I bought a die from AE with something like this in mind. I wonder if the die would actually cut the box? Hmmm

I bought white cardstock, glue and Ali's 6x8 page protectors earlier today. Nothing fancy but very much needed. I've been working on DD from 2009 before I ran out of the basics. I'd like to learn to sew before December. I bought a sewing machine last year and haven't touched it! How is everyone else doing? You should learn to sew! I taught myself using you tube videos. Just google your machine + learn to sew and see what pops up. This is on my list for December/January to learn how to use my machine which is unopened since 2017

I don't need any Christmas papers. Almost afraid to open up my Christmas cupboard in case it explodes all over me. But I saw the Tim Holtz Christmas Paper stash in an email from a LSS, and I LIKE it! I have become used to his papers being too grungy for my style, but I really like these colours. And the designs. What do you think? They are not as grungy as other collections. I think they would go nicely with the Heidi Swapp Wonderland collection. I would need to adda few happier colors though.

This all reminds me that a Lifetime movie was filmed in my old house - that was neat. It starred Linda Purl and Perry King and was called Stranger at the Door. If you ever see it as a rerun - that's where I lived! It wasn't my furniture, though. That movie is my small claim to fame. How super cool is that?

If you don't want to order the whole kit or pay shipping or whatever, I got very similar candy canes in the Michaels section of mini xmas decorations. They aren't flat but they're the same thickness. They're red with white stripes. I will not be getting out my xmas stuff until the day after thanksgiving so I can't share a pic right now. Thanks for the tip. I did purchase the Elle's studio ones, but one can always use MOAR Christmas stuff.

I was going to say this as well! It was so long ago I don't remember at all, haha. I made a light bulb pillow and "something" else. I don't think I ever even finished. lol Then when my daughter was little I made her a short outfit with the help of my mil. But I would love to get a sewing machine now just for crafting!

I have a few things in my cart from Pretty Little Things. Today, I went through and gathered a bunch of my Christmas/Holiday supplies and put it all together in one place. I have a lot of stuff I forgot about—rub on transfers, stickers, PL cards, die cuts... Now I’m hesitant to buy more, but I really like this bauble paper and these tree die cuts. I’m hesitant because I don’t know if they will match the rest of what I have. ETA—I caved and bought them...plus a whole lot more. Most—but not all—of it was Christmas. I did get some Halloween and some summer/zoo items too. Now I really need to be DONE buying stuff. D-O-N-E!

Hi everyone, So sorry for the delay, but I uploaded those calendars I spoke of a week or so ago. They’re Monday to Sunday as it was going to take to long to move everything around to make them Sunday- Monday. They’re on my blog theredwren.com/2019-december-calendars/I haven’t uploaded anything for ages so I hope there no problems! Thanks 😊

LOL Actually I did! But that was so long ago I had forgotten! I had to make a 'M' shaped pillow and an apron! We made an apron and a pillow, I chose a hamburger. I think my mom gave my pillow to my nephew. We also made a stuffed animal. I most distinctly remember Chad Peterson kept calling me monkey fingers because the teacher made an off hand comment about how we should use chopsticks or pencils to help push out parts of the stuffed animal before stuffing, “unless you have monkey fingers”. Right as she said that I was merrily pushing out the stuffed animal with my fingers (they are long, my mother always said it was a shame I didn’t want to play piano, so for the rest of the term CP called me monkey fingers. Damn Chad Peterson.

I guess you gals weren’t forced to take Home Ec in middle school lol. Wow, do I feel old! I had to take Home Ec in 8th grade lol! I went to Middle School, so it was 7th-9th. We took sewing and foods in 7th grade, 9 weeks each and then we could choose the longer semester course in 9th again. I took Foods in 9th which is when I made my first Buche de Noel for extra credit in both French and the Food class. We also had a child care course, which is when I cemented the idea of becoming a teacher. I don’t even think they offer them anymore. My nephew goes to the same school, I will have to ask him.

Home Ec in middle school here (1977-1979). I made a handkerchief blouse and had to sew lace on the sleeves. How stupid was I?1?! 😬

What a fun idea! Love the full page! http://instagr.am/p/B4w1pXVoT3e I love pages like this! Babz510 on Instagram does similar pages in her December Daily. I've always loved them. I think we need to go back to Home Ec in schools. Or at the very least life skills, managing a bank account, credit cards, school loans, how mortgages work. Plus basic cooking skills. I still use the method I learned in 8th grade to make pancakes. My kids take home ec in 7th and 8th grade, just one semester each year.

How stupid was I?1?! 😬 Funny, I didn't think of what I made until reading you alls' posts. I made an animal pillow - monkey - and a wrap skirt. I wasn't following the teacher's directions (big surprise) and accidentally pinked a hole in the skirt. Then, I forgot to show up for the "fashion show" where we were supposed to wear our creations. I remember being in class and hearing the phone ring, and immediately realized I had forgotten to go to the show!

No Home Ec classes in the French public education. However, my mother is a good seamstress and terrific knitter so I picked up all the basics from her. Ironically, the threads craft I developed the most are the useless ones (embroidery and lacemaking). Considering the state of budgets allocated to public education (and *cut*) + the difficult conditions teachers are working under these days, I doubt many Western governments are interested in investing in Home Economics and Personal Finances classes. I wish things were different, however. Finances, in particular, should be an essential pillar in education. ETA: I did have a class called Technology in France. Always 100% chaos. I remember making an electric mosquito killer that we had absolutely no use for living in a Mediterranean climate of drought, drought, drought. I have no clue what I learned in that class. I only remember soldering stuff (and the teacher shouting threats to whomever thought about "prank burning" a classmate, ahem).

Oh yeah. 😂 It wasn't about technology per se though, more like creating an electronic object from start to finish. This was a class I dreaded--I was long-sighted and have no binocular vision: tiny things to cut with big tools or even to solder were often a mess. And it was chaos in the classroom indeed! I remember teeenage boys running around with some kind of baby welding torches or middle-sized saws. I remember making an egg timer when I was 12. The thing was big, red and yellow with a button on top--they all looked like dangerous devices. 🤔
