No, we have all direct deposits so I rarely have cash on me unless I plan it out.

We do have $2000 in cash in 4 different $500 envelopes... its just for super emergencies... mainly if something happened to me n dh the children will be able to get a plane ticket for youngest and deal with immediates... only my ddil knows where they are... really shes the only 1 who knows about them...
If we need to use any of it for an immediate emergency then we replace it pretty quickly

Yup, got a stash. Then, I have a small stash of my own that DH doesn't know about. I had it in case a dear friend needed a quick escape route, no longer needed but I keep it aside just because I can.

We don’t have cash in the house, not even for emergencies, because if some disaster happens here that can take out the infrastructure , the whole Pacific Northwest is doomed.

almost none. i do have a couple change jars, but that's about it. so you internet thugs can come get me, but you're only going to get like $30 and you'll have to go a coinstar afterwards.

My piano students often pay me in cash. So I probably have about $1000 at any given time. I use it to give my teens cash for random school, band, food, etc things. Seems like it's always something with them! I rarely spend it myself. And I don't think DH knows where it is. Otherwise it would be gone. ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png)

I’m another person who lives in earthquake country so I do have a small stash. I remember that after the Northridge quake the ATMs weren’t working near the epicenter.

I have a little in the car, and a little at home.. should probably have more. we took apart a friends house after he died (he, his wife, his baby and his mom in a plane crash).. and the house was all torn up for construction. we carefully went through everything and found $4000 stuck way back in a closet. thankfully we were able to pass it on to his sister.. to help with the friend's other two kids... earthquake country....I am putting my water filter and short line and jacket back in the car.

My MIL would put money in a shoebox every paycheck (she was a cardiac charge RN and made $$$) She called it her "mad money". She stopped working and they moved. One day she was cleaning out the closet and found the box. It $12,000 in it and totally forgotten she had it! Lol
She went on a shopping spree. 😂

I used to but then I spent it all on a big purchase. It was my way of saving since I wouldn't see the money in my bank and be tempted by it. But, the whole time I had my envelope of money I was stressed out by the fact is lose it if my house caught fire. 😂

I'll put the cash there.

If we need to use any of it for an immediate emergency then we replace it pretty quickly my definition of 'emergency' might include things that other people wouldn't... like a sale at the craft store, or something like that, lol. Cash can be dangerous for me. eta: I don't think there's even any change in the sofa cushions... there's probably a few cents on the floor of my car, or in the cup holder, but that's about it.

I have a few hundred dollars stuck in a drawer but I pretty much never have cash in my wallet. Me too. I just checked, I have $2 in my wallet. That's it. I have a stash of a few hundred dollar bills for things that may come up that I need crazy money for. Jennifer

My mom saved up over $700 in change to buy herself a Sleep Number bed.. She finally took it in to get bills for it.. lol I suspect we've got at least a thousand in change from moms house. I took some of it to the bank to be exchanged, but the bulk of it is in a couple of piggy banks that are so heavy you can't move them. Before mom died this was the pool bar fund for our vacation, but once we started pulling pockets of change out of her house I just let that go. When I get spare bills, I throw them in the jar too. My kids have a habit of announcing they need cash as we're getting ready to leave for school at 6:30 in the morning so it's been convenient to just grab a buck from the change bank and go. Certainly no, we don't have thousands in cash in a safe or laying around. I can see why those of you who live in areas where natural disasters can occur would though.

How much depends on the day. I get cash out monthly for groceries, fun money for DH & I, and to save a little each month for non-monthly bills. I get paid in cash by one employer and don't always get it deposited. Some times I will keep a large amount in a hidden place so I have it on hand or if I'm saving for something (and don't feel like putting it in the savings account), but right now that stash is pretty small.

I rarely have cash on me. My DS on the other hand always has cash and I borrow from him. He delivers pizza and gets cash tips. He probably has about $500 around at any given time.
