I don't want this question to turn into a for or against Trump thread. I am curious. Whether or not you are for or against Trump, do you think his presidency will last? Do you think he will be impeached?

Honestly, it depends how deep this Russian thing goes. If I put on my tin hat, it wouldn't surprise me if the Republicans would love to get him out and Pence in, so I wouldn't be shocked if this goes totally south.

my magic 8 ball says 'too early to tell', lol!! ...my hope is yes, but the Republicans sure don't seem interested in it at this point. I don't know if it was here, or somewhere else online, but I saw somewhere that it might not be till after the mid-term elections; depending on how those turn out, they may decide he's too much of a detriment to them.

Eventually, yes. Even if he's impeached the Republicans remain in control.

I believe he will resign or be impeached at some point. Maybe not till after the midterm elections.

Maybe, but impeachment is just basically leveling charges against the President. Then he has to be tried. So while I think the possibility exists that he MAY be impeached, I think he would either resign before that happened, or in the crazy case that it happened before he could pull a Nixon, then he wouldn't be found guilty. Too many Republicans in Congress.

No I think there will be some fake/exaggerated "medical event" that will precipitate him stepping aside. Which he will spin into how wonderful he is to be such a great president!

I have not yet seen evidence that Republicans plan to impeach him.

He won't be impeached. I don't have faith that enough Republicans will do the right thing. And there is no way in hell that he will step down. I hope I am wrong though.

No to be impeached means the republican house would have to vote for it without Pence being a tiebreaker, not going to happen. I think he will say he has a health condition and needs to resign. But it seems his son-in-law is attending all his meetings with his wife Ivanka so since they enjoy playing President, I think Trump will stay in as long as possible.

Too early to tell. I think there are many, many Republicans who were not fans of his going into office and the first few weeks of his presidency did little to allay their concerns about his governing. But impeaching the president is a big deal, impeaching the president of your own party is a huge. I don't think they have enough - we'll see how the campaign contacts with Russia develops, but the Flynn story isn't enough - or at least what's been leaked to the NY Times. I do think if half of the concerns about his mental competency were true they would find a way to get rid of him. Even if he's impeached, the Republican stay in power. It may frankly come down to whether they think impeachment hurts or helps their chances at midterms.

I doubt it, if the Republicans are enough under his thumb to approve his cuckoo cabinet nominees I don't see them impeaching him. I do think there is plenty of evidence to impeach him, but maybe not enough to actually convict him. I think if they impeached this quickly it would end up like Clinton, impeached, but with an acquittal.
I do hope that after the midterms the R lose the house majority, but I am very scared that won't happen. I do think that if the D take control there will be an impeachment at that time, but I wonder of DT will resign a la Nixon before they can impeach. It is hard to believe his ego would let him resign and we all know he is delusional enough to not see that he is in fact impeachable, so maybe not. So many unbelievable things have happened in the last little bit, it is just really hard to say.

Yes I do it is only a matter of time before he makes such a large mistake that cannot be overlooked by Republicans in office (the Dems already want him gone for the mistakes he's already made), that they will have to move forward with the impeachment process. Hopefully this happens before he gets more people killed or starts a war that could be avoided. I hope it happens within this year, however realistically I do not think it will happen until 2018, when (hopefully) Congress gets flipped again.

Do you think he will be impeached? Do I think his presidency will last? No. Do I think he'll be impeached? No. I think if things continue on this path, the Republicans will lose the mid-terms, and either Trump will resign in frustration or be continually hamstrung by the Democrats to make any real impacts (for better or worse). I don't see either side impeaching him; IMO, the Republican politicians are too power hungry, and the Democrat politicians are too weak willed to follow through with it.

Yep. I said it before he even got into office. He will probably either get popped or impeached. The paperwork is probably ready, just waiting for the date and the infraction.
I am a conservative.

I'm a republican/libertarian/ independent (who knows anymore!) and I think so. Either impeachment, quitting, or something else. I'd be fine with Pence - he isn't perfect of course but at least he has decorum and speaks in complete, logical sentences.

I believe he will resign or be impeached at some point. Maybe not till after the midterm elections. At some point it will just be too much for the Republicans. No way no how are they going to risk their own seats to defend Trump.

I don't know, but I'm surprised so many think he'll resign. Personally I think he's way to full of himself to ever admit he's in over his head and resigns, that would be a sign of weakness (in his eyes) and he would never do that.

I am hoping for it but not counting on it. I agree the pressure is mounting on the Republicans to distance themselves from the Titanic that is the White House.

i think they will give it a try if he does something egregious, illegal and harmful to the American people. right now it's just a bunch of questionable decisions and conflicts of interest so nothing impeachable. but who knows what tomorrow brings.

If he does, it won't be until after the midterm elections. By then the Democrats will either have re-taken their house majority due to his shit show or the slimmer Republican majority will feel they can dump him without risking their own seats.
I don't think there's any way he will ever step down voluntarily for health reasons or any other. What I'm wondering is, would they have the guts to invoke the 25th Amendment due to the president's mental illness? And how would they prove it? Going that route allows Republicans to get rid of him while still saving face for the party.
