I have been looking at new cars, they all have spares. Which cars don’t come with spares? That is just weird. My old car didn't have a tyre, it came with a foam so you could fill the tyre up and drive it to the garage. Our current car doesn't have a tyre either, but that's because an LPG tank got fitted into the spare tyre's space (LPG is amazing, it's cheap! (Although still expensive by US terms I think) It's really economical!) Anyway, I got my Felicity Jane kit today. I was slightly concerned that may parcel had tape all over it saying OPENED AND RESEALED BY CUSTOMS, but all is okay. I was really expecting a customs charge for this considering the cost of it (one billion dollars) but I've not been charged and I am counting my blessings. I've never ordered from FJ before and I am utterly blown away by just how beautifully everything is packed and how good the quality of everything is. I've just sat down for a good half an hour with a coffee and my first mince pie of the season going through everything. I love it, it's the first kit in a very long time where I've got very, very excited about creating.

I have been looking at new cars, they all have spares. Which cars don’t come with spares? That is just weird. several in fact 28% of cars have no spare. Though some of those are equipped with run flat tires but not all of them. You can google which cars are not equipped with spares & you’ll find a list but the list doesn’t differentiate which have run flat. And some that have a spare it isn’t a full spare but a donut. I do have a full spare - it’s a feature I check before I buy. I want to know what I’m dealing with. ( I also look that it’s actually there too, got up & walked out just before signing on the line for our mini van because it wasn’t under there, bought the same model at another dealer with the spare. ) I consider a donut a spare, so there is that, but I am shocked that some new cars don’t even come with those. That is mind boggling to me, even though in 30+ years of driving I have only once needed my spare. The things you learn on two peas!

I have been looking at new cars, they all have spares. Which cars don’t come with spares? That is just weird. Our minivan did have the option to get one but we had to buy the bracket and everything to hold it on. Then, it would be mounted in the front underside of the car. I would never have been able to get it out to use it. So we opted not to buy it. Our car guy told us it would be cheaper to get a roll back to tow it to a tire shop. Of course we’ve had two flat tires and chosen to limp it to a tire place. I didn’t mean to be so critical guys! I was just saying! My husband still probably gets in excess of 50 checks for his business. They are still very much in use. Most people think Checks are dead but they are not.

I'm loving how completely off-topic we've gotten!
I just bought a car last night and it has a spare. I don't know if it's a donut or not. I have AAA. I know how to change a flat but you will not see me ever doing it.
Just call the number and wait for them to come and do it for you.
I'm 45 and this was the first new car I've ever bought. It's a Honda HRV and I LOVE it. I had a Subaru Crosstrek and the seat was killing my back. I bought it used from my brother about 5 years ago.
In DD news, I'm working on my title page. Photoshop is making me mad. I'm trying to change the color of the word art I downloaded and the magic want is not being precise.
I'm going to have to zoom the heck in but now I'm at work and I can't.

Most people think Checks are dead but they are not. No probs, Julie! 😘 Undoubtedly, they're still being used but definitely in decline, especially in younger generations and big cities. It's just unnecessary to balance a checkbook if you're no longer using checks regularly, that's all we were commenting on. For the heavy check users, I'd assume you better keep track of your checks as you write them and continue the checkbook tradition. I'm loving how completely off-topic we've gotten! Checks, spare tyres and education! We cover it all in here... 👍 In DD news, I'm working on my title page. Photoshop is making me mad. Ah, the annoying detail work in Photoshop, when everything's pixellated and minutes tick by as you try to get it just right. 🔎 I don't envy you!

I'm still going over DCWV stacks and keep going back to the Christmas Traditions one. It's just so versatile and a great modernised take on classic Christmas elements. What do the DD-ers say? Has anyone seen this IRL or on YouTube?

I have been looking at new cars, they all have spares. Which cars don’t come with spares? That is just weird. My car didn't come with a spare and I got it in 2010. I have run flat tires so if you do get a flat you can drive safely for 50 miles to the nearest repair shop. Haven't had a problem and its 2019. I have a lot of room in my trunk b/c don't need a spare. My 1996 Toyota Corolla had a donut tire and I knew how to put that on. And I believe I used it twice during the time I drove that car.

hey are still very much in use. Most people think Checks are dead but they are not. Can I just say I get super annoyed when some old person pulls out a checkbook at the grocery store AFTER everything is bagged and starts filling everything a la Tim Conway's old man? It's all I can do to not shout and say "Use your damn debit card!" And BTW, I am 61, not a youngster at all.

When I’m at Walmart I use the “exact amount” and the computer prints it. I mean I’m sorry if I’m holding up the line, I try to be respectful. I’m 42.

http://instagram.com/p/B407MiIgkT9 This is so simple. The text is not black. It’s like a pine green, the same color as the dots in the album. The black did not look right. It’s on a transparency on top of plain red paper. The 2019 is stuck to the transparency . I’m going to feel this out for a few days. @northrigg, love that collection. Wish we could see more of it.

I love that DCWV pad. If I could find it, I'd probably snatch it up. and that collection from Sahinddesigns? LLLLLLOOOOVVVEEE that as well. I really wish designers would not wait til mid-Nov to release their Christmas offerings. For real. By now, most people know what they are using.
Get 👏 with 👏 the 👏 program 👏 people!

Has anyone seen this IRL or on YouTube? Yes I have this paper pad in my stash. I will say that the colours are a lot darker than they appear in this image. It's not my favourite because a lot of it is too dark for my liking. I ended up using a few of the papers for my daughter to make Christmas cards with last year.

Wow, Elif made the DD thread! I had no clue you were into digital collections, @northrigg . Elif is my fave designer on the Lilypad. If you've seen my digital LO's on the Challenges board, you've most certainly seen her designs since 90% of the digi stuff I use is from her shop. Can you not put the Snowflake stuff aside for next year and use what makes your heart skip a beat for this December? Seems to make the most sense. I'm not sure if you're aware of the size of a digi collection but I doubt you could use Elif Sahin's new collection and get a full DD/JYC out of it except if you go minimalist. You'd need to supplement with other goods. Here's the total size of Elif's 2018 White Christmas collection: mom Digital designers aren't directly competing with December Daily kit offers. It's completely normal in the digi scrap world to release Christmas collections closer to the holidays. I can't fault Elif for "only" releasing her Christmas collections (I was chatting with her on IG yesterday and she confirmed the non-traditional colour scheme one was next) between mid-November and early December. As a matter of fact, Liz Tamanaha is also yet to launch her new digital Christmas line. This is the timeline, this is the programme in the digital scrap sphere. Sorry, physical scappers, we're a sack of lazy bones who can afford to wait nice and late into the year... missbellejane Thanks so much for letting us know! I'm disappointed to hear it looks so dark and dreary IRL. But you've just helped me make up my mind (not ordering it). Merci beaucoup.

sleepingbooty yep I'm a hybrid scrapper. Slowly moving to just buying digital. I'm also pretty minimalist/like to make my own things/have a sizeable stash to supplement any kit. I'll wait for the release and then go through what I made and make a decision whether I start again or not

The prep party was super fun and got my creative juices flowing again... I've been in a bit of a scrapbooking slump. First it was moving and being too busy, and now I've had trouble adjusting to scrapbooking in the main living area in our temporary apartment rather than having my own private space. I completed my title page and made a fun stamped divider for day 7, but ultimately decided to not do foundation pages. I've enjoyed them in the past, but this year I just wasn't feeling it. I am really more inspired by Amy Gretchen more than anyone else and she doesn't do them, so that might be why. So I thought long and hard about WHY I wanted to do foundation pages in the past and found that it was really to help me remember which supplies I had so I didn't forget to use the specific embellishments/cards when I had a related story. I also liked to have my numbers selected because it's a pain digging through number sets for the one I need only to realize that it is already used. So I decided to organize my supplies accordingly, rather than make foundation pages. I broke all my number sets up and put them into numbered ziplock bags... one for every number 0 - 25 and one for 26+ (I only do pages through the 25th). Then I used 6x8 pocket protectors as "pockets" to hold specific themes. I wrote themes on sticky notes like "santa/christmas list" "decorations/lights" "christmas trees" then went through all my DD supplies and put items that fit each theme into that pocket. The idea is that when I tell a story related to that theme I will dig through that pocket first to select my supplies. General Christmas supplies are organized by type rather than theme and I will dig through those next as I create. One issue I have is that there are some supplies that can't be broken up (e.g. sticker sheets) but we'll see, if this system really works as a long term Christmas storage system, I might consider cutting up sticker sheets and sticking those in the pouches. I'm super excited for December Daily now! I do regret buying the main DD kit from AE and wish I had just picked up a few of the a la carte items and stuck with the crate paper release and my stash. So next year I will keep that in mind hopefully. I create daily pages with one story each day and am doing a 6x8 album. Although I try to make my page every day, it isn't always practical with my schedule so sometimes I will catch up a few days at a time, but tend to stay pretty caught up. I share my pages on instagram daily also. I really wanted to invest in a minc for this year, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy that AND a laser printer, especially while we're in a temporary housing situation with downsized crafting space. So hopefully I will make that a priority next year! Now I have my supplies all organized and stashed away and I am motivated to work on project life. We have a 3-day weekend here for Veteran's Day so tomorrow (other than a few morning errands) I plan to continue scrapping and hopefully I will finally start catching up on my project life album! That is a BRILLIANT approach to 'foundation pages'/prep.

It looks great! Is that your own lettering? Thanks! I keep thinking it needs more but with all those polka dots it's just so busy. No, it was posted a couple pages back. It was a free download -- like 5 or 6 various word arts to print. Nicky Laatz. nickylaatz.com/free/36-5-handlettered-christmas-pngs

Do we have a recent December album example of someone who used exclusively 1 kit to make it entirely, only supplementing with basics like cardstock, striped pattern paper, basic alpha or numeral stamps, etc.?

I have been looking at new cars, they all have spares. Which cars don’t come with spares? That is just weird. Mine. 2019 Infiniti QX50. Not a cheap car, no spare, no donut, no option for one. Gonna be a problem on a road trip if we’re in the middle of nowhere. DH will buy a full size spare and put it in the cargo area if we ever drive it out west to the hinterlands.

First bit of Christmas décor went up. I bought this little house garland and wanted to see how it would look hanging. I guess it's staying up until January now.
