gin tastes like shit because it's flavored with coriander - cilantro seed what the ever loving hell? You have your good reasons for not liking gin. I gave my reasonable and completely unreasonable reasons for not liking gin, on a "let's lighten up the mood of the board" post. Is this a problem here, now? Trying to inject humor on a nicely intended thread that was going sideways?

I think she was joking, lefty... about it tasting bad because she doesn't like cilantro / coriander.
ETA: even though I LOVE cilantro and think it's TOTALLY necessary for Mexican food to taste right, as well as an Indian curry (yum), I do understand there are some poor souls out there who have the bad luck to think it tastes like soap... you'll never know what you're missing! (I'm right there with ya on the gin, tho')

I was wondering what dark turn this apology took to get to 7 pages. So happy to see it turned to spirits to lift your spirits.

I like a little egg nog with my rum!!! But good Gin I like Hendricks with Fever Tree Tonic or Bitter lemon and I am on happy gal!! Yes. Rum and Brandy are the only acceptable options for eggnog. *gavel* But still "NO!" to gin. Save

Southern Comfort only goes with eggnog in my house. This is so damn wrong I don't even know what to say. Yeah...I saw that and I was like: Everyone knows Captain Morgan is the only natural pairing for eggnog...it's like, the law or something.

I am so glad it doesn't taste like that to me! It's OK. I really like parsley and somehow that's enough for me. When you find a good parsley-based alcohol, let me know, OK?

I love cilantro - but hate gin. It tastes like I'm drinking pinesol. I'm willing to entertain the notion it's because I was drinking cheap ass gin - it has been a good 20 years since I tried it. I'm willing to give it another try for the peas. Give me a day or two and I'll report back.

Keep going ladies, you're nearly at the 10 page thread breakthrough. The thread has had 7500+ views to read about the apology mentioned in the title and for the record, I don't like Gin either and it isn't the coriander!

LOL! I'm PNW born and raised...we love pine needles! Sigh. Pine needles are OK. You will not weaken my resolve by sweet talkin' me that way, though. I am anti pine needles. My master gardener mother got ahold of my yard and inundated all the beds with pine straw. When I came I'm a few minutes ago from the torturous task of watering, there were sprigs of pine needles stuck in the holes of my crocs. Because yes, I love my Mary Jane crocs. I even *gasps* wore the to publix today. But no pine straw accessory, I'm not that much of a redneck. lol

Btw you peaty whisky drinkers need to try laphroaig - if you haven't already. It's one of those aquired tastes - first time you feel like you're swallowing flaming moss - but it grows on you.

Laphroaig...now you're speaking my language. Very smokey...such a lovely single malt. Another really great one is Oban.

I am so bummed I missed a discussion about ranch dressing being low class. In my waitress days, we used to TOTALLY predict people's tips from their salad dressing choice.* Bleu cheese or oil and vinegar (the cruets, mind you) = $$$ In the interest of prevailing board kumbaya-ing, I won't say which dressings = ¢¢¢ (No, not equating tips with class. If you lined my pockets, I didn't care a whit about your pedigree.) ETA: *This was long before the days of flavored vinaigrettes, so I admit my list would need some 21st century adjustment. And then there's the advent of honey mustard... I like blue cheese and oil/vinegar...and ranch and honey mustard. Now I feel so conflicted. I probably need to eat my salads in the closet since I don't know where honey mustard falls. (That is my current favorite along with oil and balsamic vinegar) I know, I'm all over the place with salad dressing but Tip is the same 90% of the time =20% for easy math-rounded up to the nearest full dollar because change falls out of those bill folder things they give you for payment. I may never order salad again
