who does something else entirely? I guess I’m something else? I started keeping a weekly memory planner last January. Mostly a picture & few sentences per day a few bright stickers/die cuts and it’s good. I have an 6x8.5 format with 2 pages per week. Since I’ve been keeping this I don’t see the point in doing December ‘daily’ because I already have ‘filler’ days where all you get is a sunrise/sunset/ or dog picture & I write it was sunny or rainy. Lol some days just don’t have a story. BUT my planner isn't going to suffice for the holiday days that do have a bigger story. I’m either going to add inserts into my planner and/or I’m going to do a couple of spreads for my 12x12. I like the new more free approach that not every page in your scrapbook must be the same size. It has freed me to do whatever the heck I want and just find or make a page protector for it or punch holes and leave out the PP. back in the day I wouldn’t have thought to make different sizes in one scrapbook. But seeing more & more of it out there I like it so why not! So I’m keeping my planner & some spreads in a scrapbook. Not sure yet wether I’ll just sort out by holiday or not. It intrigues me that I could ‘catch up’ the years I didn’t scrap going back one holiday at a time so I might, but I’m not pressuring myself to ‘catch up’ time will tell. But I’m not doing a proper DD book by itself

Oh my goodness, the prices are cray. I am so glad I do not care for the main kit. There are some pieces I'd like to play with but I'm good to let it pass. I'll pop on to get those big numbers and some of the stickers. I use a LOT of stickers. I'm going to pick up a few things from ACOT and get the simple stories binder.
I'm going to show my kid the kit but at $20 I'm thinking it's a no. If she loves it, I'll get it for her. She did her own album last year and it was freaking priceless. So cute. She really got into it. Such great ideas. It was fun for us to work on them together so worth every penny for me. I bought her the navy 4X6 simple stories album from joann's Monday when they had the free shipping and crazy sale. Less than $8.
Can't wait for the full FYC. I made a mistake in buying the digitals last year. I didn't use them. Going real this time.

I'm hoping to buy nothing this year....maybe the one stamp set with the squares; although, if I go 3 x 8 this year, I probably won't use it and it will sit in the pile of unused stuff that grows every year.
There's just so much stuff being offered by AE this year! It's totally overwhelming and kinda laughable coming from someone who's pretty minimalist in her scrapbooking approach. I know this is her living, but still it seems like it's all too much. It just doesn't sit well with me anymore.
Prices are crazy, too. $25 + for a 6 x 8 album? Not today, Satan.
Anyway, in light of holiday overabundance, I would like to offer a pack of Christmas related supplies to oh, say, the first 10 people to PM their names and addresses. Included, but not limited to, 4 x 6 or 3 x 4 cards, ephemera from years gone by (Making Memories! Basic Grey!), ribbon, washi, pins, random bits and bobs I simply will never use up. Who knows? Maybe I'll even go thru that garden of unused stamps. Please specify whether stamps float your boat or not (no sense sending them on to non-stampers, right?). Who wants one?

I think the only things I’m seriously considering are the 3x8 paper pack and some of the chipboard. The 3x8 pack isn’t terrible for 31 (I think I counted right) pieces for $9.99. As much as I love that green linen 3x8, I think i’m going to roll the dice and see what others have this year. Worse comes to worse I still have the 3x8 with the star pattern from last year sitting unused on my shelf. P.S. Is anyone doing Product Play this year My thoughts exactly. I like the 3x8 journal card from Liz and the green actually does look more on the olive side in the video, so it doesn't work for what i wanted to use the album for--not DD. As of now I don't want anything that I have seen from Ali except the 3x8 set, and none of the KP sneaks, except the stack of butter. I am excited to see what FYC--IACB--has in store and what else KP has. Crate Paper needs to bring it home for me or I will just use my stash. This is why I specifically purchase holiday things that I enjoy as there could be a year where there's nothing that you actually like.

I was tempted for a second, but it was probably just FOMO. I do like a few things, I'm not buying with a 20 dollars shipping fee--especially not scrapbooking AND Inked. And even if I wanted to, I wouldn't out of principle. Inked has become plain greedy. Remember, digitals aren't included.

Hi all, Been following this thread for years but finally decided to register an account so hello to you I was wondering if any aussies know of an alternative to ali’s 6x8 albums? I am not a fan of the kit (or the huge prices, shipping and absolutely terrible exchange rate) but feel I will need to order an album from her which means I may as well add a few extra things to make the $20 shipping worth it unless I can find an alternative album?

The only other December-specific 6x8 albums that we've seen in recent past are by Felicity Jane and Simple Stories. You could consider using a 6x8 album that's not holiday-specific and embellishing it. I'm not sure what the international shipping costs are normally for AE or SC, who do have other 6x8 albums. Also, Kelly Purkey is talking about offering 6x8 and 4x6 albums for the holidays but I think she's having some issues with her manufacturer and isn't sure if they will be available this year. I also don't know if they will be a bound album or if they will be acetate with loose rings, as we've seen her do with Jamaica Edgell in the past.

I really wish AE did an a la carte “build a kit” option, where you choose a set of journaling cards, a sheet of chipboard, stickers and then a few embellishment packs. I am over the bundling and probably used only 50% of the main kit each of the years I got it.
Also maybe it’s my screen settings, but the main kit seems dark.

I buy from Ali every year, and usually a lot. I won't be getting anything this year. I have so much product already, and nothing from her has peaked my interest this year. I think for me it's a combination of prices, color and design. I usually love the majority of the DD release. My wallet is happy this year. I am looking forward to the KP release. I did pick up a few things from Elle's Studio. I'm hoping the FJ kit is a little brighter this year. I will likely get some stuff from FYC, too.

You'd think she'd offer some items at bargain prices - like the die cuts or sticker sheets - to tempt people to buy, but instead everything is priced on the high side, which from this thread, is really turning people off, and from those in the "maybe" camp to a "no".

If anyone is interested in the square stamp, but are put off Kerri Bradford also does a rectangular one www.kerribradford.com/product/digital-stamps-wrapped/Its not available physically at the moment. She may bring it back, but it is available digitally for $4.99 which is a pretty decent price

Exactly. If the prices were even remotely reasonable I would be tempted, despite the high (since I would be just ordering flat and small items) shipping, or I might be tempted to order an overpriced album to make the shipping worthwhile. Instead I will be buying giving my money to KP and FYC. I just can’t endorse the greed of the Ali prices. No one else comes anywhere near them price wise. The smaller independent companies can keep their prices reasonable, why can’t a big company like Inked? I would be willing to pay a bit more for KP and FYC because I know they are small companies compared to Inked. I also really appreciate that KP gives such a generous discount to her subbers. Inked just regularly poops on their subscribers.

I went back and looked at what I ordered last year (a ton of stuff) and compared to the pricing sheet. Almost everything is more expensive or the same price for less product.
For example: the puffy sticker bundle last year was six sheets for $9.99 (two each of three different styles). This year the bundle is the same price for only one of each sheet (three sheets total).
Money. Grab.

I was a bit surprised to see that. I remember that red 2015 4x6 album in 2017 was $2 during bundling. I wish I picked up more than 1. But then it was $8 the last 2 years before they finally got rid of them somehow. They still have the kid's kit from 2 years ago full price! I'm not going anywhere near old stock at full price when there's new stuff. Plus I have too much old stuff still.
