Urgh. Last night I stayed up to the wee small hours, making a start on a knitted gift. I could see I'd gone wrong somewhere and after much unpicking I decided to undo the whole thing. It's now the wee small hours tonight and I have just undone the entire night's work again. Third time lucky tomorrow, then.

Oh blinking heck gillyp - that gift would be put in the 'naughty corner' for a while at my house - but as it's a gift you probably don't have that luxury 🙄

Second item from my new book, a little stuffed fabric bowl that was originally designed for sewing notions as a pin cushion. It`s made from raw silk for lining and chambray outer. I will store my gem power bracelets in it. (ageing hippy here). The little bow with cheesecloth and MPO buttons is on a broach pin. Attachments:

Probably a typo since they seem to have taken the page in your link down. I've been doing prep work this week for the retreat I'm going to on Thursday (it's actually a scrapbook crop but I don't scrapbook much any more!) . My goal for the 3 day retreat is to get 2 quilt tops pieced. I'm also taking a needlepoint in progress in case I need a break from sewing. All the fabrics have been purchased/pulled for and the pattern pieces printed off for paper piecing on the Milky Way quilt I'm making. The stars will be assorted bright fabrics from my stash on a white background. The second quilt is the Sugar Rush quilt by Camille Roskelley. I bought the book and fabrics back in 2009 I think and decided it's time! The fabrics are the Petite Poulet line by American Jane by Moda. Very cute but basically non existent now so no screwing up! I've gotten all the jelly roll strips cut to size. Today I need to cut the border strips, then trace the flower and border scallop applique patterns onto the heat 'n bond. Hoping that I have time to get all that applied to the fabric beforehand. With any luck I'll have photos to share next week!

Probably a typo since they seem to have taken the page in your link down. Patons Smoothie was listed at a thousand pounds a ball!

My hygge and nuts about squares blanket are on hold because I started this for a friend. There's a similar design with ivy leaves that I might do too, in a sage green colour maybe. The pattern's easy enough but does require concentration. The designer says "The many blackberry stitches cover the holes that naturally develop when making short rows." Hmm, I think mine is holier than I'm happy with and I can't say that I'm loving it at the moment, which is a shame. ETA the Ravelry page is not my work. Just where the pattern is

To me they just seem like the same affect of using solids, except you don't get to decide when the colors change, or the order of colors.

That's what I'm unsure of too, are the colour changes very abrupt or do they blend in gradually. I've got my eye on the Scheepjes Whirl as well, but I feel bad asking for something that expensive! I wish though I'd chosen brighter colourways - any excuse to buy more lol. The colour changes are definitely abrupt there's no blending/shading transition between the colours I understand what you're saying flute4peace about the colour change etc, but I like the randomness of them.

SaveIf you do a search for it on Ravelry, you can find projects that have been made with it. I've found that's super-helpful in figuring out what a yarn will look like made-up. I'm not good at all imagining it from just the skein.
ETA: I just looked it up and it's definitely a gradient. I don't know if this link will work since it's through my ravelry account, but worth a try Whirl projects

Whirl is lovely! Definitely a gradient, changes one strand at a time so you hardly notice it at the time. If you don't want abrupt changes, it's definitely the one to go for. It is expensive but you can get a whole shawl from a single ball (even seen a dress from two!) Caron Cakes are a totally different animal, Aran weight vs the 4 ply of Whirl. ETA you'll have to forgive the terrible lighting, but here's how my Whirl project is looking.

I have the blueberry Whirl and was thinking of doing the virus shawl but I really like the look of yours quite a bit more. Is it very difficult?
