That is so bizarre. Does the husband have memory issues? What ambulance picks up a body in a parking lot without all relevant information? And why didn't he follow them instead of turning around and going home? It's so strange.

Who would turn around, drive home, and tell people she was dead if he was not sure, and did not accompany or drive behind to hospital/ coroner?

Way too much that does not add up ... I agree - I'm not sure I believe him either and wonder why the police are so readily saying he's on tge up-and-up. Perhaps they know more about his memory issues than they are saying? And exactly - what ambulance company wouldnt keep a record? Andd if she was dead upon their arrival wouldn't a coroner have been called? |

Oh my goodness! I think this is one of the oddest situations I've ever heard of.
It seems odd to me that he would flag down an ambulance, leave his (dead???) wife with the EMTs and then return home. I would think that he would follow the ambulance to the hospital and that they would instruct him to do so.
I hope that she's found, and soon. I can't begin to imagine how difficult this situation must be for the family. They don't know if they should be launching a missing person search or arranging a funeral.

The old coot killed her and disposed of the body. Your spouse dies in a strange town, you call 911. The entire story is crazy. Ambulances are sent, as in dispatched. They don't just pick up strange dead bodies. The man just left his wife and headed back to his home state? And people believe him? Crazier and crazier.

I hate to say it but I agree with you georgiapea...husband should be Numero Uno suspect but police sure arent putting him in that category. Im seriously hoping this is a police tactic and they are on to him..

Let's say for a second, that you can flag down an ambulance.
1. What sane/rational/caring person just dumps the apparently dead wife and leaves? I can imagine someone not fully aware that you would need information on the location of the body in order to handle its disposition... barely, I can imagine that. But most people are more concerned with cremating their pet than this man seemed about his wife's remains.
2. I would think that it would not be that difficult to find the ambulance company in question (even if they did not come forward). It's not like there are hundreds of ambulance companies in any given city. The available pool is limited. So... if the ambulance company the husband named is not the actual company in question, it shouldn't be hard to find which one is. Asssuming he's telling the truth.
3. He "thinks" she's dead. Go back to #1. What sane/rational/caring person does not stay to MAKE SURE?
4. Wouldn't the ambulance company demanded his information -- I mean, how were they going to get paid?
Either he is in serious dementia and his family is in denial. Or he killed her and dumped the body and the family (and police) are in denial.

I was not aware you could flag down an ambulance like it's a taxi. You can but they would not just pick up a person, living or deceased and keep it a secret. If the person was in need of medical attention the medics would notify their dispatch and/or local hospital and take her there. They don't work for free, they would bill her insurance company. There would be a record somewhere. If the person was deceased they would notify local police. An ambulance does not just drive a deceased person to the morgue and drop them off. Police would be involved to make sure there was nothing suspicious. They certainly would interview the husband so if he truly took off the police would be looking for him. Something is really off with this story. |

What?! What sane, rational husband just leaves his wife like that?? According to the article he didn’t know for sure that she was dead. Too strange for words. He killed her and dumped her body.

I swear, the older I get, the more I notice the word "elderly." There are lots of pretty vibrant 70 year olds out there. Do we have an elderly president? Is Hillary Clinton elderly? Meryl Streep? Steven Spielberg?
My point (probably obscured in my tangent) is this man is just as likely to be a spry, body-hiding criminal as a befuddled old man.

I could have seen my neighbor doing something like this. He was a mean old buzzard , who got meaner with dementia and would have just dump his wife's body off somewhere if she had died in the car.
Thank god he died before her.
My husband's father was out gambling and trying to pick up women the day after mil died. If one of the brothers didn't live in town, we never would have known she was dead. No dementia.

I suppose I chose to use word 'elderly' based on the possibility of the husband suffering from dementia. I dont typically think of young and vibrant people when I think of dementia. But I totally get what you are saying and agree the age 70 does not equal elderly behavior. |

Okay, I can buy that he looks over at her as they are driving and she's unresponsive and he fears she died. Freaked out, he pulls off the road at the first available opportunity. It's a restaurant and hey, here is an ambulance with EMT workers coming out of the restaurant! Hey guys, come here and check out my wife. That's about as far as I can go along with this.
EMT workers are going to remove her from the truck and try to revive her, aren't they? And doesn't that typically draw a crowd? People have a natural tendency to look. Okay, say she is dead and they cannot revive her. The EMTs aren't just going to accept her body and drive away. Surely there must be some sort of paperwork signed on site? And wouldn't they automatically call in to their base to let them know they came off a lunch break and what was going on? Either the base or these EMT guys would immediately notify the police to come talk to the guy. For all they know, the husband might have smothered her. They would want the police to question the guy. This is where it comes off the track for me.
One of the peas must be married to an EMT or have connections somehow. What do they say they would be the proper protocol to follow if they were approached with this in a parking lot?

unbelievable, I can't believe that an ambulance would pick up someone without getting personal info like name, next of kin etc. If she was
actually dead, ambulance would not/could not remove her because it would be a coroners case and the coroner would have to be notified and dispatched to the scene before the body could be moved. This is totally weird. My other thought, is an ambulance did pick her up, she woke up and now has amnesia. So they should be out checking for Jane Does. Both possibilities are pretty far fetched.

The home town police have been in contact with the where it happened police... Although maybe they have the wrong town even state?? She could be anywhere, maybe in a ditch? |
