Here's an update on my half brained idea of painting a turquoise AE 3x8 album - it worked perfectly! Like, I am really surprised, lol. I taped everything off with painters tape (the inside, the bookplate and added multiple coats of acrylic paint. The final coat I thinned the paint with just a smidge of water and it thinned it just enough to work out any flaws. For the inside, I taped it off but I still had a touch of paint get on the map pattern. So I let it dry and then took a wet q-tip and it removed the rouge paint.
*clapping* I am so excited. In between the coats of paint, I pulled some digitals I already had and started making 3x8 photos, and printed off a handful of digital elements. My plan is to do some dig-some regular scrap type pages. Not going for most inventive, but instead, done. I am going to clean up my studio tonight and get started tomorrow. I don't think it will take long to put together. I want to have a photo order to Persnickity Prints by Monday for the 3x8 photos. There really isn't a good place locally to get those printed.

Any updates on Product Play 3? I was hoping to get reviews on Amy and Pam's tutorials although I know Pam's lessons have yet to be released. Thanks! Me too. Just not sure whether the $$ is worth it at this stage. Im still passing. Sure, Amy will have some great pages (she always does), I just don't think they will be anything that I can't recreate on my own.

What a great idea. I am going to have to get these for my husband. He's addicted to Starbucks. Funny/not funny story: I have always taught underprivileged children. We had a field trip to the zoo. During lunch I am sitting with the mom volunteers. For some reason they start discussing coffee. Forgetting who my audience was I blurted like an idiot that my husband buys Starbucks everyday on his way to work. The looks of horror I got were pretty intense. One of the moms did the math and was appalled at the waste of money. I sheepishly said I would have to talk to my husband and have him stop. They were very relieved for me. When I got home, I shared the story with my husband. We were so incredibly grateful that buying a daily cup of coffee from Starbucks is no big deal for us. I'm sorry you had that experience! No one should be shamed for their purchases or how they live their lives. Do what you can. Some people spend their money on worse crap than a cup of coffee every day. I love those acrylic candy canes! If you don't want to order the whole kit or pay shipping or whatever, I got very similar candy canes in the Michaels section of mini xmas decorations. They aren't flat but they're the same thickness. They're red with white stripes. I will not be getting out my xmas stuff until the day after thanksgiving so I can't share a pic right now. Nicky Laatz has a Christmas lettering freebie today for anyone interested. Thanks! I may have just found my title page. I will need these. I always buy one of the Red Cup ones for my DD but liking these Holiday Stand Up Trees... Me too! I always put the cup gift card in my albums but they were only selling as a 3 pack and I didn't like all of them. I just buy them and transfer the balance to my gold card (from like 4 versions ago of their loyalty program, ha). It turned out so well! I love it. I also love everyone's ideas to turn the map inside into some sort of santa tracker.

I got my FJ order yesterday. It was my first time ordering from FJ and a couple items were the wrong ones. Instead of the Noël chipboard accents and Noël girl stamp I received the Noël puffy word stickers and the Noël stamp set. The rest of the items I ordered (and there were more than a few...) look like they will be fun to use and will compliment a lot of papers and styles. I really like the Rebekah stuff I got—but admittedly, I’m a sucker for leopard print. Anyone have experience with FJ customer service? I’m going to email today about the incorrect items that I received. I’d like to still get the chipboard accents and the Noël girl stamp, but the world won’t end if I don’t. FJ order update: I emailed last weekend, she said she would send me the missing items, and I received them today! She also told me to keep the incorrect items to cover the inconvenience. I’m absolutely impressed—not just with the quality of the items but that is impressive customer service! I bet she was crazy busy with the holiday release and recent kit release. I will definitely be placing another order with Felicity Jane again!!

I had to hide from my MIL today so I went to see Last Christmas. The Rotten Tomatoes reviews were mixed, but I found it quite enjoyable. Like most British romcoms it was pretty light on both rom and com, rather more of an amusing click flick (I don't know what to call it). I was totally OK with it not being like an American romcom - I'm a fan of the Australian devastating-tragedy-in-the-middle comedy (think Muriel's Wedding) and since the cast were all very attractive/talented and the settings wonderful (London - why are you so far away?! and expensive?!) and I appreciate the more natural-feeling diversity of non-American films...
Anyway, Emilia Clarke has a delightful face and the plot was slightly more robust than a Hallmark movie. I have a pretty low bar for such things. Oh, and if you're a George Michael fan you'll have a great time. So I will recommend it, with the warning that it's probably not going to be the best movie you've ever seen, but it should make you smile. I might go back and see it again in December if it's still playing.
I'm watching the new Hallmark "Picture a Perfect Christmas" which is set in a very fictional version of the county I live in. VERY fictional. I haven't managed to sit through a new Hallmark romance for a long time, so we'll see if this one holds my attention.
On Netflix there's a classic "man out of time" trope romance coming up - some cheesy Knight before Christmas or some other play on Knight... My friend sent me the trailer and it looked terrible and fun. Vanessa Hudgens again. Hopefully a bit better than the Princess Switch. I think it might be out next week??

joblackford my tolerance for Hallmark movies is hard to predict. For some odd reason I loved the Princess Switch. I found Vanessa Hudgens so charming. I also admit to loving The Christmas Prince. Where else do you see the Borg Queen as the head of a faux European monarchy?

The prep party is all over Facebook. Looks like fun!
Our troop’s big Harry Potter fundraiser is tomorrow and I had to put all of my energy into that.
Can’t wait to start next week. I have an idea for the title page thanks to the link from earlier.

I don't need any Christmas papers. Almost afraid to open up my Christmas cupboard in case it explodes all over me. But I saw the Tim Holtz Christmas Paper stash in an email from a LSS, and I LIKE it! I have become used to his papers being too grungy for my style, but I really like these colours. And the designs. What do you think?

I always like the traditional patterns in his papers, and don’t mind the grunge. Love the 8x8 size, too. Still, I have leftovers from past years, and this isn’t that different, so whew, I don’t have to buy it!

I just shopped the Elle’s Studio new release. Got some puffy stickers (always!) and the cute circle stamp set. The design team does a great job with her product, and the layouts really sell it for me. I am more than set to document December at this point!

I still haven't purchased anything for my December album. I did, however, shop at Sephora. Has anyone bought any of the 6x6 paper pads from AliExpress before? I saw some cute wintery ones and since it's the 11.11 sale tomorrow, I might cave and get a couple.

Nicky Laatz has a Christmas lettering freebie today for anyone interested. Thanks so much for sharing! I love Nicky's lettering and missed out one some of last year's daily freebies so I'm very glad I got these. So, yeah, not only bikini clad, but many of them were even less clothed - you know those little stickers that strippers use to cover their nipples... they'd have pasties Tuesdays, or pasties everyday at some stands... But why? Looking so classy and Christmassy! I love it, mom. I had to hide from my MIL today so I went to see Last Christmas. The Rotten Tomatoes reviews were mixed, but I found it quite enjoyable. Like most British romcoms it was pretty light on both rom and com, rather more of an amusing click flick (I don't know what to call it). Gosh, now I really hope it shows in one of the small city theatres I can easily access because Booty is not the kind to take a couple of buses to get to a multiplex. I do like a dorky, British rom-com, especially a seasonal one. The trailer hits me right in the Christmas feels. Thanks for sharing your feedback! For some odd reason I loved the Princess Switch. I found Vanessa Hudgens so charming. I enjoyed the Princess Switch, too. Despite the terrible British accent job. I thought it was endearing and showcased Vanessa's Disney acting skills really well. She works well with this kind of script. I'm so watching the Knight Before Christmas this year. It looks like that mix of cheesy and funny that I can get down with for the holidays.

I bought white cardstock, glue and Ali's 6x8 page protectors earlier today. Nothing fancy but very much needed for DD.
I had been working on DD 2009 before I ran out of basics.
I'd like to learn to sew before December. I bought a sewing machine last year and haven't touched it!
How is everyone else doing?

1- how many ‘ugly’ Christmas sweaters can one main character wear in one movie
2- who tells Santa to not eat cookies?

The prep party was super fun and got my creative juices flowing again... I've been in a bit of a scrapbooking slump. First it was moving and being too busy, and now I've had trouble adjusting to scrapbooking in the main living area in our temporary apartment rather than having my own private space.
I completed my title page and made a fun stamped divider for day 7, but ultimately decided to not do foundation pages. I've enjoyed them in the past, but this year I just wasn't feeling it. I am really more inspired by Amy Gretchen more than anyone else and she doesn't do them, so that might be why. So I thought long and hard about WHY I wanted to do foundation pages in the past and found that it was really to help me remember which supplies I had so I didn't forget to use the specific embellishments/cards when I had a related story. I also liked to have my numbers selected because it's a pain digging through number sets for the one I need only to realize that it is already used.
So I decided to organize my supplies accordingly, rather than make foundation pages. I broke all my number sets up and put them into numbered ziplock bags... one for every number 0 - 25 and one for 26+ (I only do pages through the 25th). Then I used 6x8 pocket protectors as "pockets" to hold specific themes. I wrote themes on sticky notes like "santa/christmas list" "decorations/lights" "christmas trees" then went through all my DD supplies and put items that fit each theme into that pocket. The idea is that when I tell a story related to that theme I will dig through that pocket first to select my supplies. General Christmas supplies are organized by type rather than theme and I will dig through those next as I create. One issue I have is that there are some supplies that can't be broken up (e.g. sticker sheets) but we'll see, if this system really works as a long term Christmas storage system, I might consider cutting up sticker sheets and sticking those in the pouches.
I'm super excited for December Daily now! I do regret buying the main DD kit from AE and wish I had just picked up a few of the a la carte items and stuck with the crate paper release and my stash. So next year I will keep that in mind hopefully.
I create daily pages with one story each day and am doing a 6x8 album. Although I try to make my page every day, it isn't always practical with my schedule so sometimes I will catch up a few days at a time, but tend to stay pretty caught up. I share my pages on instagram daily also. I really wanted to invest in a minc for this year, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy that AND a laser printer, especially while we're in a temporary housing situation with downsized crafting space. So hopefully I will make that a priority next year!
Now I have my supplies all organized and stashed away and I am motivated to work on project life. We have a 3-day weekend here for Veteran's Day so tomorrow (other than a few morning errands) I plan to continue scrapping and hopefully I will finally start catching up on my project life album!

I work full-time, and some days nothing happens and some days two things happen. So I tend to get a couple pages done during the week then catch up on the weekends.

I'm watching the new Hallmark "Picture a Perfect Christmas" which is set in a very fictional version of the county I live in. VERY fictional. I haven't managed to sit through a new Hallmark romance for a long time, so we'll see if this one holds my attention. The Hallmark movie that played last weekend was filmed in a small town 15 minutes from my house - Almonte, Ontario. It was really neat to see all of the familiar places on TV. Megan Follows (Anne of Green Gables) was the director of the movie. My cousin's son worked in a shop there and Megan and the cast would come in and chat. It was called Christmas Around The Corner - the one that takes place in a bookstore. Christmas Scavenger Hunt was filmed there, too, plus in a few other small towns near me. That one was hilarious with the main guy managing to bring back some kid's mom from active duty in the course of an afternoon, lol. It was so bad; I've been telling everyone because I still can't believe they tried to pull off that storyline. Plus Tom Arnold was really stuffed up and it was so distracting. This all reminds me that a Lifetime movie was filmed in my old house - that was neat. It starred Linda Purl and Perry King and was called Stranger at the Door. If you ever see it as a rerun - that's where I lived! It wasn't my furniture, though. That movie is my small claim to fame. lasteve1 you sound super organized. I don't do foundation pages, either, because I like to choose my paper and embellishments to match my photo/theme for the day as it happens. I just have all of my Christmas supplies in a bin, though. I may have to do some further sorting, I like your sticky note idea.

Y'all. I just spent a crazy amount of time making one damn pocket. Like, there's nothing special about it but I it took me 5 tries to get anything. You would think I was a new crafter with how wrong everything has been going! In the end, I still messed it up - the 'notch' I diecut in it, so you could see there will be a tag in it, is too deep but whatever. At this rate I won't ever be done.
