From what I understand, that DNA they found wasn't specific to sweat, so it wouldn't have been that hard for them to come by. julie I thought the DNa on the keys was sweat not blood.

Even though they are using the term sweat, it really refers to skin cells (as opposed to bodily fluids or hair)

Sorry, I can't quote because my phone is being a jerk, but I understand that the deputy who investigated the car contaminated the site because he didn't wear gloves and was handling some of Steven Avery's personal items previously. It is possible that he transferred skin cells.

Sweat doesn't have DNA, but it can carry epithelial cells that have DNA. Just touching an object can transfer epithelial DNA as well. One of the evidence techs testified that he didn't change his gloves when he went from working on Avery's car to opening the hood of Teresa Halbach's car, so that's another plausible way that Avery's DNA could have been transferred to the hood latch. DA Ken Kratz is the one who pushed, and is still pushing, the idea the DNA came from sweat. He has a preoccupation with sweat apparently.
ETA: sorry, started writing before Burning Feather's comment. But yeah, to me the "sweat DNA" doesn't seem as big a deal as the actual Avery blood in her car. I hope that's being retested by an independent lab.

The "sweat" DNA was just epithelial DNA...could have come from anything. Sorry!! I had this thread opened for awhile before I replied
