Stunned, sad, I just can't wrap my head around his loss yet.

This one is a real loss for me. Usually I may feel bad when someone famous dies, but I actually cried. I loved him from his standup/improv days. Mork right through to The Crazy Ones. I watched for the bloopers at the end. So so sad. Depression sucks.

I just saw tonight a recent pic of him. He was actually here in MN for treatment june-july. He looks awful in the picture. I won't share. I wish I had not seen it. He has bags under his eyes, he is very thin, and his eyes were empty. He looked deeply depressed. His family knew he was deeply depressed. It's all just so very very sad, and such a great loss of a talent.

Hadn't he recently been for treatment for depression? It's heartbreaking to think he was so depressed. Prayers for his family.
He had some great roles over the course of his amazing career, but interesting how the ones that stick with me the most weren't his comedic roles, but the dramatic ones.

I'm not a fan of his, but this news made me very sad. Surprisingly so. RIP Mr. Williams.

The world has lost an amazing actor and comedian but his family has lost a father, husband, son, friend. Where this eels so difficult to comprehend for those of us who only know his work, this loss must be incredible for his family. I feel so bad for his children.
Robin Williams was known to so many generations. Both my 18yo and 24yo called me shortly after the news broke to ask if it were true. They each spoke of their favorite bodies of work him. My 24yo son loved his standup. We all have our favorites, may we continue to enjoy them for years to come. My son said there hasn't been a celebrity death that has touched so many in a long while.
Depression just sucks.

I wonder if there is a way to reach his family and let them know how much he was loved.

This news touched me so deeply having suffered for years with depression myself. I am angry and sad that he was unable to beat this horrible disease. I feel so much sadness for his family. My 25 year old son broke the news to me tonight once he'd found out online. So very, very sad.

I am not surprised. It was the first thing I thought of when I heard he had died. Seems like comedians are tortured souls - from Freddie Prinz to Chris Farley. Yeah, I am really bummed as I think he was a great talent and decent human being. That being said, while I did not see it coming, I am not totally surprised. A lot of great comedians use "funny" to overcome "not so funny". He surely was entertaining. And smart as a whip, although with that wit/quick mind you have to be. He will be missed.

Whenever a Robin Williams movie comes on the TV I invariably get sucked right in. I watched Good Will Hunting not long ago for the first time in ages- he was amazing in that one. Good Morning Vietnam is a another classic. Haven't seen Dead Poets Society in a while, but I remember watching that one over and over again in high school. He was so talented and brought such depth to so many of his performances.
I'm so sad that this gifted man was in so much pain that he thought suicide was his best option. May he now be at peace.

Still in shock about this...heard it on the 6 pm news and also got an alert on my cell phone. I was totally shocked. My husband is having a hard time with this, one of his favorite actors. As someone who suffers with depression at times, it is a horrible disease. I struggled so hard the first of the year. Much better now. We found out meds the pain doctor put me on cause my depression to get 100x worse. I got off the medication and I am so much better. Can't imagine how he felt to take his own life. May God comfort his family. He will be missed.

This is just so very sad. I loved him in so many movies, such joy he brought to us all!
We live down the street from him. When we came home from an appointment this afternoon we saw many helicopters and news trucks. I wanted so much for them to all leave and give his poor family the space and peace they need now.
I never met him but saw him riding his bike a lot and that always made me smile.
Peace to his memory.

I am so sad. I would be sad for anyone's suicide but for someone who seemed so happy to the outside world, his death was shocking. I wish it weren't true.
That's cool that you saw him riding his bike a lot, janniepea.

Just finished watching The Fisher King on Netflix streaming. I didn't remember much about the movie other than I knew it was one of my favorites.
The demons that chased his character in this movie must have been the same demons that chased him in real life.
The movie had a happy ending, it makes my heart hurt to know in real life the ending wasn't as happy.

There are no words to adequately explain the impact this man had on so many people. Like millions of others, I'm in shock. I hope he has found peace.

He was one of my favorite actors and I am feeling heart-broken over his death and for his loved ones. We went to the movies earlier this evening and he was in a preview of Night of the Museum. My heart sank when I saw him.

I have already seen one insensitive status on FB regarding his death. Why do people have so little compassion? My heart goes out to his family & friends on this sudden great loss. He truly was one of the most talented comedians & actors that I've ever seen.

How horrible that a man who made the world laugh was so profoundly depressed. I hope he is peace now, but his talent and great heart will be missed. Robin Williams IS the comedian of my era; no one can replace him. This sums it up for me too - it's so desperately sad.

There have been many celebrity deaths over the years, but I haven't seen an outpouring of shock and love like this for any celebrity that I can remember. Everywhere I look, there's someone mourning Robin. He was SO loved by millions of people who didn't even know him personally.
Like others, this celebrity death has touched me more than any other I can think of. He was the last comedian to appear on Johnny Carson on the very last night, and I will never forget him. A legend and a great man from what everyone has been posting that knows him.

The news has been out there for over 12 hours, yet on social media I am still seeing the same sentiments of shock. From people I would have never guessed.
I hope Robin Williams knew how many people he touched with his talent. And I hope his family can find comfort in that.
