We had a nice wind chime many years ago that broke. Rather than trying to restring, DH tossed it which was unfortunate because looking back, it was made by a musician, was wonderfully tuned and good replacements aren’t cheap! Do you love or hate wind chimes?

I love them. We have a small, soft, quiet one hung on the patio outside my bedroom window, and I love to hear it when the breeze blows at night. I understand some people think it's rude to have one when you live in close proximity to others, but the ambient city noise definitely prevents anyone else from hearing this one. If I lived out on some open land, I'd have a larger and louder one.

I love them but I don’t have any. Our homes are so close together I am afraid it might annoy my neighbors. Maybe if one of my immediate neighbors got one first, then I would get one.

Neither. Don’t love them, don’t hate them. To me they just become A part of the ambient background noise of life. As a matter of fact, this morning I was out shoveling the walk and the wind was blowing like crazy and I could hear these wind chimes banging and clanging. I thought to myself, “Who would be nuts enough to leave their wind chimes hanging in the winter? Got around to the deck in the back, looked down and... They are OUR wind chimes. Whoops. In the chaos that was last fall, I guess they never got taken down!

Thank you for being so considerate. ❤️ They annoy me so badly and my sensory sensitive dd would constantly be pained by them.

It depends on the pitch. We’ve got a single bell chime with a deep pitch—more like a gong. The high pitched tinkly ones are annoying to me. We live far from our neighbors so that’s not an issue.

Dislike! It's not the noise they make, it's the fact that they make noise. I like to hear nature, and they interrupt natural sound.

Hate.
I can’t fathom how anyone would ever purposely choose to hang something that makes noise. Why? Why would you do that? Why do people like noise?
It’s like people who have actual clocks with hands. Dear god. Doesn’t it drive you to the brink of insanity? Can’t you hear it all.the.time.every.second.it.never.stops.why.would.you.do.that.to.yourself?

I am not a fan of wind chimes. I have had neighbors who have them and they just sound like fingernails on the chalkboard to me. If you have them where someone else can hear them, please know that lots of people do not like the sound.

Love them, I have one outside every window, so I can hear them no matter which room I'm in.

Depends, do you live in town? 😅 My grandmother had them on the farm and didn't bother me. I don't want to be forced to listen to someone else's when I'm at my home, though.

I agree that it depends on the pitch. We were given some with lower tones, and as they are heavy, they don't sound constantly. But when they do, it's subtle and quite pleasant.

Kind of bothersome, but yet I also like to hear them in the distance if that makes sense. I have a lovely chime set hanging down by our pond, about 50 yards from the house. That seems a nice distance that they're not overpowering and the add to the natural ambiance, not interfere.
We live on 76 acres, though, so we aren't bothering the neighbors
