This is just the best thread ever! And so much good info! Who knew there was so much to know about COLORING!! LOL. Am I the only one who thinks that these books would be so much better if they were spiral bound? So hard to colour when they aren't flat. Are you cutting them apart? I see some people are scanning the pictures so they must be to get them flat enough to scan... Right? Yes, they would be so much better spiral bound. I wonder if Kinkos still does spiral binding. Hm. Will have to check that out!

I tear my pages out and color on a piece of smooth card stock. Then I put finished drawing in a 8x11 photo album. That way I'll have all my finished work in one book since I color from several different ones. Plus putting them in a protective sleeve will keep the drawings from getting smeared, especially with the chalk pencils.

Yes, when we had a Kinko's here they too did the spiral binding!!
It is the best if you need a book to lay flat without fighting the spine to do that.

I took our coloring book apart and put it in a protectors. This way it looks nice and the gel pens, crayons and pencils don't rub on each other.
Daughter and I like to do challenges so we make a list of challenges to do on the pages and I type them up and put them in the front of the book.
We have been doing this for years. We have a few large binders full of coloring sheets. The coloring sheets we get off the internet we do the same with. This way we can color each page flat. I like using a clip board to color on. I put a piece of printer paper under the color sheet so that it gives a little padding. It also helps if there is a colored picture on the opposite side from making a mess on the clip board. I also like having 2 or 3 pages going at a time because the gel pens need to dry between colors sometimes if you are coloring all over the page at the same time.
I buy the page protectors at Costco. I have found they are cheaper there.

Maybe I'll send one to my adult son and make him hang it on his fridge. Payback for all his drawings I hung when he was little!! Funniest thing I've heard all day! Thanks for the chuckle.

Yes, we are due to have a delivery from Amazon too, according to an email. It will be interesting to see if we both do get the deliveries with it being a Bank Holiday. I know Hermes couriers aren't working today, at least up here, but Amazon couriers and some of the other firms may be I suppose. Would be good if they are!

I'm so happy to see more Peas are starting to receive their books. I was in Orlando this past weekend and I scoured and called every store I could think of in the city and every single person I spoke to knew exactly what book I was talking about -- sold out! Much to my surprise (right when I was starting to feel defeated), I checked B&N.com again this afternoon and found Enchanted Forest in stock! Woohoo! As of a few minutes ago, it was still showing up as "in stock" in case anyone is interested.

Any suggestions for a manly coloring book preferably one that doesn't include fairies or lots of flowers?

Any suggestions for a manly coloring book preferably one that doesn't include fairies or lots of flowers? An abstract book may be a bit more manly. Perhaps one like THISHere is a page to print that is a bit more "masculine"

For my coloring pages, I carefully removed them from the bound book and took to Kinkos to have them copied onto heavier paper. (Probably could do it myself at home) This way I had thicker paper for gel and ink pens and I could recopy the original as much as I wanted to color over and over again.

Amazon just sent me this link to some more free coloring pages. Because I'd had enchanted forest on my wait list. I took it off. I might order later, but probably not. I colored some and it was interesting, but it wasn't "enough". I like to paint. I bought several and I'm going to give them for Christmas gifts. They will probably be scoffed at by my family but who cares.

I'm hopping on the bandwagon! I received "Color Me Calm", colored pencils, and a sharpener as a Mother's Day gift.

I just received Enchanted Forest. I'm disappointed as I didn't realize that the drawings are back/back on these pages. I also am kinda bummed as some of the designs go right up to the spine. By the designs doing that I won't be able to have it spiral bound as I'll lose some of the design.

Does anyone use pastels for their coloring books? Either oil or chalk? I've been thinking I would print some of the designs on cardstock before coloring and save the finished piece in a protective sleeve.
ETA: My high school art days were before aerosol sprays and we blew fixative onto our pastel work.

I love my craft books spiral bound. They are so much easier for me to deal with that way. May I ask how much it costs to do this? Thanks!

By the designs doing that I won't be able to have it spiral bound as I'll lose some of the design. I thought it would bother me, too, but I had it bound anyway and I'm really happy with the way it turned out. After some thought, I decided that since it would be very hard to get to those parts right next to the spine without breaking the spine and risking pages falling out, that this was really the best option. FWIW, I had it bound with a 4:1 pitch. ETA: Also, the girl who bound it for me did such a great job of cutting the spine off as close to the edge of the page as possible, I didn't lose any of the image. Yes, there are small holes in some of them but that doesn't bother me like I thought it might.

It wasn't much. I had a few books bound and maybe it came to around $10. To me it's worth it as it makes it so much easier to deal with some of the craft books I have.

I am obsessively checking Amazon to find out when my books will ship and it always says they need more time. I have been patiently waiting, but now I really want them to come! I've been saving the pages that I have, I only have a couple left. I'm beginning to be jealous of all of you that have yours already!! I got excited when I saw that the UK ladies were getting theirs.
I checked at Staples and they said it would probably be around $5 to bind.
