Nanner Was it you who recommended a good shampoo/conditioner for dry, brittle hair? Make sure your shampoo, conditioner, and styling products do not contain silicones such as dimethicone. Silicones coat the hair shaft to make it appear smooth. By coating the hair shaft, the silicones prevent your hair shaft from absorbing moisture. Silicones are removed by using a shampoo containing sulfates which also strip your hair of good moisture. Try using a clarifying shampoo once a week followed by a deep conditioner. Use sulfate free shampoo the rest of the week and try to avoid silicones.

Use sulfate free shampoo the rest of the week and try to avoid silicones. Exactly. It's an endless cycle. And we are fooled by all of the advertising and claims that are made on the front of the packaging of the bottles and jars. It's not our fault. The beauty industry can get away with basically saying whatever they want on the front of a label. Bottom line it works like this: no matter how expensive the hair product, no matter where you bought it-salon or fancy shop, designer or not, if a shampoo has sulfates or a conditioner has silicones, or a hair styling product has silicones it will dry out and eventually ruin your hair. It will take awhile but it will happen. Deep in the core. It won't look like it on the outside-that's the silicones. They are like a tube of plastic that coat each hair shaft. On the outside it will look nice and shiny-that's the plastic silicone you see. But what it's also doing is keeping actual moisture from penetrating into your hair shaft where you need it-where it can do that good it needs to do. This might sound confusing right now but it really isn't once you start getting the hang of it. And it doesn't have to be expensive either. 10 years ago when I first started doing this-what happened was when I hit menopause my hair suddenly changed from stick straight to wavy and I had no clue how to take care of it. Well you all know me-I went and found a book I found "The Curly Girl Handbook" by Lorraine Massey. It was such a help and got me started on this whole, entire system. This is what is referred to now as the CG system. And you don't have to have wavy or curly hair to do it. Even if you have stick straight hair your hair can benefit from this because basically it's all about getting your hair in the best possible healthiest shape ever. And it does truly work. Anyway, 10 years ago when I started there was one product line on the market that made sulfate free/silicone free products called Deva. Now there are lots and lots. From stuff you can only order online to stuff you can find at Target in all price ranges. And like I said-it's not just for wavy and curly heads. Please feel free to PM me anytime-I love to talk about this stuff or check out the facebook group or naturallycurly.com has some great advice to get started. Some people who think they've had straight hair all of their lives actually turn out to have wavy hair once they've been doing this for awhile. When you get to naturallycurly.com there is a texture quiz that you can take to get started that will help you learn more about your type of hair.

My hair was stick straight most of my life until my early forties. Now I have some pretty good 2B-2C waves going on, which I’m learning to embrace because straightening it all the time was causing too much damage. I use Alterna Caviar Anti-aging Replenishing Moisture shampoo and conditioner, which are sulfate and paraben-free and good for my color too. I’ve just started using Sebastian Twisted Curl Mask twice a week and really like how it makes curls feel and look. I use Shea Moisture Strengthen and Restore Leave-in Conditioner, and Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Detangling Heat Spray and their Gel in the same line. I use a diffuser to initially lock it all in, and then let my waves air-dry the rest of the way. It’s definitely more maintenance than straightening it all the time, but with all this I get a lot of soft, pretty waves that stay fairly frizz-free .

I used my 20% off Ulta coupon on Too Faced Born This Way foundation. That coupon was burning a hole in my pocket and I needed foundation.

Where in the hell is my 20% off coupon for Ulta? I could do so much more damage with a coupon! I got it in email. I placed a big order last night and went in a store today. I had over 5000 points saved up. I got several eye shadow palettes, Murad spf primer stuff, Urban Decay cherry setting spray & eyeliner and anti-aging eye primer, Becca lilac love highlighter set, Mac powder kiss lipstick, a couple shower gels & moisturizers, Nars Heartbreaker cheek palette, Laura Geller Weekender set, Beauty Blender sweet surprise, and a few other little things. After coupons and points I spent less than $100 out of pocket. (Several things will be Christmas gifts for my daughter.) I can't wait for my big box of fun stuff to get here!

My current favorite hair products are Jessicurl Gentle Lather Shampoo, Jessicurl Too Shea Conditioner and then I use Jessicurl Aloeba Daily Conditioner (which is lighter) as a leave in conditioner. For styling I like either Curl Keeper Original or Kinky Curly Curling Custard. (Still experimenting trying to find the best product for styling). For deep conditioning I really like Jessicurl Deep Treatment.
Edited to add: At her website jessicurl.com you can get samples of most of the products which is really nice because you can try out the products without having to buy the whole bottles. She offers free shipping on the 15th of every month and Amazon is an authorized seller.

The Sephora Sale? Anyone shopping? What ya getting? I want to be enabled. I’m not sure what, if anything, I will buy. I’ve been on the hunt for a new foundation and so far haven’t done well. I got a sample of Lancôme Teint Idole the other day and it seems ok so far. I may order it from ulta, especially since i have a 20-% off coupon and it is a star item for 10x points. I’m tempted to get a Charlotte tilbury or hourglass blush or Bobbi brown face base from Sephora. I’m trying to be good.

I like the Teint Idole foundation, but I think I like Estee Lauder Double Wear and Dior Face & Body better. A new Sephora opened by me today, and it's not inside a mall. That's trouble! I got a Sol de Janeiro box set, lip pencil, Natasha Denona mini palette, Becca mini highlighter set, beauty blender liquid cleanser & Fenty Glass Bomb. I just got the Nars Heartbreaker Cheek Palette in my Ulta order. I LOVE the packaging.

I don’t know if it in the Sephora sale but I bought Urban Decay’s Naked Cherry eyeshadow palette a few weeks ago and it became an instant favorite. It’s so beautiful and I just need a little bit of color to achieve a really nice look. It blends amazingly too.

I used all 3 of the 20% off coupons I had at Ulta plus one I begged from another board. The only think I “need” from Sephora is my concealer which is out of stock online and at my local store. I do have a bunch of things in my cart that I’m going to swatch in store. A couple Charlotte Tillbury lipsticks (Pillow Talk and Very Victoria.. as if I need another nude lip). A Jouer blush duo, a Marc Jacobs eyeliner, a clay foaming mask and an eye palette. I really shouldn’t buy anything, but I’m weak.

I ran into Sephora yesterday and left with nothing. My local store is just so blah - nothing is ever restocked and it seems like they've had the same stuff forever! I am going to be starting an online cart though. I am wanting some new face masks.
I am in a really good place skin wise and am. hesitant to try any new skin products. If I found a good palette, I would probably buy it as my favorite one from Tarte (Aspen Ovard palette) got broken on my trip home from California and apparently it is sold out everywhere and no longer available.

The Sephora Sale? Anyone shopping? What ya getting? I want to be enabled. I bought the farmacy cleansing balm after requesting a sample of it last weekend. I love how it smells (it just makes me happy). I don't do a full face of makeup so I don't have a lot to remove, but I figure it's no different than using an oil as part of a double cleanse routine. I use it before I get in the shower. In my cart right now is a marc jacobs lip crayon trio and a huda beauty lip contour kit, but maybe I will get the cherry palette... Oh, hey, if anyone needed the Too Faced Peach eyeshadow palette, Sephora has a set that has the eye palette, a highlighter palette, and a lip gloss for $52... the eye palette alone is $49. If you get it with the sale it comes down to about $42, which is the cost of the highlighter palette. (Ulta had this set, too, but it's sold out, and it looks like Sephora JUST got it in.)

Can anyone recommend a dark berry lipstick (ideally satin, but I would settle for matte) like Mila Kunis’ in the photo above? I have some dark burgundy shades, such as Burberry Oxblood, but their either too dark or too...brown-red? Must have exceptional wear time!

I had beauty drama today. My foundation pulled all over my face and every pore was visible. I had to wash it all off and try again. I used my Dior face and body and had to use darker It CC Crean. It turned out fine in the end but I am tanned right now. I gave my head a shake writing that, too. My skin is kind of dark right now.
I saw my dermatologist today and got skin tags cut off. It hurt a lot afterwards and I love every second of it!

I am getting great ads on this site. They are all from Beautylish and I am seeing all sorts of cool things I need in my life. There was a really pretty blush and before that a lipstick. I seriously do not mind these ads at all!

I have not read all the comments, so I don’t know if this has been addressed or not. I’ve been using the It ByeBye makeup cleansing balm each night and love it!!! The other day I was at Walgreens and saw that Ponds has a cleansing balm for $9.99. I thought I’d give it a try and I gotta say it works every bit as good as the pricier stuff. I prefer the scent of the It one a tad more, but for the money I can get past that!

Has anyone tried Tom Ford eyeshadows? I have heard good things but they are pretty expensive. I’m down to spend if it’s something I’ll reach for every day. Thoughts or feelings?

Never used the eye shadows, but I've tried lipsticks, blush and foundation and they all were good. I wouldn't worry about quality or fall out.

That is on my list of things to try, so if you do buy some, I will be looking forward to your review. I am not sure where it's sold other than Sephora, and my Sephora doesn't carry it, so I can't try it in person. (I think at least one of the Vegas stores carries it, so it's on my "list of things to do next time in Vegas.") I do have a sample of a Tom Ford lipstick that is lovely-- a nice color, feels comfy to wear, doesn't have an obnoxious taste/smell, not super long lasting but that's probably 90% my fault because nothing is on me-- so it made me want to try more of his products. (Until I saw the price tag. LOL.)

But they are the most longwearing and comfortable for me.

OK I need a new Eyeshadow palette. I LOVE (like, love love!) the Taste Aspen Ovard palette. But DH dropped it and it went to crap. I've tried finding a new one and all I can find is ones on Mercari (with the price way jacked up) and some place called Zodeys. Has anyone ever heard of Zodeys? FWIW, I also found it on AliExpress but....I bet its a fake.
So, anyone know where can I find this palette?
