I can't see the David team winning any physical challenges.
Natalie would get on my last nerve.
I don't trust people who go through other people's belongings.
First blindside of the season.

Natalie gets on my last nerve. Can't stand her and thankfully don't have anyone in my life anywhere near her bitchiness and non-self awareness.
I'm glad Lyrsa survived that tribal. The dynamics between Christian and several of the tribemembers is very interesting. I also really like the cowgirl Elizabeth.

Oh, so us this how we’re doing it now—one season long thread rather than separate weekly threads? Interesting.
Okay, so I didn’t get around to posting last week, but I did read all your posts and was very much in agreement with the majority. Nice summary Debbie and thanks for posting the link for Dalton’s recap. I’ll try to be more on top of things!
It’s looking like a great season with some interesting characters. Like most of you, I continue to root for the Davids. They need to start winning though! I am loving Christian on the Davids. When he talks, he reminds me of a Jeff Goldblum character. He better be careful though. He should know that as soon as you talk about being in power, that’s when you get in trouble. The rain looked very bad but didn’t appear to be the worst I’ve ever seen. I was surprised they gave them a tarp and fire-making kit.
On the Goliath tribe, Batalie continues to be annoying. She keeps bringing up her age—the problem is a lot more than that lady. I loved it when (Jeremy?) tried to e plain to Natalie about her lack of self-awareness and she was NOT hearing it. I really like him a lot though.
On the Davids, I am just fascinated with watching Christian; he’s so excitable and animated. Lyrsa should be very grateful for her cowgirl friend. She really turned that vote around. I’m not sure that was the right move, but we shall see.
Gabby seems like a bit of a weirdo, and not a fun weirdo, just an odd one. It was almost like she was using some sort of crazy baby talk when she was trying to talk strategy with Christian. Funniest moment of the night was when Gabby was talking to Christian while she was drawing/playing in the sand and she asks him (in that creepy baby voice), “Don’t you want to play with me?” And he says, very gently, “You want me to play with you?” as he picks up a stick and starts drawing/playing in the sand. I truly lol at that moment.
Okay, let’s see what next week brings. Come on Davids, get it together and start wii I gotta!
I’ll post Dalton’s link tomorrow morning.

I like having one thread—I’m often busy and get behind in my watching. And I love watching several episodes in a row! Natalie—yikes. I’d love to hear from the people she works with in the real world. I’d bet there are some stories to tell. Here is Dalton’s recap

For some reason last night I felt Jeff was leading the tribal council conversation too much. He was drawing the conclusions instead of letting them figure it out for themselves. He's gotten bolder that way each year and last night I wanted less of it.

Natalie would be horrible to have as a coworker. That guy was truly trying to help her and she was clueless and arrogant. As far as the one sent home, she cracked me up in her conclusion that she must have been considered a real threat to win by getting voted out first...clearly of the generation that gives everyone a trophy. Was this filmed in Fiji?

Really glad to see it wasn't rainy season but a cyclone that has moved on and we are back to wonderful weather again on the island. So much so that they were able to have a water challenge. I love water challenges.
This episode was really good again I thought and I do think already even after just 2 episodes that this season will be better than last season. I'm still rooting for the David's even though they seem to be getting their butts kicked. I think in the challenge if the Asian girl, Bi, hadn't gotten stuck on the ladder building part they would have done much better. I told DS they should have had a guy do that part because of upper body strength. He said, "yeah but she's a MMA fighter". Didn't help her with the upper body strength she needed to do the ladder part though. And that fishing gear was a huge reward to lose. I felt sorry for them.
As far as voting out Jessica instead of Lyrsa I don't think that made sense as far as winning challenges physically. Jessica was younger and probably better fit physically as far as helping out during challenges. I do get it from the standpoint of who Jessica's alliance was-but, and this is a big but, it's too early right now to worry about getting rid of your own teams alliance partners. You are only on challenge number 2! At this point I think your main priority should be keeping the strongest team you can for winning challenges-because if you don't your team will keep going to tribal council and you'll keep making your team smaller. Every time you lose an asset (like Jessica) you're giving the other team more power to win at the next challenge.
Natalie-oh my gosh! As bad as it would be to be her coworker, and you imagine if she was your boss?! I can see her being the type of boss who never does her own work but foists it onto those who work for her and makes them do it plus their own work. I give a lot of credit to whoever it was on the Goliath team who tried to spell it out for her about her lack of self-awareness. When she still wasn't getting it I wanted him to say to her, "Look, you tell everyone what to do and then you sit on a tree stump while everyone else works all of the time. You never work at all. That's why people are upset with you". I get why he didn't in a way. She wasn't hearing him at all. She's probably have a ton of excuses ready for him if he had said that. And her bringing up her age repeatedly. That really pissed me off. It was her decision to come on Survivor. What does she expect. Special treatment because of her age? She's only 56. That's not old. There have been people on Survivor older than she is. I can't wait until she's voted off.
Jackie it's so good to see you back. I like Christian too and agree with you on Gabby as far as her voice is concerned. The part about Gabby asking Christian "don't you want to play with me?" as she's drawing in the sand and he says, "in the sand?" that was hilarious! She says something like "no, in the game". He assured her that of course he was playing with her in the game. Christian is a huge asset for his puzzle solving skills and I really like him as a person. I'm not sure about Gabby yet. I have to see more of her to decide but her baby voice does get on my nerves.
I can't wait to see next week's episode. Really hoping the David tribe can win a challenge. They need it.

David vs Goliath was filmed end of March-May 2018, autumn for Fiji. So smack dab in the middle of the rainy season. It's late in the year for a cyclone, but not unheard of. Because it's so close to the equator, temps don't fluctuate a ton, but can still be cooler, especially at night. Remember when all the contestants were evacuated Day 1? Day 2? of Millennials vs Gen X? Same filming time frame. And even though it's autumn, Caleb's evacuation from Kaoh Rong was in the same time frame and it was crazy hot that day. Weather is only trends over decades, but is really dependent on Mother Nature. I still have my AC on and it's October!

Natalie. Wow! What an ego that woman has! And she is utterly unaware of what others think of her. Actually, she's almost certainly a narcissist.
I'm worried that after that AWESOME win by the Davids in the first episode they may never win again, and then what? And I do want to point out that Lyrsa was part of that win; why do people think she's weak? But if the Davids don't win, you can't just mix up the tribes, can you? Then it won't be David vs Goliath anymore. I wonder if the producers have boxed themselves into a corner this season.
Christian is such a hoot! I hope he's around for a long time. I like listening to his ramblings, plus he really is the person they need for puzzles.
I agree that going through other people's belongings is NOT OKAY! Sheesh! I know it's a game, but have a little respect for boundaries!
So far I've really enjoyed both episodes, much more than last season.

They've had tribes with assigned attributes before and mixed them up after a couple of episodes. Brains, Brawn and Beauty; Blue collar, white collar, no collar; etc. I'm sure they'll do the same with this one, eventually.

Brains, Brawn and Beauty; Blue collar, white collar, no collar; etc. I'm sure they'll do the same with this one, eventually. I think self-preservation should always be a bigger motivation for voting someone out over strength of the tribe especially as history tells us there will be a merge soon enough. I haven't seen anything that makes Jessica a better player over Lyrsa and certainly not anything that will make a difference in a physical challenge against the Goliath team. I'm surprised Nick wasn't suggested as a target as I haven't seen him bring much to the challenges either and people have all noted him doing nothing around camp. With Bi, I don't think it was upper body strength that was the problem, it was wing span. The rungs had to go in straight and she couldn't hold it in the center to get that done, she was holding the rung closer to one end, and had a lot less control to maneuver it into place. As someone with short arms, I felt for her on that challenge. Both Natalie and Natalia on Goliath are equally annoying IMHO. If Goliath makes it to tribal before a merge I don't think either will be the first to go. When your tribe is so dominant physically, you can afford to cut one of the strong guys and my money is going to be on Dan. I suspect Kara is already wanting to cut him loose because his crush is going to ruin her game (I just don't think she is that into him and he has already shown he won't listen to her). Dalton was talking about the weather and noted that all the even numbered seasons get the good weather and the odd numbers get hit with the rainy season.

I see exactly what you are saying about Bi and her shorter arms and I agree with you. I have short arms too. In fact DS likes to joke and call them my T-rex arms. I can see now what you mean. By holding the rung on one end if she had long arms she would have been able to maneuver it a lot better. Having short arms I too can see how that would have been difficult. I agree with you-it didn't have to do with upper body strength but with arm length. I make it a point to not read Dalton's views before I make my post here so that I am only sharing my views and insights when I post. That's why I assumed it wasn't rainy season and just a cyclone that had passed through when I made my post.

It WAS a cyclone; Jeff specifically said so at the challenge.
I think voting out strong players (and by that I mean either very athletic, good swimmers, or really good with puzzles) is a dumb strategy. Sure, it's possible they'll win a bunch of the individual challenges, but they've got really good about making sure that challenges don't just require one kind of strength or skill; or, if they do, it's ones where women and men have similar capabilities (the one where they have to hold their arm up and if it goes down a bucket of water is dumped on them, for example).
Keep your strongest players until the merge. The less you have to go to Tribal Council, the better.

I think maybe what happened with the other posts was some Peas had read Dalton's review and he'd written something about the rainy seasons(I still haven't read his review yet so I don't know what it says) and so that was in their replies. I agree 100% with everything else you said too.

So, that was interesting. Two people arguing about which one is less self-aware. Although I can't stand Natalie, I knew Jeremy was heading home. Love that the Davids won the challenge. The minute Natalie said she was going to work on the puzzle, I knew they would lose. I'm not too fond of Nick as think Gabby is adorable. Glad that the merge the tribes will be switched up next week.

Oh, the rain looked miserable! I know it’s early, but they’re doing a good job of hanging tough. On the David tribe, I think I like Christian and his Mason-Dixon counterpart, but they need to reign in the cockiness. Aren’t they super fans? If so, don’t they know that when anyone thinks/says they’re controlling the game/vote, it’s the kiss if death? Shaddup already! It was nice to see that the tribe came together after the surprise vote off of Jess. Truck driver guy (I hate that I do t know his name, because I really like him) broke my heart with his tears over Jess. That was so sweet. I hope he can stay good with the tribe and get past that blindside. I was so happy to see Davids win the challenge. What a boost to morale—to beat the mighty Goliaths, win immunity, and get those lovely comfort items (soggy and wet as they are right now) . I loved it. But Bi, probably their most athletic person, hurt her knee. That could spell trouble.
On the Goliath tribe, Jeremy just blew it for himself. You don’t tell people not to talk in small groups—how controlling! And of course he’s even more ridiculous because he does exactly what he told them not to! And he dies it far more than they do. I’m sad to see him go though. I actually liked him and he was a super fan (always scores points with me). He was too funny with the Hawaiian sling—dying to try it but afraid of losing the end as he’s seen people do in past seasons. He played too hard and too erratic though. You know you’re bad when your tribe chooses to keep Natalie over you. I have to say the Goliath tribe was more likable this episode. John, the wrestler, has really been a surprise to me. He’s one of my favorites over there and I didn’t expect to like him at all. I laughed so hard when I saw them racing those crabs. So funny! So what’s the preview for next week? My recording didn’t have it.
Oh, and I wanted to talk about a couple other Survivor things not from this season. I started rewatching seasons with my dd. She went off to college and I thought I’d stop but I’m kind of hooked. I tend to read-up on some past contestants and found out a few things. You guys probably already know, but thought I’d share in case you don’t. Parvati married and had a baby with another Survivor. She married John Fincher. He was the rocket scientist on Survivor Samoa, Russel Hantz’s season.
Also, do you guys remember Mike Halloway, the winner from Worlds Apart? I’ll be honest, I could not place him until I rewatched the season. Then I remembered rooting hard for him. That was the blue collar, white collar, no collar season. He was blue collar and everyone was gunning for him almost the entire season. That season had one of the most unlikable casts ever. Anyway, HE is engaged to Meg Manley from Big Brother 17. That one really surprised me.
Okay, last thing, and I’m going to put this one in a spoiler. This has nothing to do with this season and how things turn out. It’s about what’s happening next season with Survivor (in case you don’t know, but want to):
Season 38 is going to be called Season of Extinction. It will have four returning players (handsome Joe, David Wright, Aubrey, and Kelly Wentworth) and then the rest will be new players.

When Jeremy kept saying “haven’t you watched Survivor before” I wanted to yell at the tv “haven’t YOU?!?!” For such a super fan, everything he did at camp in last night’s episode sabotaged himself.
Edited to add ~ it would have been a great play if Natalie did all she did on purpose to get the tribe to vote Jeremy. It worked all to a perfect Survivor plan. Sad thing is it seemed she had no idea that’s how it was happening and it was just pure luck.

As much as Jeremy caused trouble for himself, I was totally disgusted that they kept Natalie...she is truly dislikeable. I feel sorry for anyone who has to work around her and having her for a boss would simply be a curse. I am liking Mason Dixson. I find Bi...not sure if that is her name...to have an inflated view of herself...I would like her gone quickly. I am liking the wrestler.
