I’m so sorry. I hope she returns soon. There are lots of good tips posted.
Years ago my cat went missing and was gone for 4 or 5 days. We put a sign up on our super mailbox and got calls right away that he had been seen. I was driving down the alley late one night and saw two glowing eyes between the houses. It was my big boy! Just want to give you some encouragement. He was only a block away and had been hanging out very close to home the entire time. Sending positive thoughts.

Sending good thoughts for your precious cat. I bet she is close by. Walk around with a flashlight in the evening seems like a good idea to me. I hope you can feel all the support and love we are sending you.

I also wanted to add some encouragement. Several years ago we had an indoor cat who got out and ran. We searched and searched but couldn't find her. It was probably 4 days later I thought I heard something at the rear of the yard and I just stood back there and called and called. She found her way home! Done give up!

I advised a friend about a cat missing up the street from her a few months ago. She found it in her garage and returned the cat to it’s owner

Still have my fingers crossed for you, wallyagain. Is there anywhere in your neighbourhood that she could have gone into? On the farm, cats often get shut into sheds when they slip in unseen and then someone closes the door and walks away. Maybe ask your neighbours to check any outbuildings they may have had open yesterday. If she is not cuddly, is she a talker? I have found cats several times by walking around the property and calling. They will often answer if they are too scared to come to you. Are there any homes/garages under construction in your area? Ddil's cat spent several days in a half constructed home while the crew took the weekend off. Again, she wandered in when the place was wide open and then could not come out after they left and closed all the doors.

I once drove away with my cat sitting on my minivan. Luckily, a fire engine stopped me to let me know before I got too far. But my cat still got spooked, jumped off the car and ran into a backyard. I searched for days, put up signs, and all that. I thought for sure she was gone. Seven days later she was meowing in my backyard. It felt like such a miracle. I hope your cat reunites with you.

I have two missing cat stories. Our 5yr old cat Badcat disappeared one day- we live in a cul-de-sac right at the end and our cats slept in a cat run at night in our back yard but sometimes went out into our front yard. We looked everywhere but no luck. 7 days later I arrived home to see him lying by our front door. I immediately realized he was injured and raced him to vets in a blanket. His back leg was damaged and the vet asked if we cared if our cat had 3 legs. His leg was amputated and he went on to live till he was 14. We never did find out where he was or what happened- we think he may have been trapped in a shed so maybe ask your neighbors to check. Another cat Jake (15 yrs old) disappeared and we couldn't find him anywhere. We were camping in the outback ( Australia) and I had a really weird dream that he had arrived home- he had been gone for 10 days. We returned home and that evening and my daughter said "you forgot to lock one of the cats in the cage, there's one by the car"' To our surprise it was Jake meowing but not dehydrated or injured. To this day we have no idea where he was! So there is always hope- they are mysterious creatures at times. I hope your furry friend finds his way home to you soon.

ooh, I hope you find her soon!! If they've never been separated from each other and her brother is distressed, maybe you could use that to help find her? Put him in a carrier and either walk through the neighborhood with him, or drive slowly in the car, window(s) down, with him? If he's yowling / upset in the carrier perhaps she will hear him, recognize his voice, and come out, if she's hiding within earshot.

Cats usually stay close. They are great at hiding. Do what others have suggested and I bet he shows up!

DH took Cagney in the cat stroller yesterday and they walked all around the neighborhood several times.
We will just keep walking the neighborhood, hoping she comes home. My poor little punk.
Our cats are strange little creatures that when DH is home, they are with us and interacting the whole time, in everything we do. Slightly less so when I am here by myself, as I work from home and I am just furniture. To say we miss her is an understatement.
Thanks for the positive thoughts. The not knowing is the worst.

I'm so sorry and worried for you! My indoor cat gets "skycrushing syndrome" when he goes out... he dashes out and suddenly realizes the sky is falling on him so seeks refuge in the nearest shed or under a porch/covered bbq etc and will not move. Have you checked under and in all nearby sheds and porches and cars? Poor kitty

Well, someone must have her and are trying to cover their tracks. All of the posters DH put up yesterday are gone, every single one.
We are just sick.

We have called everywhere we can think to call. Next will be vets offices, but they are closed today, it’s a holiday here for a lot of places.
No city worker is taking down posters on a weekend, you’d have to know where we live, that didn’t happen. They don’t enforce serious bylaws.
We are going to try offering a reward.

Maybe place some at doors of area you last saw her and describe cat you saw. Maybe a neighbor will know who it is and call you.

Don't call as you walk. Call, stand and wait for a few minutes and then move on. She will be scared to come out and if you keep walking away she is not likely to follow. Use a flashlight under bushes and look for reflective eyes.

Hopefully the cat will soon return.
Side story: Years ago we had a dog that hated cats. One morning my husband said he had seen a cat in our bedroom. I assured him that no cat was in the house because the dog would have barked and raised a fuss. A few days passed and as we were eating dinner, a cat ran from behind the sofa to the stairs! We found the cat, and eventually got it herded out of the house.
We still have no idea why the dog accepted its presence in the house. It was using the ashes in the fireplace for a litter box. DH was leaving the back door cracked open so the dog could move at will.
A few months later at a neighborhood gathering, we learned who owned the cat. It had been missing about 5 days per owners.

Is she a special breed that someone would pick her up and take her in?

Is she a special breed that someone would pick her up and take her in? She’s technically a mutt, but she looks like a tiny ragdoll. She’s ridiculously cute and so, so soft.

Does her bother do well on a leash? Is so maybe she would respond well to him if you took him around the neighborhood.
If someone does have her and is trying to cover their tracks, maybe you can set a trap? Put up posters near friends/neighbors that have security cameras. Maybe you can catch them in the act.

Still no news. We have spread the word far and wide, vet clinics, pet stores, so many pet boards on facebook, our neighborhood board, rescues, local SPCA. DH put the posters back up yesterday and they are gone again today.
I guess we are very co-dependant on our cats, as we are all a big mess, not sleeping worth crap and I am barely eating. We are really struggling to start to move on.

wallyagain I am so sorry your beloved kitty is missing. A friend of mine had a cat escape and was missing for quite a while, but my friend was finally able to trap her using a can of stinky wet food and a humane animal trap. Obviously, she didn't want to hurt her cat, just bring her back home! Have you considered a trap? I know it sounds extreme and I'm not trying to upset anyone on this board by suggesting it, but it worked for my friend. I think her cat was missing for close to two months but after the trap was placed, she was caught in a few days. I hope she comes home to you, soon. xoxo

We have a trap but we can’t watch it all the time, so we’ve been bringing it in.
There is so much conflicting advice out there, litter box, no litter box, and on and on.
Thanks for the positive thoughts. It is very helpful.
