I've read posts throughout the years on the boards. Some in support of no guns, some in support and some just outraged about gun owners.
No judgements, just was curious about it. It is a very personal choice to own weapons. Personally we will never give our choice to own weapons up. We have several handguns, shotguns and rifles. All are in our gun safe. I know how to shoot them and on several occasions throughout the years have pulled more than one out. Our girls have been taught gun saftey and are not given the safe code... parents are aware that we have weapons because of hubby's job. No one has ever had an issue about them.
What is your opinion....no bashing, be nice. Thanks for your answers.

I've never wanted guns, never had guns, and don't see myself having them in the future, however I support our right to have the choice.

I don't.
I grew up in a house that hunted- my parents own many guns. I don't hunt though, so I don't feel the need for them.

Never thought I would, but I have a CHL and pistols. I was raised around guns, but never handled one. It took a long time for me to make the decision to become a gun owner.

My DH was military so we do have guns. Stored and locked correctly. He wants me to get my own once I'm comfortable handling for when he travels. But that may be a while.

yep have two .22 rifles and an old Thompson muzzleloader that everyone we know is too afraid to shoot it because its just been so long since its been shot---and really at this point I wouldn't let anyone who wanted to, shoot it.
living in the country on a farm its just smarter to have one, not necessarily for self protection but for things like rabid racoons, injured by a car but not dead wildlife like deer etc.and yes I can and have always called my neighbor for stuff like that but now that the 18yr old is the age he is and has had guided assistance with the guns and with others while hunting with people if he were around he would be the one take care of such things. and yes we have animal control, but they only in the past few years expanded from the city to the county(as for dogs and cats) and I can just about guarantee if you called them for a rabid raccoon in your yard they would tell you they don't do that sort of thing---they wont even come to the county to pick up stray dogs, but will take them in at the shelter if you take them in.

Both DH and I are prior military and have never personally owned a gun, nor have we ever felt the need to.

I have a shotgun that I inherited from my granddad, and DH has a gun he acquired for personal safety after an incident. I don't know how to use either of them, but he does.

I don't but dh does. He inherited them and they are locked away. Neither of us has had a desire to go shooting. In fact, he stopped hunting when we started dating. Nothing I said, he just lost interest.

My answer is yes, we own guns, BUT they are historic reproductions of 18th and 19th century weapons used for reenactments and living history. They are black powder guns.
We do not and would not own any modern weapons for any reason I can think of.
I did not check yes or no because I do not know if you are referring to those types of guns.

Nope. Not raised with them; never considered buying one. Don't know any hunters. Don't know anyone around here who has ever said they own one, although many have said they don't. (Or imply it in conversations about gun control.)
(I've made that last statement on this board before and it was disputed by both American and international members, who claimed that most of the people I know DO own guns, but they just don't talk about it. It's very strange to have your life experiences disputed. While I admit I've been stunned by some of the gun-owner threads here, I have no reason to doubt what people report about their own lives.)

We own quite a few guns. They are all locked up and no one except DH and I know where the keys are. The boys have both been through gun safety training.

We don't. I've shot guns before. So has dh. We just don't have a desire to have one in the house. We don't hunt either so no rifle, shotgun, or even arrows.
My parents have a couple. The in laws have quite a few between them all.
I'm all for responsible gun ownership. I detest rabid owners though. I'd rather not know if you have a gun than to know that you're openly advertising that you own more than one.

No. I was not raised with them. I will not own a gun for various reasons. I feel safer not having a gun in my home than having one. I don't know any hunters. Didn't grow up that way. Being a vegan currently and for the past two years means I don't even eat meat, so that takes that equation off the table-don't need a gun to harvest vegetables. Plan on being a vegan the rest of my life. Debbie in MD.

Dh is a retired Navy gunnersmate and currently works at a county jail. He owns two guns. I don't own any guns but was taught how to shoot both a rifle and a pistol many years ago.

My dad loved to hunt and I shot a rifle at five. It knocked me on my but and that was about it for me. We had guns in racks on the wall and I was never tempted to touch one. My husband had two of his dad's guns (may or may not work- not bullets though).

I know this is a message board and somewhat anonymous, but I was raised to never let people know you own guns! I only know of family members who own them because they bring them to our family reunion and some go hunting.
I don't own any, but I'm not opposed to responsible people owning guns.

Yes. We own multiple guns. Really they are DH's guns. I would have never owned a gun had it not been for him

Not by choice. My FIL gifted one to my dh even though I am staunchly anti-gun. It's locked in a safe with no ammo. I'd love to make it disappear.
It really pissed me off when he gave it to him. I've always been very open about my opinion on this. He knew I won't let my kids go to houses with guns including my sister's house.

No. Never gone hunting or know anyone who hunts (that's the main reason for gun ownership in New Zealand).

I'm in the "never have never will" camp.
Up until recently I would have said I didn't know anyone who owns a gun, but I found out that a friend of ours has a shotgun that he uses to shoot rabbits and foxes and other non-native animals at the vineyard where he works.

We have a Bb gun. I am against having it in our house. My husband disagrees. He would like something "more", but I am holding firm in the NO camp. When he brings it up I remind him that we have 3 small kids who like to get into things. NO.
