Neither DH or I have any tattoos. Our 19 year old got his first one a few months ago (it’s actually 2 in one) and is getting another one this week. They are large and not what I would have picked out, but it is his body and he is paying for them. I have been supportive and asked what he was getting each time. I’m still getting used to seeing him with them. I’m not against tattoos at all.

Both of my sons and my DIL have tattoos. I dislike them, I can’t think of a thing I would want tattooed on my body forever. My youngest only has one and I’ve heard nothing about him getting another, my oldest son has 5 or 6 and is talking about getting full sleeves done. The DIL has 12-15 of them and wants more but she’s running out of space. The boys’ didn’t bother me initially because I couldn’t see them. Now my oldest one has two on his arms and I hate seeing them.

No one in my immediate family has tattoos. As far as I know, no one has ever seriously thought of getting one. It’s something we’ve never really discussed or thought much about.

I do not have one, and unless they’re hiding it from me my daughters don’t have one. Yet.
My 20 y/o has expressed an interest in getting one, so I’m sure it will happen eventually. I actually know exactly what I would get and where I would put it, so maybe I’ll get one too someday.
My mother-in-law goes into histrionics whenever the subject of tattoos comes up. I admit it makes them even more enticing.

I have two. DH has none. DS is only 14 so not yet. He doesn’t strike me as the tattoo type but who knows.

I do not have any. When my kids were little I was completely against them. I have now mellowed and would get one if I ever found one that was meaningful and I really liked. My dd has the symbols for I am greater than my highs and lows on her ribcage, hockey skate laces on her ankle, and T1 Diabetic with the Medical symbol on her wrist. DH and ds have none.

I don't have any, and neither does my dh. And I cannot imagine ever getting one. My dd has five or six. She wanted one when she was still in high school and I told her I wasn't giving permission so she had to wait till she was 18. She did. One of her college roommates had to hide hers from her mother because her mom actually told the daughter that she'd cut off her college money if she ever got a tattoo. Seems a bit extreme to me. I don't like them for me, but it doesn't seem like something to base tuition on! -- My dd's are pretty nice and all could be covered up if she had to for a job. My ds has zero tattoos, and he's engaged to a woman with a full sleeve plus other tattoos. Personally I don't like how the sleeve looks, but it's not my body so...

I don't care for them, but I realize I'm in the minority. No kids, but my nieces and nephews, ages 17-25, don't seem super into them, which surprises me.

I have 2 tattoos and am finalizing a design for my 3rd. My DS (22) and DD (19) do not have any, and neither does DH. My DD is on the spectrum and has sensory issues, so I don’t expect she will ever get one. DH has never been interested. I don’t think DS is interested either but you never know.

None on me or dh; only one of our 4 dds has one: on her arm. I'm not madly in love with tattoos, but I'm not dead set against them either. It's their body, their skin.

Dd1 and I ended up getting our first (and only) tattoos on the same month. Although she was in New Zealand when got hers done. I can’t remember how old I was - about 46-47 I think. I decided by that age if I didn’t like it I wouldn’t have it as long. 😂 I love it, though. I will get another one sometime in honor of my dd2 when I’ve fully decided what it should be. I’m in no rush. Dd3 and dh do not have tattoos.

No, I don't care for them. Lots of reasons why. I just asked my kids to wait until they were 18 to get them and think if it was really something they wanted on their bodies forever. One kiddo got one at 18 and the other got one at 26.

I have one that I got when I was 19, and I have plans for two more. There is a specific tattoo artist in Illinois that I want for one of the designs, so I will need to travel to get it - I'm in California.

None for me or DSO, oldest DD dies t have any yet and youngest DD got her first last year at 20. It’s easily covered by most clothing.
I’m not a fan of them but can appreciate them on others.

I plan to get a very simple one that is just an outline of a shaggy dog with a small red heart on it.
DS has one on his chest which cracks me up every time I see it. It’s a small row of gravestones with a skeleton reaching out his hand as he emerges from one of them, and underneath it says “Pleease may I pet your dog?”

I have one that I got t 43. DH and DS do not have any. We are a military family, so I fully expected DS to get one when he was in the Army. He surprised me by not.
My mom had two tattoos. One on her butt and one on her forearm. She had the one on her forearm removed in the 80s when we moved from California to North Carolina. It was not acceptable then for a woman in a professional job to have a visible tattoo.
I'm of the do with your body what you want school. I am sort of glad I waited until I was older. Young people do make some questionable tattoos choices based on trends/peer pressure. At least I got what I wanted and not wat I thought would be cool at the moment.

none of us do. DS31 had talked about getting one in the past (preNavy) but hasn't actually done so. He probably will eventually. I haven't heard DD22's opinions one way or the other. DD16 told me the other night she wants a dragon sleeve....I suggested that once she's old enough she start with something small and see how she likes it ... the girls both have sensory issues so I don't think tattoos are going to be their thing due to that.
I have no desire for one and I don't think DH does either - I think if it had been something he was into, he would have gotten a tattoo while he was in the Army or right afterwards.

Neither me or DH have tattoos. I have seen some that I like but I don’t think I will ever get one. Neither of my DD’s or my SIL have any and I can’t picture any of them getting one either.

I do. I got my first one when I was 19 and active Mormon in Utah, so I was very much a rarity. I was the only tattooed one in both my family d my husband’s (close to 100 people!) for 20 years. In the last 5 or so years I’ve had a couple of siblings and a few nieces and nephews get them, as well as my two adult children. I know my 17yo will when she’s an adult, but I don’t know about my youngest… at not quite 15 he hasn’t said either way.
DH is tattoo-free. He’s not opposed to them, but they are expensive and not a priority for him.

Nope and my two young adult dd's don't have tattoo's either ... they do have nose piercings though ... You know what is surprising? My mum got her first tattoo at age 70! (Five years ago) ... it is my name and my dd's names with a heart ... she just had always wanted one!

Nobody in my family has tattoos. DS's GF does. I couldn't care less what other people want to do to their bodies--I just don't find them particularly attractive. I'm into ear piercings.

I have three right now. One I've had for over 30 years, the other 2 are memorial tattoos I've had done since my DH passed in February. My largest one is about the size of a silver dollar. DD20 has probably 10. She is a tattooing apprentice and has done most of hers herself, as well as the 2 memorial tats I have. DS24 doesn't have any but wants a memorial one for his dad; he just can't commit to a design yet.

I have 10. DH has 2. Kids have none so far. Ex has 1. I don't think one kid has any desire to get one. The other, maybe.
My mom got one at 65! She hated mine until I got a cancer awareness ribbon. I think she still hated most of mine despite them all being tasteful. I'm trying to get an appointment set up for #11 and have been following another artist for another I want.

DH doesn't and will never. He hates them.
I have skin issues so won't risk triggering a flare, but otherwise would probably get one.
DD(25) has 4 large tattoos (each bicep and thigh) and will likely get more. I was only surprised she wait until she was 20 before getting the first one. Her first is my favorite.
DS(24) has zero interest in getting one.

I don’t, ex doesn’t, my mom and sister both do. I acquiesced and signed consent for my dd to get one for her 17th birthday. A lovely homage to her beloved kitty.
Then she went through some things in college and acquired a tattoo gun and gave herself several tattoos. A couple aren’t bad, one is terrible. Now she’s 18 and she’s gotten several more on the same left arm (she calls it her F it arm). One is lovely, several are ok and several are cringe to me. She just got a tattoo on her back that’s nice, but I wish she’d slow down.
Her body, her choice. But she keeps telling me she’s an adult and can afford them. Sooo she’s no longer riding the mom and dad insurance/cell phone gravy train next semester since she has tons of money to burn apparently. 🤷♀️
I could maybe see myself getting a meaningful one someday but not anytime soon (vs the dancing skeleton dd got because “it was Halloween and on sale”).
