I feel like I am going to vomit. I am so disgusted to be an American right now...and I am disgusted in my fellow Americans.

I do not think this is going to be okay. I think everything is going to get completely fucked up beyond belief and everything is going to come crashing down. This man has no sound plans of action for anything. And what little he has laid out is not going to benefit anyone! How in the ever loving fuck are we here?

My gay and lesbian friends are concerned that their rights will no longer be recognized.
My Muslim friends are concerned that their rights will no longer be recognized.
My Latinx friends are concerned that their rights will no longer be recognized.
I am an upper-middle-class cisgendered white woman in a straight marriage. I am probably going to be OK (although the Jewish dog whistles of the last few weeks make me wonder). But please, let's not pretend that this looks the same no matter who you are and what your experiences are. For many people, the arc of American history has not been that things are OK, and they have made strides over the past few generations. If that is the position you are in, this looks very different than if you are the sort of person who has been recognized as a full citizen since the founding.

All I can think of is all the fighting that has had to be done to get this far. The good ol boys and girls want to make America Great Again, which to them means living in the 1950s. Women have already said they would give up their 19th amendment rights to get the cheeto elected. What else are people going to give up to get back to that 'ideal'? If only this was a nightmare, we could wake up in the morning.

Trump and his supporters are going to get exactly what they wanted… A divided country. Let's be honest– he was never running to unite us. His strategy was to divide us. And apparently a lot of people agree with him.
Trump and his supporters are not suddenly going to start singing Kumbaya with the gays and the Mexicans and the Muslims and the blacks and the nasty women…

No, it won't be okay. It won't even be okay if one admits to being a megalomaniac, sexist, racist, gun toting, wall wannabe building madman. The markets are already responding. The world will react accordingly on so many different levels; terrorism, loss of global relationships, trade, etc. I fear for anyone who is 'different' and by that I'm even extending it to plain old vanilla white women because the locker room rape culture is perfectly acceptable to his voters.
I'm shaken to the core and worried for all of us.

Those voting for Trump want to go backwards because it gives them that leg up again...they don't care that it hurts others.

I'm so sick right now. I'm hiding in a small locked corner of my hospital crying my eyes out. I'm terrified for my children, especially my two LGBTQ chIldren and my young autistic son who can't understand how such a vile bully could be elected president. Help me make sense of this because I don't know what to do. How is this going to be OK?

I keep telling myself that we'll be okay, our government is set up so one person can't make all the decisions. But I'm still scared... Theoretically it is set up that way. At the beginning I thought well, at least there's some hope with the cabinet. Then I realised that as a complete egomaniac, he won't take anyone's advice, but his own.

I agree. I didn't like the result in 2012 but I survived. My insurance, however, did not. It quadrupled!

I've been exploring the deeper meaning like in Astrology with the transformer ( Pluto ) in the sign that governs ( Capricorn ) and seeing the bigger picture for this outcome in order to be ok with it. And that's where I'm at peace with it, not matter who is elected. I'm not watching the election, but I just heard my mom say the name that was predicted back in Feburary. If it's true then that's a destruction for a rebuild. The bigger picture is the rebuild.

No, I don't agree. If you have a president that makes a point of insulting other countries and other cultures routinely on the world stage then all of you as Americans will become potential targets. Terrorism around the globe is bad enough when we've got reasonable, calm people at the helm, put a loose cannon like Trump up and you can just sit back and wait for another 9-11. If you have a guy that can't keep his cool or hold his tongue in major world trade negotiations then you will also suffer economically. You could all be paying (financially) for this mistake for decades to come to undo the damage this man could (probably will) do. He will not move your country forward...only backwards. All jokes aside, ^ is my fear, and why I am legitimately scared tonight. That, and I feel like he just set us back 50 years. I can't imagine what it must feel like right now to be LGBT or a protected class that he's insulted along the way. I'd have a hard time supporting a country who votes someone like that into the presidency.

From the outside looking in.... I guess we just cannot understand why Trump is not seen in the same way we see him. We are horrified that at the moment he has a healthy majority....in fact we were horrified that he was selected to run for office in the first place....what is it that you see that we dont?

the problem is that 1/2 of us see it the way the kiwis do... but you have safety nets that you count on.. and the usa does not...so all those harmed by economics have no safety net...so it is throw all the bums out time. my dd in wellington..can't understand it either.. and somehow it is acceptable in many circles to be racist and sexist and proud of not being educated or place fact above feeling.

They are all crying and so upset and one stands to lose his rights to his adopted son.

There have been elections when my chosen candidate didn't win. I was somewhat bummed, but never actually feared for our country, I still respected the office and at times even defended them when I felt they were being criticized unfairly. I still felt they loved the country and would try their best.
I honestly do not feel that way tonight, nor do I foresee it in the future. If Trump wins, we are fucked.

Ok? You think we are going to be ok? Are you out of your fucking mind? Ask Germany in 1920 if things turned out ok for them.
I literally just called my financial advisor at midnight on a Tuesday and asked him to please call me as soon as possible before trading starts in the morning so I can be certain that everything is as safe and handled as it possibly can be. I'll be damned if I am going to lose everything we have worked for because of that racist, bigoted gasbag and the asshats who voted for him.
We are so fucked, it's unbelievable.
And someone mark down, that today, 11/08/16, is the day that, after 15+ years on 2peas, ahiller lost her damn mind. 😂

I fear for the NA in their standoff. The gov. as it is is behaving horribly toward them. So inhumane! I fear that's going to be a small example of what is going to happen under Trump.
Will the white hoods and their ilk be emboldened because they have a commander in chief that they felt they could support? I see all those red states down south and fear a reemergence of lynchings and cross burnings.
I fear for marriage equality. I fear for transgendered people. Can you imagine the crap in NC happening nationwide?

I like what pjaye said.
I was already so depressed, and utterly hopeless. Now I feel hopeless not just for my own future, but for the future of so many in this country. White, wealthy males will ALWAYS be okay. Not so much for everyone else.

I'm trying to tell myself I survived 8 years of Bush 2. But many people didn't so it's really false comfort. as much as I disagreed with GWB, I never doubted HE thought he was doing good for the country Even candidates I did not like, I think they had the country in their heart. Trump? He's doing it for himself. This. This. This. This. This. This. This.
