It's on the epic thread board, but there are no pictures! Most of the pictures weren't there on 2peas anymore, anyway. Probably due to hosting issues. So who's in for part 2 of the Mormon/Catholic kitsch thread battle?

Was that a Moroni tree topper?
I saw two elders in Walmart today. I was talking to Muslim friends of mine so I didn't go say hi. I mean what would I say, right? LOL

Sadly, I no longer have my Moroni tree topper, so I can take a photo for you. I'm super broken up about it.

I could have asked the Elders today if they had seen them. We were in the discount centre of the universe, WalMart.
They looked very clean in their white shirts and ties. Do they ever get to take off their uniforms and just be men?

Did the kitsch thread have the jello molds as well? Because I loved all the odd jello molds. Was that a separate thread? That one needs to make an appearance as well.

The Catholic / Mormon kitsch off was an example of the best that NSBR brings us... lots and lots of good natured funny posts. I will have to start assembling my ammunition for future posts but as an opening salvo I bring you - glow in the dark holy water bottles.

The Virgin Mary USB drive. Please note that on her halo it says 'Oh Maria please keep my data safe' and when the drive is in use the Immaculate Heart of Mary glows red.

The bonus of redoing this thread... a whole new Pope! Even better - a Pope from S. America (a prime font of Catholic kitsch). I now really, really regret not taking pictures of some things I saw in Buenos Aires. At least I could find this... A Pope Francis bobblehead!

Oh, I love the Catholic kitsch! I was raised Catholic and, although I no longer practice, I have a soft spot in my heart for all the trappings. I want a bathtub Madonna for my yard but DH won't have it.
And yes, we need a Return of the Kitsch-Off thread!

Is it terrible that I want a BVM thumb drive? I'm in the market for one for school and I was sold with the glowing heart.

This was given to my dd this weekend by my FIL. We're no longer practicing Mormons (and I had to pull this out of the trash), but I think this is missing a value? Anyway, I remember these wooden hearts (each painted in the value color) from when I was growing up.

I would buy most every Catholic item here, LOL. I don't attend church other than weddings/funerals, etc but I still love all the kitsch. I also may or may not have a Virgin Mary and a St Francis statue in my yard...

I said **I** propose No, I caught that, I meant that they equate it to an Eagle Scout now? (They didn't do this when I was there but I know they were practically begging us to care about it) it seems it takes almost as many hours these days. They've added a 10 hour project for each value + an extra value, so that's 80 hours of the girl's time. (eagle project is 100 hours total work time by scout and all participants.) Remember girls can't count the hours others work on the project like the scouts can. So the extra value adds 10 more hours for the project plus the hours doing the other goals for the values. Of course, if you are a super YW you can do the honor bee value goals and projects after you've earned your medallion.

But to stay on topic, I wish so much I had a picture of my MIL's Jesus statue. She put it out in her yard near the corner of the property. Since she lived on a corner lot It freaked out a lot of drivers about dusk. They thought it was a real person at first. Sadly, Jesus was stolen. The incident inspired my husband and a friend to write one of their most popular songs: "Have you found Jesus."

And for those of you who may have been educated by nuns for either regular school or CCD, here she is....
NUNZILLA!
She bears a striking resemblance to my third grade CCD teacher Sister Cyprian
