Not so much hoarded but I wish we had organised a web cam for my parents. At a relatively early stage my brother searched everywhere for a camera and had no luck. It would have been an extra welcome addition to their lockdown if we could have all communicated visually. not a webcam but works well - Amazon Echo, and I beleive Facebook has a version too wellway, if they have a smartphone, you should be able to video chat through Facebook Messenger. I've used it for years, even when I've traveled to Europe.

I was finally able to get a gallon of bleach at walmart last week. We were down to an inch in our last bottle.

Clorox Wipes. I read they’ll be back in June and I’ll be out long before then.

By the time we knew what was what, stores here were completely out of wipes and sanitizer. Still are. I wish I had used them before the pandemic and had a stash set aside. Would have prevented a lot of unnecessary anxiety. Also, now that poultry is so difficult to come by, I wish I had stashed a few pounds in the freezer. So bizarre, because I’ve had zero issues finding any chicken here in Eastern WA. I found plenty at Trader Joe’s and at Albertsons. It was even on sale at Albertsons last week and I bought a big pack of breasts. They were very well stocked on all meats. Same as everyone else...can’t find cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer or Tylenol.

Diet Coke. A month ago, I stocked up on paper goods, cleaners, and toiletries. I've been building up my freezer and pantry ever since. And I get 3-5 dinner kits delivered every week. But I find that I am needing a grocery run more often than I would like because I run out of diet Coke. And I can't live without diet Coke. There is only so much you can put in your cart without looking like a freak/throwing your back out. Damn this addiction!! Another diet coke fan! I miss my McDonald's diet coke (70% diet, 30% regular coke)! I have been finding diet coke at our stores, and I also like Diet Cherry Pepsi. I'm drinking diet coke with some regular coke mixed right now.

Sanitizing wipes. I thought, “I prefer bleach solution anyway” as I pictured being home 24/7 and not needing to sanitize much because we wouldn’t be going out. What I didn’t consider is yes I’d still have to go places occasionally, and that bleach doesn’t work well in cars. Luckily I have some wipes, but not nearly enough, and they sell out in minutes when they come in stock.

Are your stores out of gin? Thankfully, our liquor aisles have still been well-stocked. Nah, we're just trying to limit trips and deliveries, so I feel obliged to drink the other liquor in the house before I get another bottle of gin.

Thing is, I’m not shopping in person so I’m (currently because at this point in time they are the easiest to get a time slot with) relying on what Amazon Fresh has in stock. Instacart is a joke here right now. Also (important to me) Fresh also earmarks the products when the order is placed - so what I order, I actually get. Hopefully I’ll have better luck next week!

I can get the huge bags but it’s more than I can store. I need ten pounds, max. Our Asian markets have 25+ lb bags but not smaller ones. Can't you just leave the bag out for now? I don't have any storage or pantry in my house, we use two cabinets for all of our food. Right now I have two large plastic bins holding our extra food because we don't really have the room to store it, but for now it's better than having to go out too often and then not getting what we need when we do go out. We don't have a lot of kitchen storage either, so our dining room now has clothes baskets full of food. One for canned soups, one rice, one pasta, etc. I finally got it organized so it's not too bad.

Bread flour, yeast and ordinary flour for baking. Oh and Cadbury cream eggs 😉 I agree with the flour and yeast, wish I’d bought more. This morning our whole estate woke up to see that the Easter bunny had left 2 Creme eggs on all our doorsteps! It’s a good feeling to know there are kind people around.

when this all began, I literally had Clorox wipes and clean-up spray in my basket at Costco. Dh said you’re crazy we have three containers of wipes and an extra gallon of clean up downstairs. We don’t need it! I’m so annoyed that I listened to him. I usually buy it when I go without him but he was with me that day. I always say, cleaning products don’t go bad. He also insisted we had enough tp which may have been true if things were normal but when dd and I are both home all day we need more tp then when we’re working or on campus. Fortunately I’ve been able to find some so not feeling panic there. Dh also goes through paper towels like crazy! Again I found some at Costco so that helps. Flour and sugar were hard to find but that is slowly coming back on the shelves. My biggest struggle is trying to keep our house and my parents house stocked. Especially when said parents don’t plan for what they are running out of but instead text in the morning to say they don’t have bread.🤦🏽♀️ Yes that happened today. That's so frustrating (having the wipes and cleaning spray in your cart). I bet he will listen to you next time! What is it about husbands and paper towels? Mine goes through a lot too! I got three big costco packs before this started. I bought one pack a week, and our costco had mountains of paper towels and toilet paper (I learned here to buy both before it got crazy). We still have lots left of both, but when we are down to 7 rolls of paper towels, I will get more. With 5 of us, we go through them fast. I am trying to conserve by putting a dish rag on top so family will use that first.

Do you have any Asian grocery stores near you? Like rice, Ramen noodles are something they tend to have plenty of (my dh and ds1 have decided to eat them daily for lunch), and in a variety of flavors not always found in regular grocery stores. My son is becoming a ramen gourmand. :-PSadly there’s not one in or around our tiny town. I don’t even think there’s one in the larger town we go to Costco in. I’ll have to check into that. Thanks! I’m sorry! They are a treasure trove in these days. Even in my town that has one of the largest Korean populations in the nation. I would have thought ours would be shopped out, but it hasn’t been. Would you like me to buy and mail you some? If I buy the flat square ones (not in a cup), I bet I can fit 12-18 in a medium flat rate shipping box.

Yeast is the only thing I haven’t found. Well, other than wipes. I had plenty when this started, and I only use them on the rare occasion when I leave the house, so they should stretch. I’ll be making my own wipes and my own Clorox & Vinegar cleaners if I run out - I have bleach, vinegar, oil, dish soap, etc.
If your local restaurants are allowed to do curb-side, check to see if any are selling household products or even common foods like rice, flour, or meats/chicken. While TP and disinfecting sprays are not readily available at the grocery store, there are several restaurants here running contactless order pickup for staples. Since restaurants aren’t doing inside business here, their suppliers have plenty of TP, paper towels, rice, chicken breasts, etc. They aren’t always brand name, but they do the job!!

Liquid bleach. I usually keep a couple of gallons on hand but I didn’t realize my cleaning lady ran through them already. I have lots of other cleaners that will kill 99.9% but I wish I had the Clorox too.

scrappinghappy , lindas , mich5481 , thank you for all your suggestions. My parents tend to use tech at the bare minimum, I send my Dad a link to something and I'll get a call, that didn't work, did you double click? Hang on, let me try,...these calls can be long! Dad uses Word to its full effect though, he's written a number of books. It would be really hard to talk them through setting up an app on their phone and it would be helpful if the mobile was turned on from time to time! No social media, the computer doesn't have a webcam... Sigh, asap we will organise a camera it will just take a bit longer than we would like.

Regular all-purpose flour and toilet paper. I thought I had enough toilet paper but hadn't figured out the needs for 4 people at home all the time. And while i did think to get bread flour, I didn't think about all-purpose for making some stuff like cookies. But really, that's all I'm missing.

You are so incredibly generous. Please don’t go through the trouble though. Stay home and stay safe. My kiddos (and me) will be ok for another few months without ramen. Seriously, thank you so much for offering! 🥰🥰

What I didn’t consider is yes I’d still have to go places occasionally, and that bleach doesn’t work well in cars. Luckily I have some wipes, but not nearly enough, and they sell out in minutes when they come in stock. This was exactly my thought! I've resorted to the alcohol based glasses wipes I have on hand. I learned after buying a Costco box of them that they weren't actually good for the coatings on my glasses! So I stuff my pocket full on my way out the door each week. I've also put the 70% alcohol I've been able to buy in a baggie with a stamp shammy knock off cloth. I use that to wipe down surfaces in my car when I'm out and about. It wreaks havoc on my already dry hands though. Last night I tried searching the web for a place to order those coreless rolls of toilet paper that are often found in public restrooms but those seem to be sold out too. Sheesh!

I wish I had loaded up more on paper towels (I have little left, but am making the best of it... I do have napkins and I've been using microfiber cloths for cleaning) and Lysol wipes (still have some, but I sanitize so much, I am going through them fast). I also wish I had gotten more flour because that is now impossible to find! For anyone looking for yeast, I was able to snag some here earlier today (I have zero affiliation with this company)... it's a one pound bag, not the little packets and shipping was $8, but I needed yeast, sooooo... www.wafflepantry.com/lesaffre-saf-instant-yeast-red-label.html?fbclid=IwAR0WoWeya5U4BWa1a-8U_498rc9sNWyaek1AxatshX311nZSeTi7b7Bt6GU

I never used Clorox wipes to begin with, so not having them around isn't something I miss. I have plenty of 70% ispopropyl alcohol that I keep in spray bottles to disinfect the surfaces (doorknobs, inside car, shopping carts, etc.) I've never used Lysol either. I have enough cleaning supplies... dish soap, hand soap, dishwasher, laundry detergent, toilet bowl cleaner. I wipe down the showers and sinks with vinegar. I spray the sinks and faucets with alcohol several times a day.
I've managed to find everything I really need... my stores have been stocked with rice, pasta, meat, baking supplies (except for flour and yeast). I've even found all the paper products we need. I ordered some extra flour and yeast from King Arthur last week, so by the time my stash runs out I should be resupplied. I have 5 puzzles waiting to be put together.
I head to the grocery store once a week (that's how long the fresh fruit and produce lasts.) I pick up for my family and my mom. I've gone to Costco about every two weeks or so -- getting meat, lots of the bread that we like, and liquor.
The thing I miss the most is visiting with my mom. Her senior living community is completely locked down. We talk every day, but I miss meeting her for lunch.

Some of the local restaurants are selling grocery boxes that usually include chicken. I know a few in the northend but I’ll bet there are some in Seattle (DM me if you want their info) John Howie has one with chicken, but obviously there’s a lot of red meat in their box, which I’ll bet is delicious! I ended up ordering from a co-op butcher in eastern WA that shipped overnight with dry ice.

The only thing I want and cannot get is rice 🤷♀️ Do you have an Asian grocery store near you? I found a normal size bag there a week or so ago... 5 pounds? 10 pounds? no more than that. eta: Never mind, I read the rest of the thread and discovered that others recommended the same thing.

Toilet paper. 8 People live here and we are still unable to get any except small packs here and there. I thought we were well stocked! At the beginning of this we had one large club store pack unopened and a partial, so I didn't panic, but now we are struggling. One day we were all sharing one roll in our three bathrooms. My adult daughter brought some and left it on the porch to get us through, now we attempt to buy it whenever we have grocery delivery, usually a 4 pack at a time. Eggs, again, hard to find more than a dozen and that is less than one days worth if everyone wants eggs for breakfast. Me and my husband are doing Keto and were using a lot of eggs before this mess. We finally got decent garlic yesterday! My son got it at work as soon as they restocked. (grocery)

Toilet paper for sure. I have not found any yet. I have a bit left but I need to find some. But no matter where I go and when, there isn't any. I feel like it should be restocked by now.
That is the only thing I have needed and can't find, at least right now.

I don't wish that I had *hoarded* these things, but just that I'd bought a few more of them: Hand sanitizer -- I bought two at Target right when this whole thing was starting. I should have bought ten at least, then I could have given some to my mother in assisted living, and two of my neighbors who have more reason than I do to need it. Clorox/Lysol wipes, of course. I had a couple tubs left because I took it every day to school, and I did buy a 5-pack at Costco around the time I bought the hand sanitizer at Target. Should have bought several more 5-packs. Face masks, the regular blue ones that we use sometimes when doing yard work in pollen season, or cleaning out the basement cupboard when a mouse has been in it. Sugar. Who knew? Pesto sauce. Again, who knew? I have been able to find toilet paper every once in awhile, once at my grocery store, and a couple of times at Costco. Every time I'm at Costco and see it I buy one of the mega packs, and I don't care that I don't really need it. I'm keeping my mother supplied also, and she absolutely needs it because I don't trust her not to flush something else... my dh and I could use napkins, paper towels, etc. and we'd remember not to flush, so I could give her our TP if we had to.
