My friend and I decided we were going to dust off the Ole silhouettes and learn how to use them. So last night after work we got together hooked them up and we both decided no need to upgrade them. We are not fans. I have the 2nd generation on (SD) and she has the original. I'm going to use it for a project I'm doing and I want some sleighs cut but I'm not going to invest more into it. I love my big shot and dies. My other random is I'm actually not going to just order more cardstock I'm going to go thru my stash this weekend and see what I'm short and then order. I'm going to a stampin up retreat next month and hostess is offering free shipping so going to take advantage to stock up ONLY on what I need to. I'm very happy that I'm not liking any of the Christmas releases or product and really loving what I have right now. That's all I have for now.

I have a Craft Robo (I think it's what they called the old Silhouette in the UK maybe?) and it suddenly stopped cutting properly. It kind of cuts halfway through the cardstock. Very irritating and I couldn't figure it out, tried everything grrrrr! My Cuttlebug won't cut through the middle of dies either, no matter how many layers of extra cardstock I run it through with. Bloody things!
On a brighter note, I get product from an online store to do a monthly blog post. This month I really struggled to use WRMK Urban Chic. Yesterday I got my box of stash for my October 1st post and I've knocked out a LO and a half this afternoon. So maybe my mojo is back? Yippeee!

When you are old, like me, life is full of surprises. And some of them are even GOOD ones!
I scrapbook my dgk's season by season, and when I am done with that time of the year I pack up all related goodies and store them away.
At the end of August, I put away my summer supplies. This last week I had fun with the "School" iris case I hadn't opened in months. No school related product this year? No problem. I had way more tucked away than I needed for Back-to-School LO's for all the kids.
Now I have pulled down my "FALL" cases. yes. 2 cases. I LOVE fall papers and embellies, and stock up every year. Except this year. Haven't bought a thing. But the good news is that everything in those 2 tubs feels new again to me. Still love it. Am having fun using it. My missing pumpkin die and embossing folders are not in either tub--at least not that I have seen--but so many lovely things ARE in there. It is like Christmas! So many fun things to play with!

I have the Silhouette Cameo and absolutely love it! It took a little bit of a learning curve but now I can whip out creations pretty quickly. I have the basic subscription to the Silhouette store and am enjoying using that too.
My random scrappy discussion that I've been having with myself is that I REALLY need to go through my paper and get rid of all of it that I don't love. I have patterned paper that I bought when the girls were little (they are now 20 and 24!) that seemed like I would use but never did. Same for embellishments, stickers, etc. I need to get rid of them and free up valuable storage space for new stuff!

grammadee, I know what you mean. I'm going to start on Christmas cards soon and I can't wait to dig through my Iris cases of washi, embellishments and patterned paper. On an unrelated note, I found my valentine dies today. I had organized them with all my other dies but way in the back. I may move them with my valentine stamps because that's where my head thinks they should be.

I have no desire to upgrade my Cameo either. I love it but I am tired of upgrading die cutters. I am starting to think they are iPhones, lol. I have decided tonight to buy a lot more thin dies. I use to think I would never buy thin dies. I have two electronic cutters. Why would I need dies? I am really loving the thin dies now. They fit so well in the way I craft now. I think they are better than my electronic cutters. I am purging my room. It is going to take forever. I don't own a lot. I keep getting picky. Why does it have to always be my craft things? I can purge a house in two days but get in my craft room and it takes a million years. I have a beautiful craft room and hate it. It is so not my style. Wouldn't say anything about it to my DH for months because I felt bad and guilty for not being grateful I have a pretty room. When I told my husband he thought I was silly and I cried. Now, I am making a room I love. I am not doing a December Daily. I need more colored cardstock. My big one I decided to stop traditional scrapbooking and do my own thing. I was still holding on to traditional scrapbooks and not using them. I put them in the purge pile.

Oooh! Love random scrap talk!
I have the original Quickutz silhouette. I haven't used it in almost 4 years. I don't have a dedicated computer in my scraproom to use it with, and there's no good place to put it with the house computer. And bit of confession, even when I had a subscription and had it connected to a computer, I wasn't in love with it.
I still have a ZipeMate, and a bunch of thin wafer dies. Love those. They're within arms' reach in my scraproom, and I use them all the time.
I'm technically on a scrappy spending freeze right now, and doing fairly well. I've probably only spend $10 in the past 2 months that wasn't adhesive. Tape is allowed during the freeze.

Hi, love reading these. I have that big old red sizzix die cutter still and need to figure out how to use the newer thin dies with it. I have a few thin dies I bought or got at expos / CKC as gifts. Anyone? Just not sure, maybe I need to check YouTube. It would be so easy to just go buy another manual diecutter, but I don't want something else I'll only use occasionally. I also have the baby Cricut which I only use rarely.
I have about 10 new unused of the old style scrapbook with the pins, but I'm using the 3 ring 12x12 now. Trying to decide if I should just donate "pin" ones. I also have about 9 filled scrapbooks "pin" style filled and can't decide if I'll switch them over to the 3 ring or not.
I have mostly been working on my "things we do/ vacation" scrapbooks. I am on book 11 - 12x12 3 ring and I'm doing 2013 right now. I don't separate the books by year, just continue in chronological order. They are fun to do. I also include a page of movie tickets by year and scrap the concerts we go to, vacations, fishing trips, and so forth - all that goes in these books. 2014 has a trip to Montana and 2015 has our trip to Hawaii so I'm looking forward to getting up to those with a lot of photos.
My room is fairly organized, but still about 5 piles scattered around. I need to organize again. There is also a pile of about 8 iris containers of papers and embellishments no room for!
Going to CKC Hartford for the day next week and take one class and check out the vendors. I might try some Nuvo drops. It is about a 2 1/2 hour drive each way from northwest New Jersey, but something fun for the day plus a day off work.

I am throwing things away! I did a purge/donate of patterned paper. Now, as I open my Iris cases of embellishments, I am throwing away all the little bitty things I'll never use. I am also tossing anything I wouldn't buy again, the old letter sheets where most of the letters are gone, etc. I am sick of digging through a bunch of junk!

I am coming to the end of a major purge & reorganisation of my craft room. And am loving the new look! I invested in better storage so everything now has a proper home and I can find everything, I can honestly say that even though it's taken about four months it was well worth it. I even spend time in there actually scrapping now instead of just getting disheartened and closing the door on the clutter.
I have recently acquired a big shot machine & have started die shopping, I had no idea how many beautiful designs there were. I could quite easily spend a fortune. I have a making memories slice machine which I haven't used in months, think I might get it out & have a play with it this weekend as my husband is away and I have the whole weekend to scrap.
I am off to a stampin up day event next month and have to make & take 30 swops with me, will be making those this weekend too.

I passed by a yard sale last week that was pretty much picked through except for a neat pile of Papercrafts magazines. I asked the seller how much she wanted for them. I told her I quit subscribing a few years before they stopped and the ones she had were during those last few years. she said she didn't even want to get rid of them and was hoping someone who loved crafting would come along and buy them. we craft chatted for a bit and she wound up giving them to me for free. as i was walking away, i heard her friend say "I told you someone who loved crafting would be interested in those".

I need to go to Costco to pick up photos but the traffic out there is horrendous (it's called "The Crawl") and I am not going out there at this time of day. My BFF in town wants to go tomorrow to get some yoga pants so we can go then. I have lots of photos waiting for me out there, too which makes me very happy!

My random scrappy talk is about a speed scrap in October that Linda and I will be doing. I don't think we'll be doing challenges or using prompts or anything. It'll just be about getting a lot of scrapping done in two weeks and maybe post on a thread to toot your own horn when you finish a layout. I think it'll be October 9-22 so if anyone wants to join us please feel free to do so. The more the merrier! I haven't scrapped lately so I'm so looking forward to it. I need to get some pictures edited and ordered to be prepared. I ran out of pictures to scrap during our TYS challenge earlier this year. I don't want that to happen again. I also need to get my scrap space in order. I have recent purchases piled up and other things cluttering up the area. I want to be able to start out with a clean space and plenty of pictures.

I got a label maker from where I used to work and i am going to put labels on everything now. That way I will know which QK alphabet is which, I will know which page kits are in which holders and things will be organized not just shoved into cupboards. I am so happy about this!

Oh, labeling stuff is a good start to creating! I have my papers well organized...but unlabeled...so I end up looking for the correct folder/baggie for a while until I find the line I want.
My current scrapbook hang-up is photos. I haven't printed pictures since a year ago. I HAVE to get my act together because I always churn out my December Daily in October (for the year previous). And I make calendars for all the grandparents (sounds easy, but they're all divorced so that's 4 calendars!) and I use photos from all thru the year...except I'm a whole year behind!
Silhouette: works great, but time consuming. Big Shot: no size/design flexibility, but crank and done. Drawback of both: adhering the die cuts. I hate glue-ish fingers!

I love my Cameo. Just need to find more time to use it for projects at the moment. Life is too busy and I have too many chores! On the subject of tools, I just got an email about something new from We R Memory Keepers called a Precision Press - like a Misti. You can see it in action here. app.box.com/s/6mezp3lxa54vxfq2i4vlef2p3ff4kjskapp.box.com/s/ze2w3tq44s1cblmhhrc39n8fjjzc7eleI'm not tempted because I already have a Stampoholic but thought it was interesting that another company was producing something.

I have 24 Cropper Hopper vertical paper holders with "stuff" in them that all needs labeling and then I will know what's where. I also want to label all my Quickutz dies. That is a huge project, but it has to be done. I have plenty of alphabets and about 6 binders of them and they all need labels. I don't know which one has Marisa and which one has Emily or what. It's going to take time, of course, but it should help my scrapbooking I hope.
I already printed 2 labels and it was really easy. It does several fonts.
Just to clarify I used to work for an office supply store and I ordered a label maker before I quit. I wanted one and thought I had better get it ordered before I was done work. I didn't just "bring it home".

Love this random scrapping thread!
I love to scrap but am finding out I don't like my expensive scrap table. Before I always sat down at a regular table, had all my "stuff" around me on the table. Now I have one of those scrap tables that you stand at. It has storage shelves and is really nice, but I don't like standing to scrap and I don't like sitting up on a barstool height chair either! Grr...

Grr... I bought this really pretty chair for my scrap desk but it is so low to the ground. The springs in it make you sink, so I'm reaching up to my desk. I hate it but I guess the good side is that the pretty chair can sit in the living room!

It makes a lot of sense. I love die cutting but give me some beautiful ephemera and scissors I will spend a happy evening cutting my own die cuts for hours. I love to design things on a piece of scrap paper and then turn them into a new fussy cut design. I am still old school about paper piecing and making my own things. Random- I am supposed to be making a scrapbook birthday card. I am watching YouTube videos and looking for a new game to play on my Nintendo 3DS. Talk about progress. I know I will be forgiven because the recipient knows I have been very ill this Summer & have a lot of things going on with the remodeling of my home. I am buying her a pretty card for her Birthday. She saves all her cards and shows them off so I don't mind spending a lot of money on a card for her because she treasures them. I realized tonight I don't have any chalk inks. They have disappeared in the move. I thought my husband stole them. My main coloring love is colored pencils. My husband has more color pencils than I do. He has like ten different brands. I don't understand this he is an oil painter, lol. I was testing out stamps tonight on notebook paper. I forgot how cool stamping looks on notebook paper.

More random scrap thoughts (hope no one minds).....
Why is it that I can't keep my freeze in the Dollar Tree?
I bought three packages of "ornament filler" which is mainly really just fancy shaped sequins. I bought the red & green holly pack, the blue & iridescent white snowflake pack, and the gold and silver stars pack. I'm planning on adding it to my DD stash.
And I also picked up a swirly stencil (that's the scientific name for it, of course). I'm going to use it as a guide to make small dots with a pencil on a layout, then using Stickles, Nuvo drops (Yeah, I might be back on these, though I am wary), or small enamel dots to create those swirl patterns.

It's September and I have not scrapped a single page for this year. All my scrapping has been last year's holiday. Why am I not excited about scrapbooking 2016?

I was thinking the same thing...this might be the answer to my quandary! Thanks grammadee! I have a dedicated scraproom with good storage but I've lately gotten more into stamping so feel almost as if I have two hobbies in one space and it isn't flowing right. I have a mostly unused closet in that room. I could put off season supplies in an Iris case in the closet and really reduce the space needed for some things. Hmmm....which means I could buy more stamping stuff! Lol Also, several posts this morning have convinced me to purge cardstock. I'm good about purging other supplies but I *still* have cardstock from 2Ps days when you could click the button and order one of every color they sold. Time for it to go!
