I think I am going to be sick.
DH was outside with our cats in the backyard. The cat from 2 doors south came into the yard and our little female cat took off after it. DH followed her, but couldn’t keep up. He has hunted all around the neighborhood and cannot find her. She is just gone. We are afraid someone grabbed her. She wouldn’t go willingly.
Our cats do not roam the neighborhood, they are only ever out with supervision.
This just sucks.

I hope she comes home soon! Put her litter box outside and maybe even an article clothing that she likes to sleep on. Cats have very good sense of smell.

The litterbox is outside. I’ll get DH to put out one of her blankets.

Post a photo of with info and lost wording on community groups, hang posters, and if able alert any lost/found out groups. Also let animal control know when open.
Go to doors with info flyer around where your dh last saw her

After dark and after the neighborhood has settled down you can walk around with some tuna or stinky wet food and call her name. I hope she comes home.

Walk around calling. Walk thru neighbors yards calling. Look under and in shrubs.
My old man cat got out (DH left him outside when he locked up the house to leave) a few months back. We searched, walked the neighborhood, called and called. I was walking into the backyard and kept calling and I heard a low guttural meow/growl and he was scared hiding under a shrub right by the gate to the backyard. He was so freaked out and happy I grabbed him. He doesn’t venture much past the back porch anymore.
I hope you find her!

If the cat is not an outdoor cat, once she stopped chasing the other cat, she probably got scared and is hunkered down somewhere. Check bushes and even check neighbor’s garages and outdoor sheds. I’ve seen stories on ND where someone’s cat was found inside a neighbor’s garage. Our cat escaped once and she hid under the built-in BBQ grill. I only found her because I heard her bell.

I hope you find her soon. Cats do like to explore and they can find their way home. They have an uncanny sense about that.

We did the litter trick and a small bowl of their cat food. Ours roamed in around 4:00 am. Dd and I slept by the open slider door with just the screen closed so we could hear as soon as he started eating from the kitty bowl of food.

Also put out a piece of your clothing. Go outside and call the cat quietly throughout the day and nite. A friends cat returned home within two days using the litter box outside. Some say they stay within a block of home the first week. Talk to your neighbours. Post and look in Kijiji lost and found. Check local veterinary clinics. Check in local community Facebook groups. We also have yyc pet recovery Facebook group here in Calgary.Maybe you have something similar.

Hopefully she will find her way back to her litter box. My dd had her house cat find home that way when she had been lost for several hours in a rainstorm. Our cat found her way home in a rural area after she had been gone two weeks in frigid weather. So there is hope.

Oh I’m so sorry! Our cat likes to escape when it’s cold but only stays in our yard since he’s a scaredy cat.
I like the idea of putting out clothing or blankets with your smell on it or his brothers.
Hoping you find him soon!

I’ve read that cats don’t wander far from home and are usually within just a few houses from home. I’d knock on doors and let neighbors know, in addition to putting it on social media. I hope your little girl is home soon.

I hope she comes home soon. They don't like to wander to far away. Keep hoping and looking. She might be hiding with other cats or near a crawlspace at another home near by. She will probably find a place to hide because she is scared.

Any updates?
If you have a neighborhood group on Facebook or NextDoor, post there with photos and also if your area has a lost pets page. If she isn’t microchipped, that would be something I would take care of once you get her home again. It’s really the easiest way for someone who finds a lost pet to get him or her back to you quickly. The first thing any vet or animal control will do is scan the pet to see if they can find your contact info from a chip.

I was praying you'd have a happy update this morning. I hope she made her way home safely, if not already, then soon. ETA: I agree with taliakat , they don't venture far. We lost our cat while traveling from Texas to our home in ND. Thanks to a photo and the searching rodeomom did (I will forever be grateful to her and her DH ) we had a happy ending. She was missing a month and was found only about 300 feet from where she ran off. Do not give up hope!

Do you have Nextdoor or something similiar? People might post there if they've seen her and you can post that you're looking for her. I hope she comes home very soon. Cats tend to show up out of the blue.

She still hasn’t been found. Her littermate brother is beside himself. They’ve rarely been apart in 6 years.
DH checked the neighborhood numerous times during the night. Someone on Facebook kindly offered a trap. DH is now off to get posters printed up.
He’s convinced someone picker her up, but I am not so sure. She’s not the least bit cuddly so I am not sure anyone could get close enough.
Thanks for all the positive ideas, it helps. We are not doing too well as we are so worried about her.

After dark and after the neighborhood has settled down you can walk around with some tuna or stinky wet food and call her name. I hope she comes home. Do this and while outside bring a flashlight with you. Shine it up in trees, under bushes, etc. Her eyes will reflect the light.
