Here's one for Back to School in the Fall - a 12 inch God's Rules Ruler. Even in the dark your child will still be able to measure things as this ruler glows in the dark!

And continuing in the spirit of Back to School, won't your child want to wear this special backpack to school every day:

I am trying to stick to the really *Catholic* things so that others can join the fun with more 'non-denominational' items. If you have a Catholic baby who cries like they are possessed... Baby's first medal! That's right - it's a diaper pin with a religious medal of Mary. I hear that it was a thing to have a Saints name medal on diaper pins too. If the baby won't sleep through the night... time to bring in the Guardian Angel crib medallion - with baby Rosary.

First Communion is generally in 2nd grade and can be a bit tought to find the right gift (religious but still interesting to a 2nd grader). Search no more! What second grader doesn't want this wall crucifix hanging in their room as a reminder that Christ died for their sins? Somehow the emaciated suffering Christ really doesn't fit with the rest of the 1st Communion imagery out there.

I bring you the SALT LAKE TEMPLE in LEGO. An odessey of building that took nine years and 35,000 bricks. He's not the only LDS guy crazy for LEGO temples. Just Google Lego and LDS temple.

I will see your LDS Temple and raise you a LEGO scale model Vatican City made with 60,000 bricks by students at a Catholic School. On a smaller scale... LEGO confessional - what do minifigs get for penance? Church interior... LEGO Notre Dame

This thread is too wonderful for words.
If only I could post a picture of the electric sacred heart statue that scared the hell out of me when I was a child. The heart pulsated and glowed when it was switched on. The stuff of nightmares.

I had that same crib medallion on my sons' crib when they were babies, and a rosary with big wooden beads. I still have the little medal I had pinned on my tee shirt as an infant, too!

Is your car not sufficiently filled with Catholic kitsch? Don't worry - there is plenty of car specific Catholic kitsch out there... Car visors clips! St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle (or traffic) Our Lady of Grace (help me remember to not drive like a jerk) Miraculous Medal visor clip (it would be a miracle if I get to work on time in this traffic) Madonna of the Highways (I didn't even know this was a thing) A twofer! Madonna of the Highways *and* St. Michael the Archangel Another twofer! Both the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary After looking at these I kind of feel like my car is really missing a visor clip.

Speaking of cars... Plastic car statues! The child Jesus says "WEEeeeeee" St. Jude is the patron Saint of lost causes... and perhaps lost cars? This pewter Blessed Infant of Prague seems like it would be really dangerous in an accident...

I don't think this is "kitsch" per se, but I'm not Catholic. A friend of ours from Buenos Aires was just at the Vatican and got blessings for us (and half of Argentina, I think). The paper says:
"His Holiness Francis cordially imparts the requested Apostolic Blessing to Tearisci and family invoking abundant divine grace."
I am not sure what it means but it's pretty cool! Maybe some Catholic can clue me in?

Maybe some Catholic can clue me in? Like this ? I would put that in the world of Catholic ephemera... not necessarily kitsch but very, very close to the line. I *think* that they are supposed to be for Catholics only and they tend to be something people get for special events (Weddings, confirmations, major anniversaries etc.). You can see some details about how to get one at the Vatican website here

That is it! I think our friend got blessings for everyone he knew. I was kind of honored to be considered being a non-Catholic. He's a very lapsed Catholic but proud that the Pope is from Argentina.

The Catholics have the Mormons beat cause there's like thousands of years of history there, so I'm adding some LDS weirdness/laughable stuff that isn't necessarily kitsch. Mormonads

Ok... those will need some explanations.... 5 cow wife? Saturday's Warrior? I'm a Catholic living in Utah (yes, we do exist here!) and I've heard of them but don't remember the details, other than I believe they are references to things found in the Book of Mormon. LDS refupeas will have to help me out here.
