Ho boy!!! I am working the Dixie Chicks concert tonight......In Tinley Park, Il I can't hear the concert where I work, I'm in the back, way back, counting all of the money fans spend at the concerts!!! It's super secret, guarded area with armed guards and bullet proof glass, so I feel really safe.
But I do get to go out into the crowds and see the people and my badge gives me un-limitless access to any place in the venue. It's a fun job, I work with about 6 other women.

Politics and music have frequently mixed. There are several artists whose political views I know because they don't hide it. I don't get the indignation or understand the idea that this is disrespectful. Its their opinion, you may not agree, but thats your choice. It made me laugh.

My stating my opinion is very different than paying for entertainment like a concert. It's disrespectful to some audience members, which should never happen. They are missing way more than $10, honey. You're assuming that people don't know that the Dixie Chicks express their opinions freely. Again, First Amendment! What you are saying would be just like stating that Trump et al., should keep his opinions, thoughts, outbursts to himself too. Doesn't matter if their is a paying audience or not, it's all about Freedom of Speech. I wouldn't have known they were going to have immature crap like that at a concert. Do they show you in advance? This is really, really immature of them.

I haven't seen any, but I feel the same way on both sides. Don't be disrespectful to people who paid to see you perform. Here ya go...here's Ted Nugent at a concert calling President Obama a piece of shit and Hillary Clinton a worthless bitch... Yes, that was absolutely uncalled for and disrespectful.

Then you aren't a true fan, and probably would not be attending their sold out shows. i cannot WAIT to see them on August 7th with my crew of girlfriends. We love their music. I'm not attending for their political views. I don't really care about who they think should be in charge or not.. Just like I don't care what Rob Lowe or Brad Pitt think about politics. Celebrities are people entitled to an opinion just like you and me. They have a platform to spread their views, doesn't mean one thing to me since I can think for myself...

I am seeing them in July and can't wait!! I hope they do something like that at our concert! We saw them perform at Bridge school last year and they were awesome. You would never think they took 10 or whatever years off, they sounded awesome. I remember seeing them in high school and loving them. So looking forward to seeing them again!

If you're so worried about people in the spotlight being "immature" then why aren't you expressing the same sentiment about Trump himself? He's completely childish and immature himself.
Watch him mock a reporter who has a disability:
or calling reporters he doesn't like "a sleaze"
If it's a battle of immaturity - Trump wins that hands down already.

Do you also condemn conservative celebrities for doing the same thing? I can't remember – did you express outrage with Clint Eastwood after his, well, whatever that was he did at the Republican convention 4 years ago? BTW--I have tickets for their August 7 so in Austin and I cannot wait!! I'm pretty sure it's sold out...so...yeah... A political convention would be the place to state your political views. A country music concert is a place you go to play music. The two don't compare. At all.

IMO, if you pay for a concert they should shut up and sing. It's an insult to their audience members on the other side of the aisle. Anyone with brains would know that. They could be making more money but chose to be stupid instead. I think that the majority of the entertainers that are overtly political have fans that know that, and that is part of the appeal. Or they just like their music so much they can overlook it. So those people who go to a Dixie Chick concert, or to some one like Neil Young, Steve Earle, or Bruce Cockburn, know what they are getting. Much like if you go to a concert of a Christian Rock artist you probably are going to hear some religious views. And if you are an atheist that loves their music you will either overlooked it or not attend. I think those artist must be happy enough with the money that they are making as they continue to express their views.

While I don't want to hear about people's political beliefs at a concert, I have no control over what other people can do or say. It is legal. They have plenty of fans who support them. Anyone who was around in the 70's (and prior to that) knows that many musicians wrote song after song representing their political beliefs in addition to verbal attacks. The veterans who came home were bombarded by the music that did not support them or the political world they fought for. It is life. On a completely different topic, rainbow, I think it was your daughter who was hurt at school. Is she better? I had a girl drop from the bars at recess one time and she had some pretty serious injuries. I was just wondering. I know you don't want to put info out in the cyber world, (good idea), but I was just wondering.

It's immature, but also funny and playing to their audience. What bothers me most are the comments on that link. There are some scary people out there. I can't imagine believing it's ok to, in Natalie's own words, "tell someone to shut up and sing or your life will be over".
Trump seems to bring this hateful, violent attitude out in people. I worry if he's elected people will see this as an ok way to treat human beings.

Singers have been expressing their political thoughts for years hello Bob Dylan. I think the majority of people who attend a DC concert know what they can or might expect.
I don't think they are hurting for $ and you or others not attending their concert won't stop them from voicing their thoughts or beliefs.
I loved them back when they did the George W stuff they don't shy away from their opinions or offer any apologies!

Are you saying that you advocate censorship, or are you just reveling in being offended?
If it's the former, do you want all musicians censored, or just the ones you disagree with? Is it only musicians you want censored?
If it's the latter, then revel on.

They could be making more money but chose to be stupid instead. Anyone with a brain would know it was likely that they'd be vocal about their political feelings- in an election year, especially. I'd think anyone that would be so offended or shocked by this, would not be likely to attend one of their concerts. For example, even if I liked his music, I find Ted Nugent so vile and disgusting as a human being, I couldn't make myself spend money or time on being in his presence. I don't expect him to shut up - he doesn't appear to have an ounce of common sense or decency - so it's on me to avoid him.
