My children were lucky enough to play with 70's toys too (they were born 1991-2006) - I collect vintage Fisher Price Little People (and I'm sad that my youngest has finally outgrown them - I need to find a display place for them now); we still have a FP phonograph and a viewmaster and a spirograph and my old baby dolls and lincoln logs and ....

I also had some weird chipmunk or squirrel toys where you out your fingers in their arms and when you squeezed them they squeeked. They lived in a softish log that Velcro closed.
One thing I have asked about before and people insist was play-dough, but I promise you it wasn't, was some sort of dough set where you ate the dough. It was yellow, brown and pink dough, it was very soft and came with a brown and yellow checked mat. You were supposed to eat the dough, and it was flavored, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Trust me, I ate my share of playdough too, but this was dough you were supposed to eat.
Speaking of playdough, how about the fuzzy pumper barber shop. Remember the dad with his orange hair and beard? That was a great toy! I loved the mold for the moms hair and used it on the dad all the time.
Speaking of things you weren't supposed to eat, how about paste? That stuff was tasty! There are some glue sticks that smell like paste, but I think I am too old to see how they taste. As fast as my students go through glue sticks, I do wonder sometimes if they aren't eating them.
Oh, how about sticker collecting and scratch and sniff stickers? My favorite was just good old orange and marshmallow.

Omgosh, I just thought about my ?bionic Woman and Steve Austin dolls. They were a bit bigger than Barbie, but I made my Barbie wear the blue outfit from the Bionic Woman because I liked it so much. Steve Austin came with masks, one was Oscar Goldman, I found oscar's face in my mother's junk drawer years and years ago, my brother and I like to hide it around her house when we visit, I also had Drowsy, Baby Tender Love and Mrs. Beasley.
We also had the best tv. Family Affair, Bionic Woman, courtship of Eddie's Father, Hulk, Wonder Woman, Chips, Emergency, That's Incredible, Solid Gold, etc.

I guess I identify in the '60's but I did graduate high school in 1970. '70's is bell bottom pants! Another 1970 graduate here... I loved the days of mini skirts.... I had great legs, then I graduated in 1971 and I actually got married in a mini skirt in 1972! Remember Twiggy and white lipstick? My DDs were born in 1973 and 1975. I bought a lot of the toys you guys are talking about for them. I had one of the first Barbies to come out, probably around '60, '61. Bubble cut hair and the strapless black and white swimsuit. I got a brunette, my sister got a blonde and my other sister got a redhead. We each got a different color case. Mine was black and one of my sisters got red. I don't recall what the third color was though. We got Ken, Midge and Skipper when they came out too.

Let's see, some of my favorite things were handmedowns from my older siblings like the Shrinky Dink Shrink Machine (still have it somewhere). I coveted my friend's flower maker thing where you squeezed the colored goop into the heated metal molds that cooked it into a rubbery toy (there was also a creepy crawler version). I also liked Lisa Frank rainbow stickers and notebooks and stuff. I collected scratch and sniff stickers. But my all time favorite stuff was the drugstore candies you can't get anymore (or that are hard to find) like Delfa Rolls licorice, Satellite Wafers, licorice pipes, Turkish Taffy. I can't even think of it all now but I sure do miss it!

I actually bought a set of the Mickey Mouse ones I had as a kid from someone on eBay last year! It came bundled with a couple other Mickey and Minnie Colorforms sets I didn't have and a new in the box set of Mickey Mouse Shrinky Dinks--all for about $20!

Remember the yellow upside down buckets with lime green strings, you out your foot on the bucket and used the green strings to hold and walked around. I don't know what they were really called, but we called them romper stompers. Roller skates that looked like tennis shoes were the big thing for cruising the neighborhood, of course at night we played kick the can and ghost in the graveyard. Fashion Plates were super fun too, and I think those are back! My cabbage patch doll was named Corey Fred and he was sporting a stylish pink corduroy two piece outfit. Those WERE romper stompers--as in from the show Romper Room

Oh, I could go on and on! I had an Easy Bake oven, a Dancerina doll, one of those circular groovy radios, a Monkees hand puppet, Monkees albums, Gumby and Pokey figures, an Etch a Sketch, wooden Tinker toys, a Barbie Dune Buggy , Troll doll, a record player, and a Light Brite edited to add, some of those may have been 60's stuff, it all runs together. You are the only adult I've ever run across who remembers Dancerina. Oh how I loved mine!

I know many of you here grew up in the 70's as did I. I think we had some very cool things back then! I've always been kind of stuck in the 70's state of mind. I will admit to 'saving' a lot of things from my childhood just because they brought me joy back then. For example, my Barbies and their gear like the Country Camper. Lots of dolls too. I had some really groovy pencils in elementary school, and I can't find them to buy anywhere. I am not even sure WHY I want to have them, except they bring back good memories. I did find a picture of them so maybe that will be enough, lol. What cool 70's kid stuff do you remember fondly? Toys, food, fashions, shampoo, activities, TV shows, whatever... Oh, here are the pencils: I loved those pencils too. We could buy them in the school library. I was so bummed when they switched to NFL pencils! Also, Santa used to bring me personalized pencils because nothing pre-made ever had my name on it, but I always checked the racks of license plates and such just in case.
Once, my gymnastics coach ordered custom pencils for the team, which she intended to have say "Gymnasts are number one!" except there wasn't enough space. She had to abbreviate it to "Gymnasts are no. one". You can see where this is going, right? Yep, they arrived saying "Gymnasts are no one" and she kept trying to poke periods in them with a thumbtack and finally gave up. I still have one

We had great hair products and commercials but it wasn't called conditioner ... It was "cream rinse" ? My kids laugh when I sometimes say that. I had the Barbie airplane. My sister had the pool and the camping set. All of them were "some assembly required" by today's standards. I was more of a tom-boy and had Evil Knevil motorcyle jump set and some of those cars with the plastic rip cord pulls. I just retrieved my 1980 Dukes of Hazard General Lee from my parents garage this summer when visiting. That garge is like a 1970s/80s time capsule. My mom saved box tops to get Boo-Berry and Count Chocula halloween costumes for us one year. You know those thin nylon things that tied at the back and a plastic mask.

disneypal- I just took a peek at your 70's pinterest board and saw the Freakies Cereal! I distinctly remember getting to eat that cereal for breakfast once when my mom was in the hospital and friends brought meals over to the house for us. We never got to eat sweet cereal (just plain old cheerios, wheaties or oatmeal, maybe raisin bran once in a while), so those Freakies were a real treat for us kids! Our box had a refrigerator magnet in it for the prize. I haven't thought about that in ages! Remember the jingle for Freakies cereal? link Boss Moss. We used to call our older sister, Boss Moss, when she would be...well...bossy. We also liked Quisp cereal, I can find a box of Quisp cereal every once in a while. I wasn't into Barbies, except I did have a Talking Stacey (Barbie's friend) doll. She had the side pony tail and had red hair. And the crazy striped two-piece bathing suit. link Staceyand also Rock Flowers. The dolls could stand on the record player when you played the record that came with the doll. link to Rock Flowers.

Do you all remember Tuesday Taylor? She was a Barbie-like doll with brunette and blonde hair. You twisted the top of her head to change hair colors. I had her and tons of other Barbies. I also had a beloved Mrs. Beasley doll from Family Affair. My brother tossed her into our little plastic pool and she got waterlogged and moldy. I loved Tuesday Taylor! My sister got me one for Christmas a couple of years ago.

I loved my Barbies especially my talking Barbie she was my favorite. My very favorite toy was one called "Swervy curvy topsy turvy tipsy skipsy doodle! I have a photo of one on my pinterest board. I will put a link to my pinterest that show my favorite toys from the 60's and 70's. Swervy curvy "things"

Those WERE romper stompers--as in from the show Romper Room To this day, I remember the crushing disappointment of not having my name called out as being seen in the Magic Mirror. I would jump up and down in front of the tv screaming "I'M HERE I'M HERE!" and every day be so sad that no one ever saw me.

You put the little plastic hoop around your ankle and jumped over it as it swung around. The footsie had the red bell shaped thing and for the Lemon Twist, it was yellow and shaped like a lemon. (Came back in the 1980's as "Skip-it). My friends and I used to spend hours doing that, would play with it while walking to school or the pool or at recess. Loved it!!! Link to Footsielink to Lemon TwistWe also loved Chinese jump rope, double dutch. Oh and yes to the Click Clacks.

One thing I have never been able to find online, despite searching Pinterest and ebay many many times is something our school sold, maybe as a fundraiser or something. They were an amber/yellow piece of plastic in different designs. About the size of a child's palm. Flat, but puffy, like the puffy stickers. They were attached to a yellow elastic cord and you hung them on your jacket zipper. I think they were called Danglers, or Dangles, or something like that. Nobody I have ever talked to about 'good old 70's stuff' remembers them either. Anyone?
Also, is is just me or is anyone else a bit creeped out when looking through the Pinterest boards of this kind and coming across the Bill Cosby Jello-Pops photos? LOL

I was born in 1960 so I was a child of the 60's, a teen in the 70's graduated high school in 1978. I loved the 70's, still think it was the best decade, certainly for music anyway. As far as dolls go I think I was the only girl who never had a Barbie. Well, maybe not only, that's really pushing it, but you know what I mean. My mother thought they weren't "proper" for little girls because they had boobs. We had Liddle Kiddle dolls instead. Anyone remember those? They were fantastic. Little rubber dolls about 3" high and each one came with something, there was a blonde girl that came with a lemonade stand, there was a girl that came with an airplane and so on. Those came out in 1968 when I was 8 years old. My sister and I had a collection of these dolls as did our two friends who lived across the street. You can see them if you look on Ebay. Anyway, we four girls played together every day, and built a whole village for these little dolls. Later they came out with smaller versions that came in lockets-these are the ones most people remember.
As far as the 70's go, I remember the Herbal Essence shampoo because my best friend in high school-her father worked for Clairol, and she'd get me all of these samples for free. That was one of my favorite shampoos because of the smell and the illustration on the front.
I remember the Panasonic doughnut radio that another Pea mentioned and I also had a Panasonic 8 track tape player that looked like a square with a plunge down handle at the top in bright blue plastic. I also remember Gunny Sax dresses-I thought they were really beautiful back then. How about hanging out at the rollar rink on Saturday nights? Did any of you do that? We did-small town, not much else to do.
Debbie in MD.

I love seeing all of these! I had a Give-A-Show-Projector, an EZ Bake (of course) and a Tammy as well as a Barbie.
When I was older, I loved wearing Heaven Sent and Charlie colognes. And definitely Herbal Essence, hip hugger bell bottoms and halter tops with the triangle bottom front.

I must be a bit of a hoarder, as I still have my original Light Bright and Spirograph. We had the best stuff back then, didn't we? Yes we did. I had the best childhood ever. And happily, my children of the 80's say the same thing. I wanted their memories to be as good as mine.
