I graduated with a group of approx 20 friends nearly 10 years ago.
Of these, 14 are currently in a relationship, married or otherwise, 5 aren't and one I have no contact with.
Of the 14, 8 met at highschool (3 couples + 2 with partners outside our immediate group) leaving 6 who met partners after school. I already think this is crazy. However, with the exception of one.. everyone's partner is within 12-18months of in age.
From scrolling through previous threads I get the feeling this isn't really normal...but outside my immediate group, other friends from high school are showing this trend too - at least 8 other couples I knew at school are still together. I don't feel it's good or bad - just interesting and curious to know about the rest of the world. I'm not from a small town and my graduating class had about 170 people in it
What about you? How old were you when you met? Did many couples you knew at high school stay together?
Apparently this is the most important thing on my mind at 6am...

We were 25 and 26. I'm older.
My brother married his high school sweetheart and they'll be celebrating 20 years next month. I have several friends who met their spouses in school.

I was 16, he was 19. We didn't go to school together, we worked together (though we went to the same school, but he had already graduated). We didn't become a couple until we were 17 & 20, though. I know of a few other couples from HS that have been together the same amount of time, but not many. One of the couples were a cheerleader and a football player. I think it's so cute that they're still together, seem to be still in love, and have two young girls. I like to see their happy pics on facebook |

I was 12 when I met my DH (who was 18 when we met). We were friends for years before we dated (me 17, him 23). We got married when I was 18 and he was 24. it's been 23 years

I was 15 (almost 16) and he had just turned 18. I don't recall anyone else I knew in high school who is married to who they were with then, but I do seem to know quite a few who met in college and are still married. I do have a college friend who is married to her high school sweetheart.

We were both sixteen and met in our first year of college. I'm exactly a week older than he is. However, we were close friends only throughout college and graduate school, and didn't start seriously dating until several years after we met.

I know quite a few people in my age group who met in high school and are still together. I met my husband when I was 32 and he was 31. I am 8 months older. He loves saying he is married to an older woman.

Ex and I met in university and got married when we were 21. That relationship lasted 26+ years. However I know lots of couples from my fairly small high school (around 700 students) who are are still together more than 25 years later.

Years ago, we were friends with a couple who met in high school. I believe they're still married today.
Other than that, I don't think I know any couples who met in high school.
