Of all the things that have been said in the hearings today - this is the line that has stood out to me.

”‘It didn’t start with Mueller, it didn’t start with a phone call… it started with tears in Brooklyn’: Ranking member Collins says the #impeachment moves began against President Trump begin when Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election. Follow live here”
This is getting old and the only argument the Republicans have in defending trump because they can’t make the argument that he didn’t do anything wrong.

"Putting yourself above the law as president is the core of an impeachable offense."
I agree with him on this.

Back to Russian interference and Barr! (CNN) The forthcoming release of an internal Justice Department watchdog report on the FBI's Trump-Russia investigation won't be the last word on the matter, Attorney General William Barr has told conservative allies.Long a skeptic of the Russia probe, and particularly the FBI's tactics to investigate Trump campaign associates, Barr believes questions remain about some of the intelligence and other information the FBI used to pursue the investigation, according to people at the Justice Department and in Congress familiar with his thinking. ** Long before Horowitz's report was complete, Barr had already decided the inspector general's review wouldn't be enough to answer some of his concerns, some of which he has made public. In 2017, before he became attorney general, Barr told The New York Times that he thought the Justice Department had more reason to investigate Hillary Clinton and her family's foundation -- along with a conspiracy theory involving a Uranium mining company -- than it did to investigate Donald Trump. "I have long believed that the predicate for investigating the uranium deal, as well as the foundation, is far stronger than any basis for investigating so-called 'collusion,' " he told the Times. Even after initial internal briefings as attorney general earlier this year, Barr told other Justice officials he had information that bolstered some of his qualms about the department's handling of the Russia probe. It's not clear where he obtained that information. Barr is a voracious consumer of conservative media, including some organizations that have fed skepticism about Russian election interference and the activities of Trump campaign associates. (from me: So much for independent investigation by EXPERTS!) ** More at link: www.cnn.com/2019/12/03/politics/william-barr-inspector-general-report-fbi-russia-investigation/?iid=ob_lockedrail_topeditorial

”Just in time for the holidays: the Dept of Agriculture has finalized a process whereby 755,000 Americans will be removed from the federal food stamp program. Secretary Purdue says it's an effort towards "self sufficiency," and is the first step of many to cut food assistance.”
This one act by trump makes the case I have been saying for years. Republicans truly believe being poor is a choice. That people chose to be poor. That they aspire to be poor.
And we all know a chunk of the 755,000 people are kids.

”Political theatrics ensued from the outset as Republicans repeatedly tried to interrupt impeachment proceedings by raising objections and points of order. Prof. Karlan, called by the Democrats, told Republican Doug Collins she felt insulted by his remarks reut.rs/35WDIFI”
This is exactly why I don’t watch these hearings.

And we all know a chunk of the 755,000 people are kids. Probably the majority, half or more native born white! I had this discussion, including cuts to Medicare and Social Security(SS payments which helped pay to raise he and his brothers after the death of their father 10 years ago), with my dt supporting DGS. We also discussed THREE branches of government and 2nd Amendment. Did I waste my time, I don't know, but he was courteous, listened, asked reasonable questions, he thanked me for visiting, invited me to come back soon and kissed me goodbye at the airport last night.

I don’t think trump is having a good day. 1. MSNBC ”LIVE BLOG: House Judiciary Cmte. holds its 1st hearing today as the Trump impeachment inquiry moves into a new phase.” 2. The Independent.. ”Trump calls Trudeau 'two-faced', cancels press conference and leaves Nato summit early after video of world leaders laughing at him” I’m surprised the video of Trudeau, Boris Johnson, Princess Anne, & Macron laughing at trump didn’t find its way here. I would have brought it except I don’t know how. But yes, they are laughing at him. Well, it made Canadian news quickly.

This is amusing and all, but the situation concerns me. We all know how he is. If the NATO leaders made him feel foolish, he may come home and decide we’re leaving NATO completely. Can he do that on his own or does he need the approval of Congress? We could be totally f*cked here.

Can he do that on his own or does he need the approval of Congress? We could be totally f*cked here. I'm sorry. Though what they were discussing is how Trump seems to be late for important things. He really does seem to be on his own time. During our Federal Election this fall it was the Conservative Leader Scheer who did this. It started up right at the start. Trudeau did his news conference that the writ was dropped and everyone KNEW when it was going to happen. All the other important party leaders spoke afterwards. And then there was the well Scheer is not coming out right away to speak so we will air it when it happens. A few hours later I wasn't even watching the tv anymore because I had other things to do and figured if his people can't organize with everyone else, well forgot it. It happened a few other times. Then the must funniest thing happened. When it was declared that Trudeau won, speech times went weird. NDP party leader Singh went overtime. Scheer was actually on time and started speaking before Singh was done and Trudeau was then cutting off the broadcast of Scheer. I saw it as Karma. I do wonder if these cameras are allowed in that area, how do they decide which conversations to "leak" because I just find it creepy. In regards to Trump, he was probably wanting for an excuse to stump off anyway. He doesn't seem to play well with others.

Do his lap dogs not see the totality of his actions? Most of them will have no place in his dictatorship. If they do, he won't fire them, they will face the firing squads or dungeons!

And combine this with the threat of N Korea sending us a Christmas present....I am scared this is going to explode very quickly (no pun intended). Edited: a quick look says anyone who wants to leave Nato must first notify the US and there is a one year waiting period. Further glancing, I am see the US House of Reps in January 2019, to pass the NATO Support Act (H.R. 676), confirming Congress' support for NATO and prohibiting funds being used for withdrawing from NATO.

Vivian Salama - WSJ
“NEWS: The Trump administration is considering a significant expansion of the US military footprint in the MidEast, incl. dozens more ships, other military hardware and as many as 14,000 additional troops to counter Iran-US officials”
”WASHINGTON—The Trump administration is considering a significant expansion of the U.S. military footprint in the Middle East, including dozens more ships, other military hardware and as many as 14,000 additional troops to counter Iran, U.S. officials said.
The deployment could double the number of U.S. military personnel who have been sent to the region since the start of a troop buildup in May. President Trump is expected to make a decision on the new deployments as soon as this month, those officials said.
Mr. Trump, facing an election next year, has long sought to exit foreign entanglements and avoid new conflicts. But on Iran—and partly at the behest of Israel—he is convinced of the need to counter the threat his aides say Tehran poses, the officials said. He also could approve a smaller U.S. deployment, the officials said.”
That threat from Iran is one of trump’s making. And Netanyahu is determined to go after a Iran and drag in the United States. And with trump he has a willing stooge.

I'm so sick of the House GOP hiding behind the whole process BS. They also keep saying that the Democrats should start legislating - guess what? They have. All the bills are sitting on McConnell's desk and he refuses to bring them to the floor.
I also can't believe that the Democrats haven't harped on the fact that the WH hid the real transcript on some special serve and it hasn't been released. That's a cover-up. It's the cover-up that sunk Nixon. Seems like they should bring that up a little more.

If the Republicans are going to harp on our not legislating, then we need to come back every time with the number of bills that have been passed and are sitting on his desk, with the number that are currently being worked. Don’t even need to take more than 30 seconds. But every.single.time. Don’t let them get away with the lie. And yes, I want that question asked of everyone, why was it hidden if there was nothing worth hiding?
