For anyone who has not seen it, the documentary Shut Up and Sing is really good. I know Rainbow and Gia probably won't watch it – but for the rest of you, it is available to rent on Amazon. I'm not sure why you think I wouldn't watch it, or was that just a jab at me because I didn't agree with you that it would outrage anyone on the planet that someone was giving their political opinions at political convention?

What I find bothersome is the context in which DT's picture was displayed. We are discussing violence at Trump rallies and how unacceptable it is yet here are the DC showing a (stupid) picture of DT while singing a song about killing a man and how it is justified that he was killed. Does it seem hypocritical to anyone else or am I just being overly sensitive about it? I really like the Dixie Chicks and I really dislike Donald Trump, but I agree with this. When they said they were embarrassed to be from the same state as GWB? Eh, no big deal. But insinuating that it would be ok if Trump was killed? Not cool.

Seriously Rainbow, do you have a link to prove that their concerts are suffering? Because otherwise, you are just venting. And that's fine, but railing against them and saying that they should change their show is just that-venting. If they weren't acting like idiots I'd probably buy some music or attend a concert. They ARE losing money because a lot of people won't support them at all. There were even bonfires with their CDs. It doesn't take a genius to see that they are losing money that they could have had. So let them continue alienating consumers. I think it's stupid.

That was 10 years ago. If you're going to bash and rant you really should do some research and know what you are talking about. FYI the album they came out with after speaking out against Bush TEN years ago won Album of the Year and Song of the Year. Keep your $10, they don't need it.

The Dixie Chicks are certainly no more stupid, but are a hell of a lot richer, than you are being on this thread.

Funny how she claims not to care or be invested in the Dixie Chicks yet she keeps on talking!

I'm only here for the entertainment factor on this hot, slow Sunday, but the Dixie Chicks tour is most definitely not a sellout. I can find plenty of seats- even through Groupon.

That was my first thought too. But then I remembered I did hear about them touring again. I'm another one that doesn't want to hear political stuff from performers on stage, no matter who it is or who they support or dis. Luckily I haven't had to that I can remember.

It's rude and immature on their part. I don't care who 'you' support in politics.. I don't pay good money to go to a concert to hear their views (If I agree with them or not)..I go to listen to music. I have not once given them the time of day since the Bush thing. They come on the radio (which isn't much anyways) I turn the channel. If I see a story about them, I ignore it. I should just ignore this whole post (I am not going to read all the comments.. just posting and leaving)
That basically goes for any entertainer.. but these gals take it over the top and I for one won't give them any of my money or any more time other than this post.

I think it's pretty stupid. Why give Trump so much attention at their concert? I honestly find them super irritating (and don't even get me started on that nut job Ted Nugent--is he even considered an "entertainer" ?). I would classify my politics as left leaning moderate, but i was actually one of those who really didn't appreciate the whole GWB thing. It colored my opinion if them and not in a good way. I wasn't crazed about it though and wouldn't have been burning their CDS (if I had any). I'm a right-leaning moderate who didn't appreciate the GWB at all.... and still bought their music and played it regularly. My musical tastes are at odds with my politics quite often. Sometimes, I find I have to bleep myself when I'm singing along.

Wanted to add that I went to their concert in Saratoga Springs this weekend and it was awesome! This was my third time seeing them and they were just as good, or better, than ten years ago (I think the venue was also a part of that - we had lawn seats and mostly the crowd was fantastic. I say mostly because what we dubbed the "Plaid Mafia" had an all out brawl in front of us, but otherwise the crowd was great). My politics align with the Dixie Chicks, so I am biased, but I didn't find the concert overtly political (I went with a friend who is more conservative than I am and she had no issues). Before the show they had slides running on the screens and it included slides for "No Hate in Our State" - in support for LGBTQ communities, an innocence project (can't remember the exact name), and Planned Parenthood. During the show there was a picture of Donald Trump during "Goodbye, Earl" (it flashed pretty quickly - one of my friends missed it). They also skewered politics in general with "Ready to Run" - the visual included bobbleheaded versions of all the candidates. Not much talking between songs - just a lot of great music (their set was 24 songs - including a Prince tribute cover of "Nothing Compares 2 U" and a Beyonce cover). If you like their music I would recommend getting tickets ASAP. The show had an amazing energy and we had a blast!

I'm not a Trump fan, and love D.C. music. But this seems like a blatant attempt at a headline or to make the old band relevant again. Whatever, it works for them.
Its also a different situation, Bush was President.

I'll see them in Dallas in August and can NOT wait!!! Do you also condemn conservative celebrities for doing the same thing? I can't remember – did you express outrage with Clint Eastwood after his, well, whatever that was he did at the Republican convention 4 years ago? BTW--I have tickets for their August 7 so in Austin and I cannot wait!! I'm pretty sure it's sold out...so...yeah... I wouldn't have known they were going to have immature crap like that at a concert. Do they show you in advance? This is really, really immature of them. Then you aren't a true fan, and probably would not be attending their sold out shows. i cannot WAIT to see them on August 7th with my crew of girlfriends. We love their music. I'm not attending for their political views. I don't really care about who they think should be in charge or not.. Just like I don't care what Rob Lowe or Brad Pitt think about politics. Celebrities are people entitled to an opinion just like you and me. They have a platform to spread their views, doesn't mean one thing to me since I can think for myself... I am seeing them in July and can't wait!! I hope they do something like that at our concert! We saw them perform at Bridge school last year and they were awesome. You would never think they took 10 or whatever years off, they sounded awesome. I remember seeing them in high school and loving them. So looking forward to seeing them again! Awesome y'all have tickets - you are going to love it! I went with two friends and we had a blast.
