I went back and looked at what I ordered last year (a ton of stuff) and compared to the pricing sheet. Almost everything is more expensive or the same price for less product. For example: the puffy sticker bundle last year was six sheets for $9.99 (two each of three different styles). This year the bundle is the same price for only one of each sheet (three sheets total). Money. Grab. But, but, but tariffs...

The colors of the kit this year are very me. Classic dark green and red.
I don't understand the glitter chipboard trees, but I can give those to kids and I'm cool. I'm going to get the main kit, 3x8 album, and the tags. There are too many other items I like, but I'm trying not to overbuy this year as I did last year *my first getting Ali's main kit*
My album this year will be tag-based. Each day will be 1-2 tags of whatever size fits my story/photo. I'll either punch them into the 3x8 album or I'll get a 6x8 album somewhere (I don't care for any of Ali's) if I end up with a lot of larger ones. My albums have been so uniform lately I really like the idea of something different.

I remember that red 2015 4x6 album in 2017 was $2 during bundling. I wish I picked up more than 1. But then it was $8 the last 2 years before they finally got rid of them somehow. I was going to say the same. I bought a few at that $2 price and the price has never budged since then.

The silver ink pad is $7.50!!!!! I paid $4 for the bundle of Silver/Gold last year. Oh and BTW the inks aren't that good. That is a money grab 100%. I'm sure they didn't order more of those. Just split the gold and silver apart and are charging more.

I was at Disneyland Paris today. Nothing else mattered. I just looked at the 2019 DD prices. I gasped in French.
I repeat: I was at Disneyland for the day. I came home. I sat down. I saw Ali's prices, I gasped. Disneyland. Where everything is marked up. I was still shocked.

Jeez - Ali posted an updated price sheet that includes all the old DD product still available and its at the same prices! If you can't sell it in a year then discount it! They have no shame. Pretty soon they will be selling it on a different site and calling it Objects de Art and charging twice as much. Just like they did with the SC “art prints” that are just 12x12 scrapbook paper.

Objects de Art will help us all.

I'm just catching up on all of this having got back from holiday a day or so ago...no FOMO for me at all! (phew) I did, however, just spot this tutorial for making a custom sized binder and thought I'd share it here, because it seems to me that many of us have all we need for this year's DD/JYC except for something to put it in! Thanks for sharing. I love DIY books and binders.

Hi all, Been following this thread for years but finally decided to register an account so hello to you I was wondering if any aussies know of an alternative to ali’s 6x8 albums? I am not a fan of the kit (or the huge prices, shipping and absolutely terrible exchange rate) but feel I will need to order an album from her which means I may as well add a few extra things to make the $20 shipping worth it unless I can find an alternative album? I’m an Aussie and I usually use the simple stories 6x8 Christmas albums with the 2.5 inch spine. I purchase them from scrapbook. com as that works out cheapest.

I was waiting to see what I thought of Ali's products this year, but what with the shipping fee and the crazy prices on everything, I decided instead to get the Elle's studio kit. Even though I will probably have to pay customs taxes, I feel the kit is worth it. It's cute and cohesive and has more than enough for what I need. So that's my Christmas crafting supplies sorted, now I can focus on the start of the academic year next week.

Dumb question here...so Inked/SC/AE protectors will fit in a Simple Stories binder, you just see the extra holes?

And now Shannan of @shannan_pages on Insta is talking of doing a smaller size other than 3x8. (PS. she has a super cute 3x8 from last year). Her pages are so lovely. They look simple but she has a great design sense. I hope she pick a fully digital system this year so I can copy her.

Does anyone know where I can get similar plastic numbers? Can my Cameo cut something like that? Have a look in an office supply store for plastic file dividers. It will give you a very similar material to these plastic numbers that should go through your Cameo. I've just picked some up to use to make stencils with!

I think that could be the route Im going.

Thank you all for your kind words. I said she died last month but it was July 6th. It has been almost 2 months. Where did all that time go? Do an ongoing holiday album with the things you do have: you can scrap your journaling without pictures from 2017, you can scrap What you do have last year, try noting anything special with your mom. Add what you feel like adding this year in that same album. Then in 2020 you can either continue the way your going or go full daily December scrapping if that’s what you want to do. I’m sorry for your loss I like the idea of putting multiple years together. thank you Im really sorry about your mom, burnbright . I know me, and I would leave it til next year if I didnt feel like doing it. IF I felt like doing it, I would probably find stock photos for 2017 and use them when I needed to. And also do some pages without any photos, just telling the story. For 2018 I would just do the important stuff and let the rest go. And for 2019, I would do a small album so you dont feel like you have to have something holiday every single day in case it becomes overwhelming. thanks for the ideas. Low key/ pressure is a good idea. burnbright , I am so sorry about your mom. The first Christmas without someone you love is so so tough. As for your what to do with your album, have you thought about Journal Your Christmas? I think It is much more focused on memories than a December Daily. Shimelle gives you prompts to think about each day. So you have the option of doing a page using one of the prompts or doing page featuring what you actually did that day. It might be a lovely memory to your mom that can be totally private. Then you can make a super cute small album for your daughter. The used to sell 4x4 albums. That would be the perfect size for wee little hands. You would still be able to use cute christmas papers, enjoy your daughter looking through it, and have a lovely remembrance journal about your mom. I have seen lists of December prompts before but I haven't heard of Journal Your Christmas. I will look it up. thank you burnbright , I am so sorry about your mom. My daughter saw the Ali albums and said she liked the 4x6 because it was little like her. I will have to see who prints small books. burnbright I agree about JYC. That's what I was going to suggest too. Shimelle started that project when she was going through hard times that made her struggle to love Christmas, and it's perfect for a more flexible project that looks to both the recent or distant past and the present, and even the future, depending on what you want to do. It can be a journal or an album or whatever you want it to be, and you can do it any time. You could use the JYC prompts to create a personal journal for this year, or you could use it as a framework to organize the last few years into an album. I would suggest, like others did, that you work with what you have from the previous incomplete years. Create some highlight pages from each year, include what you have. If you feel motivated you could certainly use stock photos or alternative ways to illustrate your memories, but I would throw out the DAILY part of the project. Something is always better than nothing. But now might not be the time to tackle it. Allow yourself the space to do nothing this year, if that's what feels best. It will be very difficult this year, I'm sure, and it sounds like you still have grief over losing photos in 2017 too. That might just be too much to handle this December. Or working through a project may be a healing process. I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for the advice. Getting rid of daily is probably the best first step. I could add a calendar page if I want. burnbright , I am so sorry about your mom. The first Christmas without someone you love is so so tough. I was thinking the same thing, that Shimelle’s Journal Your Christmas may be a better fit; it doesn’t have the pressure of documenting a story of what you did every day, but rather you get daily prompts, that can be applied to current or past Christmas seasons. Going back, if it were me, for 2017 I would fill in with stock photos from the internet or even generic photos of your home or of people from close to that timeframe. For 2018, I would follow the JYC format and document Christmas stories, no daily required. burnbright I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Nicole Reaves lost her mother and was struggling too about whether to document december - so she focused on finding one moment of joy each day. nicolereaves.com/blog/2018/2/2/my-completed-december-2017-albumI've struggled this past year as my son has been sick and off school for the whole year. It helped to try and find one thing each day to be thankful for. Hope this helps Her album is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing that. I think I will watch the video a second time when my head clears a little. I'm sorry to hear about your son. Missing school sounds like a dream to most kids but the reality is much harder. burnbright adding my condolences too and seconding everything that's been said here. Some great advice and a lot of love too. The thing is, if all of that Christmas memory stuff is on your mind, like the elephant in the room, perhaps relieving yourself of a bit of it could be cathartic? Might be helpful/comforting to sit and write a bit about what you remember, even if it's just the frustration of losing all those photos. I find that I need to work through things that are on my mind like that, or I simply dwell on them forever. My first Christmas without my Mum was tough, but I remember some quote I found which went along the lines of "sitting in a comfy chair and wrapping my memories around me like a hug" - and that seemed to sum it all up. @northrigg thanks for that link. That is a lovely quote. If I can get an album done so I can look at it at Christmas, I think it will help. I looked at some photos for Dec 2017 and it was nice seeing my mom happy. A quote I say recently was "Sometimes memories sneak out of my eyes and roll down my cheeks". It feels appropriate a lot of the time. I am going to think about what everyone has suggested. I only have digital supplies so I don't need to buy anything right away. I will still stalk the thread though. There are so many pretty things and the commentary is the best.

After at first deciding not to do a December Daily album at all this year, I've now changed my mind and want to do a 3x8 album. I plan on using my stash for it, though, so I only need the album and page protectors. Unfortunately, the shipping to Canada for Ali's is as much as the album is. I'm on the hunt for a festive 3x8 album without atrocious shipping costs to Canada. Argh, frustrating.

burnbright I am so very sorry for your loss. My mother was battling lung and brain cancer in December 2014 and she passed January 6th 2015. I made my album that year and it was full of many sad days but they're are also good days too in there. I helped her make out her Christmas Cards that year, wrapped her gifts, she was able to go out one day with all the females in the family shopping for a couple of hours. My album in 2015 was very sad too I had 3 family members die that month and then missing my mom. But I always find a way each year to include her in my albums. I include a favorite recipe, I always decorate her grave festive and include pictures. I have newspaper clippings of articles she saved and make copies and put them in my album. I also have papers where she wrote memories down or other things she saved over the years and I will add something to make sure she is represented in album. I will be honest and say it is still hard and when my family looks at my albums and see those pages we cry.

Thanks for sharing that. The other style (in a previous post that she links to) also looks like it might be a good fit for some people. It's more of a TN style binder, or you could house your own bound books in there. One year I just folded a bunch of lightweight cardstock in half and grouped them into signatures and sewed them into a little book. Very easy, and the half-letter-size (or A5ish) is a really nice compromise size.

I get that it’s not the same country but gee parts of Canada are closer to the warehouse than states of America. You’d think you’d pay a more reduced rate.

Color Cast Designs has an acrylic TN album that you can use 3x8 protectors with (if you already have some of those hanging around). I used it earlier this year to make a 3x8 album for my Montreal trip and it worked great! Colar Cast is a US company so I am not sure about her shipping but it is probably cheaper than Ali.

Hello, everyone! It's been forever...I'm so glad to see this familiar place after a long absence. And especially this wonderful December Daily thread!!! Could someone remind me - is the old Jasmine Jones album dark green or black? I want it to be black, but suspect it's not... Thanks in advance!
