And, FWIW, their shows sell out, so they aren't losing a penny by you (or others who are offended by them) not purchasing a ticket. There is always someone else who will buy that ticket you didn't. In fact, for this tour, the demand for tickets has been so astronomical that they have had to add dates. If you think that they are losing money from you, or any of the others you claim are offended, you don't understand basic economics. I understand that they didn't get a cent from me.

I live under a proverbial rock where the Dixie Chicks are concerned - I'm Canadian and I have a visceral reaction to country music - and I would still know that you could expect political commentary at one of their concerts.

A political convention would be the place to state your political views. A country music concert is a place you go to play music. The two don't compare. At all. AHHH, so there it is... One can only express their viewpoints on political topics at political rally's. Ahhhh (smacking-my-head-like-I-just-had-a-V8). It's so much clearer now that the Free Speech "rules" have been explained here. Smh Yeaaaah, that's not what I said at all. KatyBee asked if Rainbow was outraged at someone expressing their political views at a political convention. I was commenting on the absurdity of comparing that with a music venue. It wasn't about making rules.

I'm sure that the Dixie Chicks are smiling all the way to the bank, and don't really care that some disapprove. So you can lecture all that you want, but they have a loyal audience and can afford to ignore those who don't like their message. You don't approve, and they don't care.

And Ted Nugent won't ever get a cent from me. I promise you-- HE DOES NOT CARE!
ETA: Actually – it probably makes him really happy that he ticks off this hippie liberal so much. I would imagine that if the Dixie Chicks knew they pissed you off, they might get a little giddy, as well.

Which, coincidentally, is what you kept claiming up thread, again and again. It would only hurt them financially if those tickets went unsold. But they don't. So, again, incorrect assumptions on your part.

But yet you feel you "know" the Dixie Chicks well enough to call them immature, say that it's an insult to their audience members...anyone with brains.... A picture like that is immature, and it is an insult to some audience members. Why is this so difficult for you? It's not. You're the one making assumptions about their audience being offended. You made the comment that "anyone with brains..." Which is saying that anyone who does not agree with your view point is dumb. You're not an audience member, you're not a fan, you don't like their music, don't know their music, so why do you care?

And, by the way, I really am not passionate about the Dixie Chicks one way or the other - I wouldn't have performed in front of the picture, but am not offended that they did. I like their music - but only have purchased the live 2 CD set because of their version of Landslide.
I just am endlessly amused by the lengths you will go to to refuse to admit that you might not have been correct in your claims and assumptions, so am entertaining myself by throwing facts at your arguments and watching you dance around.

Of course you are right not to give them any money - they offend you. They don't offend their audiences, however, which is what you keep claiming. That is where you are making an assumption and are wrong. I don't think you speak for everyone in their audience. I seriously doubt that everyone there is as immature as they seem to be. Seriously, it's time for them to grow up.

I find Ted Nugent to be reprehensible. I think that the hate he spews is biblical in proportion. And I'm not stupid, nor narcissistic, enough to think or claim that he either: a) cares, or should care, what I think; b) cares what anyone other than the NRA thinks; or c) will lose a penny because I won't buy his music, nor go to his concerts.
That is one of many differences between the two of us.

Do you also condemn conservative celebrities for doing the same thing? I can't remember – did you express outrage with Clint Eastwood after his, well, whatever that was he did at the Republican convention 4 years ago? BTW--I have tickets for their August 7 so in Austin and I cannot wait!! I'm pretty sure it's sold out...so...yeah... I don't really give a flying fig about what performers on either side do a a political Convention to me that's a huge DUH if you expect someone at a political convention not to be political. Comparing the two is like comparing apples to eggs. I don't generally want to listen to a political tirade at a concert that I paid mega bucks for tickets. This is one reason why I don't bother buying tickets for pretty much anyone anymore. Because if it's not being subjected to a lengthy boring political tirade then it's possibly too drunk or stoned to perform coherently. I really don't need to pay for that either. You want to mouth off at a POLITICAL convention go ahead. Who cares. You want to bore people with your droning on about your personal viewpoint on any subject political or otherwise then go to a free venue to do it. then it's fair game so to speak. Don't charge $100's of dollars to subject people to it. I do think the picture is childish and stupid. I'm not voting for Trump either way but her middle school picture isn't going to be the reason. Trump being an ass will pretty much be the reason. And look I gave you my opinion free of charge. Very well said.

For anyone who has not seen it, the documentary Shut Up and Sing is really good. I know Rainbow and Gia probably won't watch it – but for the rest of you, it is available to rent on Amazon.

Seriously Rainbow, do you have a link to prove that their concerts are suffering? Because otherwise, you are just venting. And that's fine, but railing against them and saying that they should change their show is just that-venting.
