I am so very sorry. My husband had squamous cell cancer. It is a mother f-ing bastard that doesn't care what it touches. My heart breaks right along with you. I remember when he was diagnosed and we all breathed a sigh of relief, because we had all heard that melanoma is the big baddie of skin cancer. We had no clue what was coming. Tucking you up in my safest thoughts while your dear husband fights and you take care of him. ❤

I’m so sorry. And he IS your dad. The dad of your heart. THANK YOU for saying this! He absolutely is the dad of my heart. I'm sobbing right now. And, I guess, yelling too.

I'm so sorry that you're losing such a wonderful person in your life. This hits close to home. I have CLL. I don't have any kind of skin cancer, but because with CLL there's a higher possibility of skin cancer, I have to go for an annual skin check. Please please go in for a skin check regularly. ❤

You guys so rock!I could not be luckier than having you all in my universe. Thank you so much for your kind words, they give me something to keep reminding me that we peas have each others back through thick or thin, through joy and pain, through humour, through love, through friendship! Thank you.
Yesterday after I posted, ds23 asked to go to the library, as it's his place to clear his head. While we were there, and he was sitting and looking at an old book of maps, his vision suddenly got twisty on him. He called me over and was sweating profusely. He told me that this had happened two weeks ago while on the trail during his father son mountain biking trip. No one told me.😣 He did said that this one felt way worse. I called the Dr. to see about getting him in, and they told me to take him to Emergency right away. So, off we went. Fortunately, we were only a mile or so away. Unfortunately, he threw up the whole way, and a lot of it in his car.
We spent 8 hours there 😳. They did loads of tests, and nothing came back amiss. They do want fasting blood work done though. Hind sight tells me the distraction was a good thing as we were focused on him and not the awful news we received earlier. We did talk a lot about my dad, as ds and my dad have a special bond. He was the first grandchild to be born after they got married, and my dad could not/can not get enough of my son. 😍
My dad just returned from his last Dr. appointment. He has been battling CLL and Squamous cell cancer since the start of Covid. The 2 cancers are egging each other on, but can't be treated together, so the Dr goes back and forth with treatment. Earlier this year the squamous started going crazy and metastasized into his lymph nodes. They did radiation to try to keep it at bay, but it didn't work, as today they said it is everywhere and got there fast. They have put him on hospice.
This is not my biological father, nor the stepdad that raised me, he is however the dad I always wished for. The second we met we both knew we had met someone special and formed a very quick bond. He has been married to my mom for 26 years. I love him so much. He is 91, so I did know this was likely in my near future, but I just don't feel ready for this. My mom just isn't going to know what to do with herself.
Holy crap this hurts.

I live in a city of about 130,000 people, about an hour from LA. Things are not locked up in any of the 3 Targets I go to. I was just visiting my sister outside of Portland, her little town had nearly everything locked up as did the Wal-Mart in the area. Seemed weird to me. I'm not sure I would bother to go if everything were locked up like that.

I was born in Gary, though we lived in the adjacent town of East Gary. We moved from there when I was about 3.5. My older sisters remember living there, but I have always thought I didn't have any real memory of it. Seeing the pictures of the City Methodist Church and the Palace Theater have brought memories forward. I just called my mom, and yes indeed I was baptized in that church at age 3 and I had been in the theater as well. I also had heard stories of the imaginary friend I had during that time, but I personally have very few memories of her. I now know, today, that Candy also went to the Palace Theater with me. 😁 And I will bet my bottom dollar that right near that theater there was a department store where patent leather shoes were purchased. I'm remembering getting in trouble for insisting that Candy needed yellow patent leather shoes. I can't wait to ask my sisters more about this. What a trip. I was baptized at City Methodist too. I grew up in Gary and lived there til I went to college. I shared in Indianapolis for mosy of the next 25+ years. Six years ago I moved back to the NW Indiana region. We live in Hobart now. But if we could have found a house in my old neighborhood we would have moved back in a heartbeat. Gary gets a bad rap. Just like Detroit, when you take the jobs out of a company town, what do you expect? We lived in Hobart for a short bit while our house in Portage was being built. We moved from there, when I was 9, to Oregon. As adults my parents and all 4 of my siblings moved back to Indiana, landing in Indianapolis and Peru.
