I found this summer that I really like Stella Artois Cidre, and I never feel crappy after drinking it

The older I get, the more I appreciate good booze. Give me a nice dark rum or peaty Scotch and will love you forever. Life is way too short to drink bad booze. I would rather not drink than drink junk. I get my dad a good Scotch for "Christmas" every year. Sometimes he gets cognac, too. It depends really if he has been away and has been duty free shopping. We have plenty of good booze in the basement. Have you ever had good Napoleon brandy? My dad in Japan had some $10,000 brandy so every sip was $100 or so. It was ok. I didn't hate it but I didn't think it was worth that kind of money. I mean it was smooth and all but not $10k worth. You'd probably know better. Judging alcohol by price can be tricky, especially with aged liquors. We saw a £100,000 bottle of 50-year Bowmore at their Islay distillery. It was basically that expensive because it was from one forgotten barrel that had evaporated so much that it only yielded 12 bottles. Anyone who would buy that bottle would probably never open it. After aging for 50 years, it probably tastes like piss. And more and more Distillers are forgoing the age-statements altogether - largely because they can't keep up with global Scotch demand so keeping them in the barrel for 20+ years isn't feasible. As for taste, Ardbeg and Bruicladdich has some really good young whisky. Probably more than you wanted to know.

In my old age I have finally come to the point where I recognize that sipping tequila is far more mature than guzzling shots like a desperate frat boy. Turns out, I am less likely to act like one too. lol
I agree! I sip on tequila but chase it with sips of pickle juice. Now THAT is an awesome mixture.

Well hell, I didn't know you guys were in here talking booze. My husband made caramel apple martins last weekend. Now those were dangerous! I'm mostly a wine girl, but enjoy a fun cocktail occasionally.

Mikes is great for summer, but now that we are getting close to the holidays, I make a pretty good chocolate martini!! Yummmm! Haven't read the whole thread yet... just wondering how an apology got to be six pages! I've got to keep reading to find out I'm still trying to work out how an apology turned into an alcoholic converstion Yep, this place is definitely back to normal !

Because Pastrami is protein and sugar is carbs. It's probably not about calories. I'm the one using sugar substitute regardless of the number of calories in my meal. I do this too. I'd rather use my carbs for bread and potatoes and stick with diet soda.

You're right! *You are right. I know this is true for many people. If it was just the meat without the very sugary deserts they ordered, I might even have believed it about them. I knew I was forgetting something. That was it! Slight forgotten detail there. "We'll each have a sugary, fatty, high calorie desert on top of the huge sandwiches we just ate. And we would like sugar substitute for our coffees, please."

My husband is a ranch dressing man and I am a blue cheese girl. You would much prefer my tip to my husband's.
We went to a tequila tasting/snorkeling/massage place on Cozumel and I found that I love chocolate tequila. It tastes a bit like a Yohoo for grown ups.

Good analogy and I agree. (sorry gin lovers) LOL! I'm PNW born and raised...we love pine needles! Sigh. Pine needles are OK. You will not weaken my resolve by sweet talkin' me that way, though.

All alcohol tastes like bitter medicine to me. Even the best Niagara Ice Wine...not sure why because I have a great palate.
I do love a great chai though lololol.
Yeah, I'm pathetic.

Now I'm thinking I need a drink but all we have in is Southern Comfort and nothing to mix it with! NO!! Don't do it! * Unless you are 21 years old. This is the warning I would put on Southern Comfort bottles if/when I am appointed the Alcohol Nonsense Labler in this new administration. I have my 2nd interview on Thrusday. Fingers crossed....

God I love this place....where else can you ignore a 7 page apology post after an election that exploded like an atomic bomb and find delicious alcoholic beverage recipes.
So glad the election is over.
