Checking in and devastated for you that she hasn't returned I'm going to reference her to "the cat came back" as a standard of our childhood and suggest she follow the instructions...

Apparently she didn’t do her homework.
We caught a neighborhood cat in the trap last night. Next time, it’s going to the SPCA.
I know we will get through this, but right now, it’s still a nightmare.

I’m so sorry. I have faith. Our neighbors are always having their cats go missing and eventually they’ve come back. I’m hoping we’ll hear a good update soon!

We got a call yesterday, someone had seen her. DH went and looked and looked for hours last night. Can of food, her food dish to clink. We are so torn as it was little kids that said they saw her and you hate not to look, but did they really see her?
Our other cat is so sad, it’s awful. Any ideas how to help him besides a ton of love?

Hugs, wallyagain. Any chance that someone took her in, and maybe one of their kids has been taking down the posters so they don't have to give her back? No advice about the remaining kitty. Just lots of attention until he can relax into the routine.

I was hoping for a good news update. I am not losing hope you will find her. Let the kids know you would give them a reward if they can catch her or one can come get you to catch her. I have a feeling one of those kids has your kitty. A reward would entice them to give her up. I do think whoever has her is taking down the posters. You don't live in an HOA neighborhood, you don't live an area where anybody cares if you put up signs. Why would anyone bother taking down signs if they didn't have her? I agree with you.
The only other reason I could see anybody taking down signs is a curmudgeon who thinks those poles are on their property. I take down signs too. The pole is technically on my property. It is garage sale signs that are three months old or lost pet signs I know the owner found the pet. I do it to keep the pole uncluttered so recent signs won't be hidden.
Do you live near any restaurants or convenience stores? Animals in my neighborhood that get lost usually hang out there for free food. If you have the "cat lady" that feeds all the cats in the neighborhood let her know. Cats love cat ladies. There is always food, blankets, baskets, toys. Family member is a cat lady. She always has lost cats come to her.
I am a rescuer. It would not hurt to ask around in the neighborhood who the local pet rescue are. They might have picked up your cat and took it to foster or shelter if your shelter is accepting right now. Did you call animal control?
I know you are stressed and grieving. I am giving out as many ideas I can think of. I know when I lost my cat I was grateful for all the ideas. Mine did have a happy ending. He was right next door hiding in a cubby scared. I had to think outside the box to find him.
I remember another one. Check the city water gutters on your street. Cats are hiding in there all the time.

Tell the kids that there is a reward for her return. Make it as much as you are comfortable giving. Or, and, pay them to help you look. This should move things along. I, too, keep checking this thread for good news. I am hopeful that she will be found.

Thanks for all the advice and positive thoughts. I am reading all of them. I so appreciate this community
Forgive me if I don’t acknowledge each one, we are still distraught and exhausted. My DH is scaring me, he’s so gutted.

My parents' got out 2 summers ago and she was gone for 2 weeks. Don't give up hope! It was like she had gone on a vacation or something. She was totally in the neighborhood...just didn't want to come back in! We eventually got a "trail cam" which was actually a borrowed pet cam from inside someone's house! It allowed us to see what her movements were around the house and that kinda helped target the time to try and get her back inside. It was exhausting but it did work!

Please don't give up. Mine was missing for a month, 1000 miles from home and we got her back. I'm still praying for her safe return. I wish you didn't have to go through this!

There was a sighting on Sunday and we have been working with someone in that neighborhood, as it is several blocks from here.
But still nothing. Each of these sightings is good but so bad when we can’t find her.
Our other cat is really, really struggling. It’s so sad.
My work team has been amazing.

Well damn. I saw you were the last post and was hoping it was good news. I am glad there have been sightings not too far from home and hope she’s back with you and Cagney soon!

People on the street where she had been seen were watching for her on their security camera and watching the trap. DH picked it up after work and brought it home. He wasn’t sure he wanted to put it back out but these very kind people said they were happy to watch the trap. So we ate, watched a bit of TV, DH fell asleep for a while. Then he thought he’d put a different blanket and some fresh food and take the trap back. It’s several blocks away. He set it up then drove around the block, through the alley and back to this house. And there she was, heading to the trap. She went in and it finally snapped shut. 8:25 pm, DH phoned me that he had her.
Thank you all for your support and encouragement. It helped so much.
She’s skinny and a little dirty but not bad. She ate and drank and curled up on her spot. Although she did think she wanted out onto the deck. Um, no, she is on house arrest for a bit. I’ll phone the vet and get her checked out asap. We just sat there watching her for a long while, she does not like to be held.
She’s home and our world can go back to normal. That was the longest 10 days of my life.

He just wants to check her out and she’s okay for a few moments, then she just wants him to leave her alone. They will be back to normal in no time.

So glad to hear that she is back home.
I'm curious.... Did she return on her own? Did you find her somewhere? Was she at an animal shelter?

I am so happy to hear this! 10 is a long time. I freak out when my Lucy is gone for an hour.
She must be so happy to be home and safe, who knows what she had to deal with out in the wild for 10 days.
