Diet Coke. A month ago, I stocked up on paper goods, cleaners, and toiletries. I've been building up my freezer and pantry ever since. And I get 3-5 dinner kits delivered every week. But I find that I am needing a grocery run more often than I would like because I run out of diet Coke. And I can't live without diet Coke. There is only so much you can put in your cart without looking like a freak/throwing your back out. Damn this addiction!! Me too! I'm down to 4 rolls of tp - but if I run out of diet coke - COVID19 be damned - I've got to go to the store ASAP! I'm not proud - I bought 8 2-liters the last time. I would have bought more but thats all they had at the time. Cindy If you hadn’t thought of this.....we added a bunch of 2 liter sodas to our pizza delivery the other day. They cost a bit more than the grocery but it was nice to have them delivered and it was only a 30 min wait!

I wish I would have stocked up on yeast. It's about the only thing I can't get at my grocery store now. Check King Arthur Flour's website. That is where mine is coming from, along with some bread flour

I wish I would have stocked up on yeast. It's about the only thing I can't get at my grocery store now. Me too. Actually, I discarded jar of yeast that had about 1/4 of it left because it was so out of date. I never dreamed that I would not be able to buy yeast☹️. DH will make bread for us when we finally find yeast to buy.

Meats. We have a small freezer and now I know we’re gonna have to find somewhere in this tiny place to put a deep freezer.

I wish I had gotten a pack of paper towels when they had them at Costco the last time I was there! March 2nd! That’s the morning I decided I better get a few things because of this virus they keep saying is coming.....just in case. But no I didn’t grab a pack because I had half a package already at home. I thought I had plenty. I only grabbed one package of TP and i didn’t even need that either., I was thinking....hmm just in case.
I have requested paper towels with every grocery delivery and only got a six pack once and they were wet and moldy!!! Ugh!
I also wish I had Clorox wipes. I had a three pack in my hand before thing got crazy but I put it back because I knew I had a brand new three pack that I had just opened. I thought I had plenty. Well I gave one to my son to take home and the other two packs are really low....guess I’ll be making a homemade spray once those are gone. And I guess I’ll have to cut up some old towels to use with the spray?? Cause I don’t have paper towels!!

Meats. We have a small freezer and now I know we’re gonna have to find somewhere in this tiny place to put a deep freezer. I had that thought the first couple weeks when the meat cases were empty and then rationed. I was trying to buy 2 weeks worth of groceries and was limited to one package of chicken. Thankfully we're pretty much back to normal. FYI, deep freezers are about 3 months out around here.

I don’t have the ingredients for fudge lol I do the easy one. Can of sweetened condensed milk, 12 oz bag of semi sweet chocolate bits melted together in the microwave, mix in a dash of vanilla, stirred until almost too thick and poured/pushed into a lined pan, plate, whatever, cool and eat!

Clorox wipes. I went on vacation for a week before the shit hit the fan. I have an almost full container on my desk at work. I had an opportunity to go into the building to get my computer/monitor etc before they shut it down totally and did not. I kind of wish I had! Not only am I tired of working on my small laptop, I would really like those Clorox wipes!

I swear none of these people that will not give me any space in this house and leave me alone, want to deal with me if I run out. It’s crazy how much I’ve consumed in the past couple weeks which just makes it harder to give up. I get it.

This whole ordeal has made me really appreciate my own buying habits. I keep a well-stocked freezer and pantry and I always have backups of my backups. It's not a hoard by any means, but if I don't have at least two of anything it makes me edgy. Canned goods and mixes I have several more of.
I'm a little stressed that I had to open up my backup eyebrow pencil and don't have another one on hand. In fact, I better place an Ulta order before this one is gone, so thanks for the reminder!

For those that can’t find TP — have you checked your Walgreens/CVS/big drugstore? I have always found that they are way better stocked than the grocery stores, Costco, or Target, likely because people are just trying to make one trip. We bought a couple packages with at least 12-18 rolls in them recently — so they aren’t tiny packages, but they won’t be Costco packs either.

Thanks for posting this Elaine. I have ordered and received dried lentils, big bags of rice and pasta from Amazon, along with some other items. Have not stepped foot in a grocery store since March 14 when I was stocking up for a 98 yo friend and a very pregnant single woman. I do miss salads but am making do with the huge stash of raw carrots and frozen veg as of a week ago.

If anyone is desperate for paper towels, check in the hardware section of Walmart or a hardware store, maybe even an auto parts store. There is usually a decent supply of the blue Scott's handyman paper towels. They are a little thicker, but will do in a pinch.

Brown rice. No one here has the brand I use. I have to hit the other grocery store today so I'm going to ask them if they think it'll be stocked soon. Otherwise, I'll find it online (hopefully). I'm def. not being brand specific when I order on Amazon if my favorite brand is unavailable.

By the time we knew what was what, stores here were completely out of wipes and sanitizer. Still are. I wish I had used them before the pandemic and had a stash set aside. Would have prevented a lot of unnecessary anxiety. Also, now that poultry is so difficult to come by, I wish I had stashed a few pounds in the freezer. So bizarre, because I’ve had zero issues finding any chicken here in Eastern WA. I found plenty at Trader Joe’s and at Albertsons. It was even on sale at Albertsons last week and I bought a big pack of breasts. They were very well stocked on all meats. Same as everyone else...can’t find cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer or Tylenol. Amazon has tylenol

Because why not?

We have had no problem finding any food products (except yeast), I did see someone with Clorox wipes in their buggy, but there where no more. I have 3 stores I rotate through for us and my Mother. If one doesn't have beef or chicken I need, one of the other stores will. Lysol spray is elusive though. WE have gotten some at work, but cannot keep it in stock in our warehouse. Do you have any office supply stores like Office Max, Staples, Office Depot? They might stock Lysol and other similar products and it’s not a place most people would think to check.

I’ve been checking them and Costco almost every morning and none have been in stock to ship now. FWIW, many times when Amazon says something will arrive 3-4 weeks from now, it arrives much earlier. If it is something you really want, it doesn’t hurt to place an order on Amazon and then if you happen to find it someplace before it ships, you can always easily cancel it.

If anyone in my area gets desperate, I’m well stocked on TP and you are welcomed to a 12 pack. I subscribe and save every 4 months because the kind I use can be tricky to find. Plus it’s just easier. I added an extra delivery at the beginning of March when this all hit, and it looks like my normal April order is on its way too. I’ll be flush 😁🙄😁
Also, I was in my local (regular neighborhood sized) drugstore on Tuesday afternoon to pick up a prescription and noticed that they had a mountain of MD brand. So maybe try smaller places?

I found toilet paper late afternoon this week. Not my preferred brand, but at this time a body can't be choosy.

For those out of Clorox wipes, you can make a solution of 1/3 cup bleach to a gallon of water to make a spray that will be effective against the Covid-19 virus.
I have always used the Clorox wipes and fortunately had just picked up a couple of 3-packs before we learned ofd-19 virus. I use it to clean all surfaces and to wipe down the sides of all the cat boxes between full cleanings because “somebody” is too lazy to squat to pee and hits the sides of the litter box.
I am going to be making up a batch of the bleach cleaner to start using it in my shower and on countertops with pieces of cut up old white t-shirts. I can launder these with my normal bleach whites instead of using my precious supply of paper towels - otherwise known in my house as napkins.😄😉

We use it for big messes (like the dog or a spill). Costco sells a big package of it.

I'm very, very grateful that DH and I got out and purchased a big deep freeze in February. DS needed a new mattress, and the "Mart" sold both so we just threw that in while we were at it. Has truly saved my bacon since all this has gone down. I had started filling it with meat that I had cut down from bigger cuts as I randomly went to Sams club, so once the hoarding started I knew we were ok on protein.
Leading up to the lockdowns, we had stuff going on every night so I hadn't had a chance to shop hardly at all. I don't think I"ll ever forget going to Costco to pick up some stuff since we'll be stuck at home for 2 weeks and not being able to find ANYTHING. no meat of any kind, freezer sections totally decimated. No TP, clorox, hand soap and laundry soap. It was frightening. I kept thinking ok, I know we have beef and pork in the freezer, we just need chicken. Hit sams club the next day and felt like I had struck gold when I found TP AND Chicken there.

I wish I had Lysol spray and more Clorox wipes. I have disinfecting spray so that’s ok but I could really use Lysol spray.
